- The internet says diving a scooter along the Amalfi Coast is dangerous, but is it? Only one way to find out...
We rented scooters in Salerno, Italty and drove along the Amalfi Coast, then up to Naples, and back. We stopped in Maiori, Positano, Sorrento, and Herculaneum along the way.

Great and tnx a lot .. this year in september going 💪🏻💪🏻
Mamma Mia! What a video! Looks like an amazing trip. Fun fact: the 2023 Giro d’Italia went through Amalfi this year on stage 6, including Positano, so feel like it was even more popular with cyclists this year!
Brilliant, thanks for sharing this 👏 I've done it from Sorento to Salerno a couple of times, but after watching this, I'm going back in September to do it the way you did it 😀
Really appreciate your video! Wife and I are about to do some days along the coast. We plan to also be based in Salerno. I've ridden motorcycles since I was 15, you've convinced us to rent two wheels to take our time along the coast. We won't be doing it all in one go like this, but definitely doing the rental 🤙
It'll be a blast 🍻
Thanks!
Is an international license required to rent it or Canadian driver's license is enough? Thank you
Great, informative video. We are going to the amafli coast this September from Monday to Saturday and will be hiring scooters. Would you recommend hiring them for a few days, oppose to just one day? We are staying in sorrento. Was it easy to park the scooters? Is there a lot of places to park? Thank you! Julia
Yeah, parking was pretty easy, lots of parking around for scooters (blue zones). Pay via an app. One day might be tight depending on what you want to do and the closing hours of the shop. I'd say it's worth keeping them through sunset
Nice one, Pete. I'm thinking about renting a scooter from Naples in June and riding it to Positano to avoid driving because of bad traffic. My girlfriend will be riding as a pillion. Do you think the scooter will be powerful enough on the highway, if one exists?
Thanks, yeah, I think you'll be fine. Acceleration will be slow, especially going up over the mountain range, but you'll be fine. I had a friend do the coast on a scooter with his wife on the back, no issues.
@@PeteBarkley thanks for the response Pete 🙂
more info! how much was the scooter rental? how long to get to each stop? what time of year did you go? any tips?
Rented the scooter for 3 days from Rent2Ride in Salerno. $400 CAD for both scooters for the whole time. This was the 9th of September.
It was about 6 hours of riding, and 6 hours of stopping checking stuff out.
Definitely recommend avoiding the tunnels on the north side of the coast, though it'll take longer.
Overall was a blast.
Rented in Rome, and own my own vespa and commute in the baltimore/dc area 3-5x a week when the weather is good.
Amalfi's nothin. :D
What all equipment did you use to shoot the videos? Amazing journey!
Cheers. The riding shots were with an Insta360 X3, drone shots a DJI Avata, the rest my Pixel 6 Pro
@@PeteBarkley thanks for sharing! what all accessories did you use - I'm guessing a motorcycle mount with selfie stick..what else?
@@AakashLohia1992 yup, motorcycle mount with selfie stick was about it. I also had a vibration damper, but found it made the video a bit worse, so didn't really use it.
How many CC were scooters?
125 CC from Rent2ride, great guys!
@@PeteBarkley Do you need a special license to get a bigger CC scooter in Italy like in US?
@@michaelsmith9034 125cc or under doesn't require any license, anything larger requires a motorcycle license. I tried to get a larger bike with my Canadian motorcycle license, however they didn't want to rent it to a foreigner. 125cc was great though, no power issue
@@PeteBarkley ok,thanks
How much per bike ?
It's a cornetto, not a croissant! You're not in France. 😉
