Helmut -“Finally trapped somebody”😂🤧
Hard to believe he said that out loud
@@bobabooey285he says everything out loud 😂😂😂
Thanks for quoting that. Completely missed it in the video.
This is when TV poker was at its peak
For me it was The Big Game 😊

Notes on the table, love it. Tom and Phil on with the outs so fast.
It's a prop sheet
lol most certaintly not notes
Tom was the only one even close to the right math. Clearly the smartest dude there 😂
Iveys math on insurance was TERRIBLE, and Hellmuth almost ripped him off. 😂
why close? He was right, wasn't he? Helmut had 10 cards out of 44. Or I'm missing something?
Why did it cut when Hellmuth casually asks for 100K more and Ivey asks Dwan to give him a 100k because he has everyone covered
How come Hellmith berates literally everyone except Ivey???
why you mad? Everyone is scared of Ivey. Everyone. You would be too, boy.
@cwdoby I'm not mad, I was simply asking a question. Why you so stupid, thinking I was mad
You run into the buzzsaw that is Ivey as many times as Phil, even his ego has to relent and say Ivey is better than him.
This was like 15 years ago
Hellmuth is horrible in cash games. This isn't a tournament. There is no ICM and your fold equity is limited by how much money someone is willing to lose, so if your opponent has more money than you your fold equity goes out the door.
What is ICM?
Lol that's not how fold equity works. And if it did then that would be amazing, you'd just never bluff
You are a poker genius; your ideas will revolutionize the game!
@@thsu8 independent chip model. It basically measures how much someone’s stack is worth in short. So for example if I’ve got a big stack and have to call an all in from someone with a quarter of my stack, my chips are worth more to him than his chips are to mine since I’ve got the bigger stack, so that can help you figure out whether your call is profitable. (I might have gotten that completely wrong so if I have, someone feel free to correct me)
When he said Daniels booking my action means everything that he loses he owes double to Daniel!😂😂
Funny to compare it to the similar hand against Doug Polk.
Top Set vs 2nd nut straight - Hellmuth gets stacked

why show a years old show that you say just happened a few days ago??
X Days Ago refers to when the video was uploaded.
There's no suggestion this is from a recent game.
Phil is a genius player
Is he though?
Which one? 😂
What's a 'triple dipple'?
I`d like to know as well. It relates to a "prop" or side bet he has with other people.
such a sick hand, Hellmuth flops top set and lost but lost double the amount because he was booked by dnegs lol
Very current
That was like 7 and 5 in a James Bond hand :-)
wish they would put timers on players.... dont' have the patience to watch slow play
Did Phil forget how insurance works? Lol
I forgot, I don't even know how reverse insurance works. I thought that was just what happens naturally when you deal the hand out.
He looked a little stunned to be losing and I guess somehow didn’t realize that insurance doesn’t work when you’re behind.
No, he said he wanted reverse insurance. With the briefly agreed 2.8-1 by Ivey (PH wanting to bet 20k), PH would get 20k back if he lost and he'd pay 54k to Ivey if he hit the boat. Hence REVERSE insurance for Ivey, who'd be extracting a little extra juice either way. Does that makes sense?
@@AnaInTh3Sky It's an awkward phrase because insurance is always betting on the worst result.
@@EGarrett01 I know... it's a very old skool thing to do anyway before people started running it multiple times. I kinda like the nerdiness of it tho... with the props, the insurance... made for some great great shows and proper immersive experience! Now all they do in Hustler et al is yell, try to crack insider jokes and punt away.
Yep, you trapped yourself. I used to do this at least once a session.
You dont know ivey than if you think he would fold
Trapped himself??? Top set on a dry board you want to get all the money in, it's a cooler buddy. What are you on about?
One of phils funniest lines
The fast mathematical mind of Dwan is very impressive
uh, if you think 10/44 = 1/4.4 is impressive maths
@@aseq2 impressive how he can calculate everything instant and that's why he is a genius, not like you 😂
@@eidemonbkk there are 52 cards... 52 - 4 (players cards) - 4 (flop + turn) = 44
number of cards that make Hellmuth win 10 (x1) / 9 (x3) / 7 (x3) / 2 (x3) = 10
it's quick math, especially it you play poker often
and even hellmuth had figured out he had 10 outs before Dwan spoke

Why not re rais the 1010 pre flop?

