awesome! watching from Australia great show
Turnin Rust
Keep up the cool videos about bringing the dead rides back to life.
Thanks
Just found you and really enjoy the videos, you have some kind of
"raw" feeling in the way the videos are montaged as well, very refreshing. Would you happen to know the song that starts at 1:05:25 ? Pretty fitting
Shitty gas in tank
I just sat for an hour and six minutes to watch two guys crank up a classic car. And oddly enough, this was far more entertaining than anything on TV. Also, the trailer hitch was a stellar addition.
The money is in getting you to watch for as long as possible, youtube pays
Real tv for sure not that scripted reality bullshit
@Glenn Statham so? Free to us and it pays them to keep bringing us more free great content.
Nothing odd about it sir. Mainly cuz this is quality viewing and today's TV is garbage
I feel the same. Love watching stuff like this.
The Young man has excellent manners and treats the owner with great respect.
Frank O'Neill @Frank ... Mr. Frank, that’s Texas! This video is a few hours drive from me. I hear from everyone who moves here, “Texans are so nice and friendly!” Yes, it depends on how you’re raised. My parents were raised in the country. Mom was up at 4am gathering dairy cows, chores, one room schoolhouse, help run a dairy farm, 12 brothers/sisters! Mom moved to Houston at 17, ALONE!! Daddy moved here in ‘46. I thank God everyday for my wonderful parents and the great heritage I’ve been given!
Yes sir no sir sir sir sir sir sir can I shine your apple
There is NO PLACE ON 🌍 like Texas! We rock!😎

