  • Today we look at a package unit that isn't cooling and keeps dropping our low side voltage. I'll admit I was more confused then I should have been but in the end I won. Enjoy-

Also keep a lookout for return dampers closed on some fire systems. Sometimes the whole roof is wired to one dry contact at the fire panel, locking everything out for 1 fault somewhere.

Soon as you said many units down, I thought fire alarm. Good video

Lee Johnson yeah, smoke alarm, fire alarm or some duct pressure sensor system.

Great video---Im a new subscriber---I appreciate when someone is man enough to admit he overlooked something or didnt see the issue immediately--thats how we always learn for next time

Absolutely, repetition and knowing sequence of operations cuts out a lot of wasted looking.

If you're anything like me, I seem to ONLY learn and remember through struggle, pain, etc. :-) Great job, and thank you for the video.

Hello sir big fan here from Minnesota, , just started watching your channel a few weeks ago, thanks for all that useful information. I like the way you explain things and explain what each wire does and what every control board does and all that stuff, you go deep in to the important stuff, I also like that you go straight to the point and also never make a video extra long by telling us about your personal life and bla bla bla lol anyway thanks for helping a lot of us become better at this trade I look forward to watch more of your videos and learn more. Thanks and have a great day!

Nice job, I have this same problem and as soon as i started to look into the smoke detector it started raining so I didn’t get to finish. I thought i was crazy too because the board had power but wasn’t flashing any lights.

They should have been getting a trouble alarm on the fire system inside the building .. next time your control circuit is doing weird stuff I bet the smoke detector will be the first thing you look at - corset all u have to do is check for that 24 volt input from the smoke detector...

A way to check a short is pull all wires off beside incoming power and plug wires in one by one until it short/board shuts off

When one leg of three phase power goes directly to compressor, this is a trickle circuit to warm compressor windings CCH

@@curioushvacguy6876 Now I'm curious, wouldn't the duct detector being in "alarm" at least have triggered a trouble on the fire alarm panel?

Those blue filters in front of the evaporator coil look woefully inadequate. They look like glorified coffee filters. Nothing like I've ever seen before, but I'm a design engineer, not a field tech. What do you think?

Hi, my york rtu unit is in heat mode and giving a HS1 limit switch error on the smart simplicity control. I've checked the high limit switch and it seems fine. The manual for the control says the LS1 has tripped 3 times within an hour. This results in the HS1 LIMIT SWITCH LOCKOUT. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