Because he's an idiot.
what season is this from?
season 5 rail bird heaven
A cooler for sure, Hellmuth getting stacked every time there. What I don't understand is why did he just call on the flop, with such a monster hand and so many draws available? And why did he have to ask the other players how many outs he had, surely he should know a set in general has ten outs versus a straight or flush on the turn without thinking.
A top player not knowing the amount of outs was definitely confusing.
That should be known with that amount of experience. Like asking a child what 5x5 is. You just know.
Guessing it was just for show. He does so much for show it gets tiresome.
Cause the board is so wet, it's better to wait for the turn. He actually isnt even in that amazing of shape vs a combo draw on the flop. Also doesn't wanna chase 2 pair out of the hand
Hellmuth has almost as many tells as Joey Gold
3B that pre Phil .
Ivey being able to play it cool, announcing the prop, helps hide the strength of his hand. Amazing
Amazing deuce on the turn too. Money was destined to go in
U stop jumping out of ur seat when u hit a flop after 20 yrs or so of playing for a living 😅
What is a prop? I googled it but I don't understand in this context
@@JungleLibrary in these games, the gambling on cards isn’t enough, so they bet on certain cards coming out, for more gambling.
They may bet on the flop being red or black, a certain 3 cards coming out etc

The insurance deals mystify me. You win some flips, you lose some. Solid play over time is your insurance.
It's definitely like a superstitious thing. Doesn't really make sense paying to have the same amount of equity.
At the time, these were huge games. If you're a top pro, there must be endless games where you can win piles. Playing against other top pros in a massive game is where you really want to cut you variance and make sure you don't get felted.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, i feel ssoooooo sorry for Phil!
Reverse insurance... lol. I wonder how much money hellmuth has lost doing these dumb side bets. If he cant handle the variance, dont play the stakes
well, if he always ran insurance hed be losing less on average no?

Hellmuth is not the greatest in the world I don’t think he is even all that great. I mean yea he is way above an average garage game player but he makes dumb mistakes he insults people when he loses a lot and it’s always in someone else’s fault his ego is way bigger than his game

I'll give you 2.8 to 1 for as much as you want.... I change my mind.
I counted 13 outs. So 13 out of 44, so Phil had 3 out of 10.
how, a 10, three 9s, three 7s, three 2s, ten cards.
American maths is cool, no logic or brains , i'm talking about the original comment btw, there are 10 outs it's basic stuff just like pointing out a single country on a globe which alot of new age Americans can't do
Ivey, lol, such a donk, the man has lost far more than he ever made, Hellmuth tho... also pretty terrible. I've played against him. never lost to him
I do not like Helmuth but he is arguably one of the best of all time if not the best, attitude aside
Number of bracelets would lend credence to that statement. @@bobabooey285
@@joe25564 except for the fact the man has a 30% cash rate in tournaments you may be right but I doubt it
Okay liar
Not sure what you are trying to get at, but Phil Ivey has a net work of $120+ Million. He has won more than $40 Million in tournaments and $100+ Million in cash games, not to mention his business and real estate gains. TBH, all poker players have losses at some point. Phil claims he once lost $2.2 million in a single night playing table games unrelated to poker. But he certainly has not lost more than he ever made. To say you never lost to Phil Ivey means you never played a pot with him or folded every hand until you had a sure winner. 🤣
I don’t like Hellmuth, but this is pure cooler. Everyone is going broke there. All luck and no skill. Ivey raised and got lucky.
Love Daniel, "I'm not interested, I want to see LESS Phil!" 😅
Poor phill he always gets robbed by the best and he's still thinks he's the best 😢😢