Your dad seems like a genuine fella. Like the quiet type if you know what I mean. Your not to bad yourself. BRILLIANT 👍👍👍👍👍👊
*PONTIAC TRANS AM's were awesome - that body style never gets old!!!*
My old man had a gold one in '78...Dropped me off at Jr. High one day and the kids freaked out 😁
Correction Aris Trans am's Are and always well be AWESOME Love my 73 T/A....
Sergio Jacquez the only good trans am is the 70 1/2
@@jeffleblanc8850 It was abandoned for a reason, one of the worst cars ever made.
@@bilbobaggins4710 Cool! I still have a gold 78
I was an engineer at Pontiac from 1970 to 1980. I used to drive new Firebird Trans Ams to visit vendors etc. Pretty cool cars. Fun to watch you bring them back to life.
Pontiac motors are muisic listen and u will hear all that heavenly father
1973 had a nice refined look to them.
I had an 81 turbo. I loved mine. Wish I still had it.
Wow! The 70 TA 455 SD was a torque monster. I had a 70 LeMans S 455 that would destroy tires.
It's great to see guys like you are still out there. I learned to do the same growing up and wrenching on cars with my dad. Drive down the road with no brakes. No problem. Yep, dad would have done that too! Can't argue with the results. You got it to the garage. Nice job guys.
Yum
I love how polite you guys are, always yes sir and such
This video gave me the feels, I used to work on the cars as a kid with my father, now I don't have many good memories of my father, he was an alcoholic and he was into all sorts of drugs, but I do have some good memories of working on the old trans am with him, it was an 81' as well. Watching you talk with the customer and remember the memories you and he both had to the vehicles that was something else, I could really connect to it.
How I miss the ol days being 10 and fiddling around in some carbs and the being outside all day. Sure aint that way anymore.
Well save ur money up & go find u something 2 build & work on & fix u with ur tru best friends/ tru family..& make new great times & take pictures & makes video of ur build once u find something that is 4 sale that u want 2 own & enjoy life with ur friends & family...all u got 2 do is try & work hard & dont give up . Be a simple kind of man. Like how the song goes..u can do this if u try...remember that song ? If u dont u better start listening 2 it. It will help u focus & get ur mind right..
It tickles my feels too. My old man was a drunk military disciplinarian and he built blue printed rods as his main hobby. He never taught me a damn thing about it as he didn't want me being seen or heard. 78 trans was my first car...i bought it myself with my own money but i couldn't do it justice and it ended up in the garage for so long that my mother insisted i sell it. I still don't drink, beat my kid or wrench on cars.
@@problematic1417 well im sorry 4 ur loss.if u really ever want 2 learn how 2 build something there r a whole lot of people like me that would help u learn & or point u in the right direction. There aint nothing like building something with ur all ur skill & knowledge that u earn & delevope there is all kind of books 2 educate ur self..u could start off with RC CARS like i did on my own that come in kits that they sell online. Those kits will teach u alot & u will gain all kinds of skills & learn all kinds of stuff that u can apply 2 full size passion rides..i say start off with a GRASS HOPPER. RC DUNE BUGGY..They sell them on amazon.i got one 4 one of my newphews 4 xmas. There r also all kinds if youtube videos about them..good luck i hope u find happiness in life & make new goid memories 2 cancel out bad one u have.. u can always make new good memories .like some one said in the movie called THE PUNISHER with TOM JANE..
@@svr27rr87 Much appreciated. I self taught to be a carpenter/contractor though. 27 years self employed now. Historic restorations is my specialty but really I just end up doing it all...property line to rooftop is my motto. That trans was the only car I ever owned as I became a truck owner at an early age. My mechanic is pretty much the only person I ever pay to do anything for me. He can fix with a wrench what i can't beat with a hammer. Not to say I can't wrench but I can't wrench at the same confidence level that I can do other things. I am wrenching on my backhoe right now mostly because I can't just drive it to my usual mechanic. I do have a low milage/strong f250 that needs a new bed...once the backhoe is running I think I'll drop an oak on the mill and make myself one.
@@problematic1417 NICE.
This video brought a huge smile to my face. It reminded me of me and my late father. I purchased a 86 Monte Carlo SS that had been sitting for years. We went and tinkered with it and drove it home. We were shocked at how well it ran after sitting so long. I drove it about half way home while dad followed in another car. I pulled over and he thought something was wrong. I said nope, it's your turn to drive it. His eyes lit and and a huge smile was on his face. When he pulled out onto the road he was sideways and smoke was boiling from the tires. It was no stock 305, it was a built 350 and it was strong. Memories like that last forever. Thanks for the great video. And a 78 with t tops is one of my all time dream cars.
GREAT story! Thanks
That was nice of him to throw in the vice grips so you can roll down the windows :)
Man how many vicegrip Windows good memories haha
Great job! Brings tears of joy to see something rise from the dead.
Love to see them run again. It is an easily an addiction. That first time an engine cranks that hasn't run in years is the greatest of sounds.
Nuthun' compares to them first few minutes when youre blowin dead rodents and dog chow out of the exhaust...yeah buddy!
Love that YT name!!!!!
The pine needles along bottom of windshield was killing my OCD, wanted to reach through the screen and wipe them off lol
Yes, as a pro painter and corrosion specialist, pine needles, leaf's,moss, are death to these old cars.👍😁🐒
Yeah, the pine needles were bugging me too ! lol
LOLOL
Chief Goose that sounds like a you kind of problem
@@vipervidsgamingplus5723 I think he made that pretty clear.
Good job, i love doing this. Bought a 89 Camaro hadn't run in 3 yrs, didnt have much history on it, had the wrecker drop it nose first in my garage, went thought it with my detective hat on lucky it wasn't to hacked up. Got it running, ran the spiders off, love this. Seeing the channel locks used to pull the sockets from the Pittsburg socket rails brought back a lot of memories.
Why don't yall ever show the final product? I'd really like to see how this car turned out and if it ever got road Worthy again.
Thank you Chris Ward, you just saved an hour of my life.
Axlerod Horowitz Probably side project that are funded on the side by running a real shop with customers cars being repaired first so they can support their families and pay the bills day to day!!!

Why so much negativity everywhere you look these days!!!!!
@@rogerrolex6981 This ain't anything new, Roger. The internet just strips the veneer off for people, and you see who they really are. It's always so sad.
@Axlerod Horowitz Unfortunately, Your %100 right on that.
@Axlerod Horowitz - Judging by the fact that they took an almost dead battery, no new plugs, a damn near empty brake fluid bottle, no momentary contact replacement start switch, they didn't have a clue how to field clean the starter & lube it, AND - the WORST OF ALL, they didn't even know the goddamn firing order on the engine. These idiots were using smart phones for flashlights, when they could have Googled the damn firing order, & the cylinder location. (they probably didn't know that either !) My mom could have done a FAR better job !
I heard them mention the car needed a "new carb". They don't even know how to rebuild Carbs ? I'm absolutely shocked they knew how to put air in the tires !
I have to tell you: this is absolutely fascinating to watch. Seriously, thank you for doing this. The camera work makes you feel like you're right there.
The guy is respectful as well. 73-76 is my dream car. But love anything TA haha great video
Whatever you do, make sure you give that guy a ride in that car when its finished.

