    Nice stove Ernie. I really like the looks of it. Great features. I do in fact keep a propane camp stove in my kitchen. Bought it at Walmart many years ago. Uses the green 1 pound propane bottles. I have used it countless times during power outages and it is awesome. I highly recommend having one even if you don't camp. Thanks for sharing brother.

    In a backup burner I would expect a multy-fuel option. It would want it to work with oil, petroleum or gasoline.

      gas one makes a dual fuel propane/butane stove, or you can buy adapters. these canisters are popular with caterers so there's going to be good availability, even if you don't have an Asian supermarket nearby.

    Here at the house we have one of the old large Coleman stoves (I think it's 2-burner if I remember correctly) and it works really well. We just keep it in a closet in case of emergencies. This little stove looks like it'd be great for somebody that does Overlanding or camping where they have proximal access to their car but space may still finite. I have a few butane cans that I purchased with a crème brule torch that would work nicely with one of these.

  • @Red_Proton
    @Red_Proton Před 3 lety +1

    Great idea! I like having emergency backups. One kind of fuel I'd like to recommend is kerosene. It's a lot less combustible, and explosive, than butane, propane, and other popular fuels. Kerosene stoves are still being manufactured, so brand new stoves are available - single burner, two, three, and I think four burners. I think you might be interested. Thanks a lot for your videos.

    • @wisenber

    As a grown man, I don't often use this adjective, but that thing is totally "cute", in a techy sort of way. Sure won't end up broken in the closed mode. Are the canisters more affordable than a comparable screw on propane tank? Let's see how it works in very cold weather. Kinda cool, but not for me. Thanks for the video 👍☺.

    How long does the burner stay hot after turning it off.? To be able to pack it away after use? It seems like a great stove for some of the types of camping that I do, or a portable stove for my workplace, so I don't always use the microwave oven to cook/reheat food, sometimes also.

A little bigger but same weight, 50% more heat output (12k vs 8k) and $8 cheaper. Very well made for Chinese table top cooking. I own two of these. I'd also recommend getting a portable CO monitor if you're planning on using the stove indoors and don't already have one. Most of these burners that say they are okay for indoor use are assuming that you have a commercial ventilation system.

    • @joshuathompson4162
      @joshuathompson4162 Před 4 lety +1

    Thank you 👍. Going on Amazon now to check to take a look. Is it ok from a “fumes” perspective to burn butane in home?

    • @davidrickard5616
      @davidrickard5616 Před 4 lety +1

      From a "fumes" perspective, if you smell it, it isn't getting enough oxygen. That means incomplete combustion, the products thereof which contain higher levels of CO (carbon monoxide.) The body "likes" (for some odd reason) CO better than O2 which means the CO binds to the Hemoglobin easier, but it won't release easier either. That is why a little bit is OK, but more than a little bit is bad, very bad. Always provide more than enough air to any gas burning stove (other than exotic gases as a caveat.)

    A much neater option than the ubiquitous cheapo Chinese butane stove.
    People should be cautious using butane indoors though, good ventilation essential.
    My preferred option would be to use a Trangia type burner using Bioethonal as this is the least dangerous fuel to burn indoors, no carbon monoxide but still pumps out Carbon Dioxide small doses of which are safe.
