4 years ago, "We Expect the Hype to Die". I saw them at Brutal Assault on Friday and the hype definitely hasn't died. It is even bigger! What an amazing intense show and the crowd loved it.
I spotted Mr. Gagneux and one of their other backup vocalists outside a venue just a couple of hours before their show. I spoke to him very briefly, he was really down to earth and humble. He also smiled at me. Guy has a good head on this shoulders. Wish i could have said more to him but was incredibly nervous! I don't regret it though.
I’ve been a huge fan since their first record came out in 2016. Finally saw them in Minneapolis after a 5 hour drive, the show was so crazy good, it hurt. I managed to get a setlist and Manuel’s guitar pick that he left on the stage (I’m a thief, I know) but I wouldn’t trade that show for anything. Absolutely recommend seeing this band before you die.
Incredible band. Saw them on a lark in Vancouver with my wife. We loved it so much that we went down to Seattle to see them the next night. The hype is very well deserved.
Aw man I saw him right outside the venue at the concert on the 13th! I was so excited but I instantly got nervous and didn't say anything to him. I wish I had, he's really cool and they super killed it at the show. It was a show I'll definitely take to the grave with me; I'll be riding this high for a while!!
i just discovered the band and I'M IN LOVE, this genre needs to be a thing, I would be really sad if I had to listen to the same two albums over and over
Oh boy how wrong you were dude. Not only the hype didn't die, i believe it even got more fans and your music even got way cooler and harsher especially with the last album.
With metalheads once you have made a fan we never leave. Hype will go but I WILL BE buying listening and telling others to do the same with Zeal and Ardor till I die. Same with Metallica, Queen, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Thy art is murder, Infant Annihilator, Cattle Decapition, Arsonists get all the girls, Poison, Twisted sister, and tooooooo many to keep listing.
So that deal they made, branding in trade for loot, was supposed to be a clear message that just wholely identifying, or marking yourself, for a simple gain is bad. The message wasn't really received after the first couple of people, but after the last he either decided the message was going to be missed, or the people receiving the brand were doing so fully conscious of what it was supposed to mean, but wanted the swag and stuff anyway. Zeal & Ardor is, at least as far as Manuel's explanation goes, is an interesting thought project that's literally about opposing the concept of slaves embracing the generally individualistic religion or faith that is Satanism. So the idea of people willing to submit to a brand of a group that's literally about not being branded, not being a slave, not being subject to others, is sort of antithetical to the band itself.
Even if the hype dies, i'm still gonna buy their music.
Same here
S-s-s-same.
Well, the hype just started for me as I only discovered them two months ago

Manuel is extremely humble. This band is art.

I was hooked the first time I heard devil is fine. The oddball sounds and styles all mixed together is amazing. Definitely keep the "music boxes".

Hey I think I was at the same show, where you upfront with me and there was a drunk douche in the front next to us?
as long as Zeal & Ardor make good music, the hype will never die! Choo! Choo!
This was a great interview. The way Manuel approach to their success is cool. Not getting inside his head, down to earth.
3 years after this interview they are still picking up traction and opening new eyes and ears!
He's complacent to his wave of hype dying down, but with everything happening in the world right now, a new Z&A record would be a godsend.
I love this band.
"Come on down" to Atlanta GA!! Hype or not, honored to be a fan!
Incredible band. Saw them on a lark in Vancouver with my wife. We loved it so much that we went down to Seattle to see them the next night. The hype is very well deserved.

Given what's going in in the United States right now I think we need more music from this band more than ever.

2 years later and I’m barely finding out about this band and I’m super stoked about it. My hype is at 100%
The devil is fine.
Still one of my favorite bands.
This man is a musical genius. If he were around 30 years ago he would have been huge.

Oh boy how wrong you were dude. Not only the hype didn't die, i believe it even got more fans and your music even got way cooler and harsher especially with the last album.

what does he mean about the branding when he says "The cats out of the bag?" I didnt really understand the conversation other than branding is bad lol
