    What if the Archimedes screw was placed horizontally in a tank water, the screw enclosed and compressed air added at the bottom. Would the rising air spin the screw. With the screw having baffles every so often of course for the air to rise against and generate force.

    As understand it archmedies was the first record we have of someone documenting the technology and explaining the principles, though some cuniform hints at this use, but he wasn't the first to use this technology. I believe Archemedies discovered this in use in egyption irrigation. The technolgy wasnt invented by Archemedies.
