  • Around 31,000 properties in St Leonards and Hastings in East Sussex are without water due to a burst main.
The area is served by Southern Water which is providing bottled water to some of those affected.
Some schools and businesses, including the White Rock Theatre and Summerfields leisure centre, had to close on Friday due to the lack of water

I agree. My water bill is the largest utility bill I have to pay to a company that takes weeks to fix a leaking water pipe in the road, and of course also dump raw sewage into the rivers and sea for which I also get charged for. On the envelope, my bill comes in, is the slogan "please use water wisely". 🌧

The Guardian reports that Australia-based Macquarie Bank posted an annual net profit of A$5.18bn (£4bn), up 10 per cent from last year. That's not the issue. The government can technically keep issuing money so long as it goes to the right places. It's not an case of "it's one or the other."
Unfortunately, privatised water companies are not the right place because the money ends up in bonus packets of "businessmen" in other countries who are simply out to make a quick buck, so all that money is effectively lost forever.