Draining oil would be a good idea next time...
The car is Kindof Rusty but it's old
One of my all time favourite cars. Brings back a lot of childhood memories. Nice to see good old fashioned trust between folks too. The guy gave them a great deal. You’d expect to pay upwards of £10,000 for a decent Trans Am here in the UK.
I can’t stop watching this show keep it going love to see old cars come alive
Love seeing the old girl roar back to life! And, a little sad and jealous because your dad was right there with you, because those memories are priceless.
Make another video showing the work you did to bring it back to roadworthiness -- I know you two do great work!
Trans Ams and Z28's...memories of cruising around blasting Judas Priest and Motley Crue. Good ol days.
Heck ya. Just scored a factory yellow 78 Z28 on a trade!

@@jesse8330 Yall really didn't get in on the hot ones. Who cared what tunes were going, you couldn't hear them for the exhaust note. Shades of dropping the dumps and taking on all comers. Going home from college in 68 I'd get out of the city proper, drop the dumps and my best friend and I spent a glorious 140 miles loafing along at 120 watching the light show under the car bouncing off the scenery around us. Tunes? Those were the best.
Sorry, I am in my sons CZcams acct. However, hearing her start over for the 1st time in a decade made me tear up. Bringing life back to a car like this is beyond amazing. I myself have a 99. Love it.
This is one of my favourite clips of all time. Thank and stay safe. Jim.
The wonders of living somewhere without road salt.
Texas
hell after that "non corrosive" shit dalton mcginty decided to throw on the roads up here I'd be happy to go back to road salt, the shit we have now eats steel, aluminium, plastic, rubber, it even degrades fiberglass, about 10x faster than salt ever did
@Jess W Yeah, but we get more black widows out here. One could fall on your face if you go under an old car like that.
Parking them on grass isn’t good at all

hats off to you guys for gettin it goin, and buying old trans ams, they were my favorite cars back in the day.
Great Job getting her going! I have a 77 TA that my son and I fixed up. Going to start putting it in our cooking videos starting this week. Thanks for the great video.
@Kroger hello,how are you doing
Omg $1800 for both ? Holy shit. That 81 with t-tops is my dream car !
We're gonna' do what they say can't be done. Plus free visegrips!
That's what I thought too!! I was trying to figure out if it was 18 each or for the pair
The one that kinda drove books for about 6k right now plus no T top is rarer.
You come too ny cars in worse shape that’s easy 3,500 all day
And that would be just the worse of the two
Rochester, mechanical fuel pump and hei, pinnacle of reliability. Love it, nothing like meeting good ppl and wrenching. Appreciate it bud’
Qjets had an issue of leaking fuel on the bottom , however a great carb.
Love the second gen Trans Ams. The first car that my father and I looked into reviving was a black/gold '76 TA that had been hit pretty hard in the front. This was in '79 (I was only 17) and we(I) decided it would be too much work. Within a few years we would go on to tackle similar projects. Wish we would have grabbed the Pontiac.
Whenever they tell you “I’ll tell you what” you’re in for a deal
I’d be all over those cars for $1800! That’s a score. Needs lots of work but will be worth it.
When my son was sick (leukemia) his mom rode with him in the plane and my daughter just twenty two then, went with me in my trans am, to Harbor view and we made it right along with the support of the mounties, well a short time. Yes we did drive the wheels off her, it never gave us any hiccups. I wish to thank them again for turning blind eye to us as we went down the west side of the Fraser river canyon and on to Seattle. I had mine running every day and it held the road like it was glued. After all said and done had to get rid of it for medication and the other guy wrecked it. My daughter said; to bad you don't know how to drive as dad an I held it to the floor when we could and it seen the peg lots and never offered to give a inch. I looked at the guy and said; she's right as she hit the peg before I did on the trip and then after that it seemed like crawling if it wasn't at least a hundred +. Cops will verify cause they did tell us on the straight aways give her what she has and as long as you use common sense, we won't bother you and good luck. Couldn't figure if you were ever going to give it a little gas till dad run the throttle up. Had to blow cobwebs out of pipes. Any time you leave Anchorage to Seattle in less than forty hours and right side up, you are putting miles behind you.
Thing these guys sure brings back memories of when my stepdad was teaching me to be a mechanic. I would have put a little oil in the cylinders. And overhauled the carburetor and starter befor I tried to crank it up. The old man taught me well.
I absolutely love the-father-son working relationship. Awesome!
please keep us informed on this car! rebuild it...!!! video the rebuild!!!! awesome !!

