    This happened to me a short while back. Had the car recovered to my driveway then tried to get someone to take the job on. Wondered why people were reluctant, apparently it’s because of trying to remove the broken bolt. In the end I decided to have a go myself. After watching every possible CZcams video I ordered the parts starting with a left handed bit. I was surprised that the stub came out so easily.
    Unlike your problems everything went smoothly. I only refitted the 2 injectors that came loose, didn’t touch the other 2.
    I also found 2 different torque settings 7 newton then 180 and 8 newtons and 270. I compromised and did 8 then 220, nerve wracking as you get past the 180.
    I put STP high mileage injector cleaner in and Esso plus diesel and also had an oil and filter change. I’ve done 240 miles since and the car is running better than it did before.
    The car is a 2010 Mk 6 golf with 130000 miles on the clock. The parts cost me about £75. Hate to think what a main dealer would have charged. Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting.

    It is a plug tap 👍🏻 they’re usually in sets of 3. A lead, a second and a plug. Usually denoted but etched lines on the shaft of the taps. 1 line is first, second has 2 lines and a plug has 3 lines. 😉 p.s. nicely recovered.

    I’m thinking to do a Helicoil insert instead (since i already have the repair kit). Do you think helicoil is strong enough for those application?

    After a bit of advice. I swapped out my rocker cover gaskets and injector seals. I tightened the stretch bolts to spec..but over time the clamp holding injector 3 & 4 is coming loose.
    Am I okay to use a normal bolt? My way of thinking is I can get more torque on it that way? Not sure if stretch bolts are needed for something I haven’t thought about, Any help is appreciated mate.

    • @DanielBall
      @DanielBall  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It's worth a try, the stretch bolt is a terrible design.

      I think it's unlikely to cause any damage, providing you are careful obviously 😊

    I have the exact same issue, and decided to go down the same route. But will do both sides. Any idea where you got the dome washers from?

    • @DanielBall

      Hi there, they are from a 2.3 Fiat Ducato 2017 model injector clamp. Can't see any on ebay, but they are easy enough to get from Fiat.

    what was your approx thread depth with stud/drill left in ? ive got about 23mm as bolt sheered at top of its thread,

    • @DanielBall
      @DanielBall  Před rokem

      I would have said around 20mm, so 23mm should be enough. Thousands of miles later and it's still going strong 💪

    You didn't use new bolts for the injector clamps. I think the torque for the M8 bolt is different than the original bolts. Heating up the engine before untightening the bolts can be easier.

  • @ryans1147
    @ryans1147 Před 8 měsíci

    I believe this only happens if the bolts are re-used, as these are stretch bolts. People reinsert the bolts, and torque them back to spec, and as a result they snap under stress

    • @DanielBall
      @DanielBall  Před 8 měsíci

      Sadly these were new bolts. And torqued correctly.

    Good repair pal ,that stud you put in what size did you use ? I’m assuming a longer one could be used and you would just trim to size the bit that’s exposed up top
