  • Hi Everybody!
If you've ever wanted to know more about the screw pump (Archimedes Screw), then you've come to the right place! Today we are going to learn about one of the oldest forms of technology, the screw. We'll learn how the Egyptians first used the screw to lift water from lower areas to higher areas for irrigation. The screw pump was later introduced from Egypt into Greece.
For this build, you'll need PVC pipe (at least 1/2 inch diameter), tubing (at least 1/4 inch diameter), duct or packing tape, two bowls, and water (food coloring is optional). You can also substitute a paper towel roll wrapped in duct tape for PVC pipe.
If you tried this build and it worked, leave a comment below!
Thanks, and keep experimenting with science!
