Thanks so much guys, we're honored to see Cartographers on both of your lists. Write on! ✏
Of course! It's a terrific game
Fantastic lists guys!
Cartographers has been on the top of my list for a while, i love the sheer variability and incredible replay value it has. It's incredible to me that even if you take the same 4 edicts and shuffle them around so ABCD are all different ones, its a completely different game.
Some other ones I've been loving recently are:
- Fliptown
- Next Station London
- Railroad Ink
Thanks for watching! You're right about the ordering of the edicts, it changes it completely! I can't wait to try flip town
Cool list! Need to pick a few of these up!
Thanks for watching!
Cartographers was one of the first board games I have played in decades. As a video game enthusiast, I wasn't interested in playing board or card games until I picked up that game. The amount of variability in that game is astounding, and I've become hooked. The one thing that keeps Cartographers from being a perfect game is that some score cards are not balanced or very useful if drawn during the early seasons (A or B). For example, the score card Borderlands is not as powerful during the spring season compared to the winter season.
There are other games to the "blank" and write games I would try. On Tour, Long Shot, Silver and Gold, Explorers, and Trails of Tucana come to mind.
100% agree on the edict scoring cards. It's fine in a multi-player game because everyone has the same layout. Not so good solo if you are going for a high score though. On Tour is a blast! We have Silver and Gold but have not got it to the table yet.
1. Cartographers (I have everything for it and Heroes, all maps, all mini expansions and got the mini expansion that came with Stonespine Architects)
--- I'm not an artists either. I outline shapes in flair pen and shade with colored pencil.
2. Rolling Realms (especially with the variability and the fact that Jamey plays live every few weeks. He is announcing 3 new realms this week)
3. Dinosaur Island Rawr and Write
4. Three Sisters (I prefer this to Fleet for solo play at least). Have not played Three Sisters at 2p. Paul, Fleet is on BGA. Definitely another option for a game for us.
5. Long Shot: The Dice Game
Honorable Mentions:
Hadrians Wall (I still can't get myself to use the right pad enough or understand the purpose of them)
Next Station: London (also on BGA as is Next Station Tokyo)
Welcome To (also one of my earliest "x"-n-write's)
Isle of Cats: Explore and Draw
Patchwork Doodle (gives the feel of Patchwork but can be played solo)
Railroad Ink (another one of my earlier ones)
Terrific list! Cartographers is just so dang good.
I belive Devin has Dinosaur Island Rawr and Write, maybe we I'll live stream it one day. We will get three sisters to the table at BggSpring for sure this time. We are gonna have to get a bigger group for long shot, I bet it's not the best at 2
@@dadsanddice I play all of my x-n-writes almost exclusively solo. Long Shot has an interesting opponent solo.
But my wife and I love it 2p. It was surprisingly one her favorite games when we got it. It was one of my earlier KSers and she really enjoyed it.
Thanks for playing Cartographers! We love to hear people have fun with our games. :)
Welcome To The Moon is the beeeeeest
Soo many campaigns to get through!
thanks Dads - good list.
Thanks for watching! What games would he on your list?
I have not yet tried those kind of games yet, which one do you guys think I should try out first?
as always great video DnD!
Honestly I think Cartographers or Welcome to are the best to start with. They can almost all be played solo as well which is a huge plus
Great list. Here are some of my favs.
Draft and Write Records
Dice Cards
Super Mega Lucky Box
Next Station London
Qwixx
Roll to the Top: Journeys
Welcome to…
Rolling Realms
Quixx and Roll to the Top are great. Is Draft and write a newer one?
@@dadsanddice yes Draft and Write Records is a newer game. I just got it myself and really enjoy it. You use cards to build a band, tour venues, build harmony between your band members, tackle calendar items and add assets. Its a fun card drafting and writing game. I initially ignored this when I saw it on Kickstarter but recently saw a play through on CZcams and thought that I might enjoy it. I bought it and I really do enjoy it a lot. Thanks again for your videos. I enjoy watching them and learning about more games. I may have to look into Hadrians Wall. I have not tried that one.
@wingman15 🙌 we truly appreciate the comments and support! Thanks for watching
A couple that I love and I haven't seen mentioned yet are Dungeons, Dice & Danger and Fliptown.
Flip town is a new release right? I've heard Dungeons dice and danger is fun although tough
I always jokingly call these "Random" and Writes. heh ;-)
😂 Which game is your favorite random and write?
@@dadsanddice The two that are my favorites are Welcome To... and Cartographers. :-) I have many more to play, but those are my favorites of the ones I have played, so far.
