Lineker was a sporting prodigy. He made about 50 career centuries in snooker, and almost had a maximum as well. Think his top break was 140. He was also a top class cricketer, and people thought he could have played for England. But he chose football
You probably know that he practiced often with the great WT (Willie Thorne) when he played for Leicester City. He's not the only sportsman to be good at other sports though, it just wasn't really publicised that much. Steve and Mike Gatting played both Football and Cricket to a good standard as well as table tennis. Mike chose cricket and Steve football.
He used to play regularly with Willie Thorne in the 80's and 90's 😁 Remember seeing pictures of them together in Willie's club in Leicester when I played there.
That was the joke. Lawrenson was a complete amateur, whereas Lineker had made about fifty century breaks 😆He practised with Willie Thorne so was very good.
didnt realise how good linekar was as a snooker player. snooker is so frustrating to play cos i love it, i watch everything, every tournament and go to afew tournaments on the tour , yet when i play i cant hit anything over a break of 30. ah well, thats life innit!!!
Learnt a lot from the professional Willie Thorne, and his cricket abilities are apparently quite good too. Still, Gary's not done too bad money-wise from his second career, commentating.
Gary is one of them people who are good at everything, has a nice car, nice house, gorgeous woman and loads of money! Where I’m from these types are called wan*ers!
@@williamryan6162 I used to play in a big handicap in the one above mcdonalds on a monday night but it went onto about 4am. The new world one in bruce grove I knew well as I knew the owners of the chain Kevin Bisset and robin Draper.. I am from wandsworth so used to play in the hall on the high street a lot.
played Charlie paul for money and steve ventham Camberwell and garrat lane .i thought his name was paul bisset Tottenham hardest handicap to win i played jon Wright 11am Tuesday in the final 128 runners
I remember watching this in 86. Lineker not too shabby at all.
This is when the FA Cup was magic. The day was so exciting. Loved the build up.

I hear he's also good at housing doctors and layers from other lands...bet the cueball isn't his favourite colour
Great mullets.
Fair dues. Gary can actually play the game. Plays the right shots!

Gary's missus was only 6 years old then!
Lineker masterclass
I like how Mark Lawrenson didn't really age from the 1980's to the 2010's...he kinda always looked like he was in his 50's.
lol very true.
Lineker is a good snooker player!
Cliff Thorburn Lawrenson :D
How is Gary so good, makes me think just how bad I am, I don't play Snooker/Pool often at all but still, Lineker playing well
You're a decent Tennis player Pete. Probably hand Lineker his arse on grass
Good to see Stephen Lee make an appearance.

oooh Gary...
Massive pockets obviously helped, but Lineker was actually good...
Capped 36 times for Ireland, the Englishman, Mark Lawrenson!
Came to his from the rest is football podcast. Lineker robbed by the ref!
Ayy me too!
Will he go for the loose pink or tight brown
3:10 A touch of excitement from the commentator
Gary Lineker could be able to beat Steve Davis with that level.
Ref admitted it was not a foul, he gave it as he thought it would make it interesting! GL mentions this on the Quickly Kevin podcast.
Lineker actually very decent!
Anyone know why theres a Butcher in the crowd?
Fair play like, but still...I've never seen pockets that huge in my life!
Decent player Lineker
Anything Lineker not good at?
Lineker ain't too bad!
Lineker is decent but those pockets are massive. That black he played up into the yellow pocket would never have went on a match table
He fuck.. Lmao Gary is a G for this
Mr Cheese

I was thinking the same... he's definitely a Polymath!
Lineker supposedly having a lifetime best of 136.
Yeah I heard he has managed at least a century break and on this evidence I believe it... decent snooker player obviously..
Willie throne came out with some crap about lineker being a regular century break player and a top of 140. More bullshite from thorne
wrong he was a regular at willies club .an had a few 100s in my old club in Tottenham
@@williamryan6162 I used to play in Tottenham handicaps when I was 14 some good players in there but lineker weren't one of them.
he played up there with vinny samways gazza mick hazard .and a few other pros not in comps . ps there was 2 clubs in Tottenham where did you go