Hey guys, your intro is so professionally done, I closed the video the first time around because I thought this was some cheesy ass Discovery channel show! Glad I came back to it and actually watched, it's good stuff! Its feels kind of like a TV production, but without the nonsense and drama, refreshing.
That was really cool of that guy to let y'all work on his land. Old school southern guys like that are always a pleasure to deal with. Reminds me of my grandaddy.

CaptainNonsense So very true, I bought an airplane near Duncan Ok, Gentleman seller let us use his hangar, tools and parts and left us to it for two weeks to get it running, Made us feel sortve bad we’d never see that in our home state of California
I saw cars like these when they were brand new, such a difference now. GM built many, many of them but most succumbed to rust about 3 decades ago. Thanks for bringing this one back, there is greatness there boys!
I love what you guys are doing. Really inspirational in always trying to find a way to make it work.
Admiro muito o trabalho de vocês, profissão louvável. Parabéns
Thanks guys, it was such an awesome experience watching this video as you guys brought this old girl back to life. I love Trans Am's 79 and 81 and even the 82 3rd gens are awesome. But this one is truly one special TA. Glad you guys are giving her a 2nd lease on life.
You guys are living the dream finding BEAUTIFUL GM cars an trucks an giving them life again
My brother had a '78 back in the day, wasn't much from the factory as far as performance of course, but they responded very well to basic bolt on mods. One of the car magazines (Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding, don't remember which) drag tested a '76 455 Trans Am before and after mods(cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, headers, real high performance dual exhaust), quarter mile times dropped from 16s to mid 12s.
Just started watching your channel. Love the content guys. Little tip on spark plug wires that are stuck, use hose pliers to get off. You can get the ends just past the boot and pull the wire off. Hope that helps 👌
You guys make a great team and this was not only fun to watch - but also inspirational. Great job.
You guy's are too cool. Love when you pulled up at the shop got out of the car and said it wasn't the smartest thing in the world to drive it back without brakes and in the background there's a personal injury attorney on the billboard behind you, awesome job!
Putting a starter in a Trans Am that's in a field w no jack or ramps is pretty impressive.
Just saw this video today Jan, 20, 2020 and the vision of what that car can be again gives me goose bumps . Those cars bring back great memories ! Just subbed , can't wait to go look for an update video on it !

Agreed, the 87 V6 Firebird, too much fun, got one, it runs like it's freshly hitting fresh air and new to pavement
I had a '78 TA bought new for $7800. Chesterfield brown with camel interior. My favorite car of all time. Thank you gentlemen.
I felt I was there with you guys. Great camera angles. Thanks for taking us along!!
Great work guys. I love seeing videos like this. It's great to see there are still people out there who care for these old antiuques and continue to find and restore them to give them a longer future.
Heroic effort! Bravo
I've got a 1978 Trans Am, that same color. I bought it from a guy who pulled it from a junk yard. After putting together the drive train and replacing most of the interior, I've got it back on the road.
I'm so glad other people are able to fill the gap left by a CZcams show I won't mention created by a popular magazine service that left CZcams to go to subscription services. It's awesome to watch a video that goes from stuck in the dirt to driving again in a single clip. So many others out there have "clip 1, watch me change the oil. clip 2, I'm changing a battery. clip 3, I'm driving it and forgot to upload the other clips. clip 4, i'm driving to the locksmith to have a key made". I mean, let's see the stuff people actually want to see!! Great video, looking forward to the rest! You've definitely earned another subscriber. Now to go watch the Opal video :)
Skrodekill?
I love the way thes guys are doing their videos we need more like this guy's keep up the good work
@@FreddyFunderbunz The add revenue generated by Motor Trend (or any channel with millions of subscribers) would've been more than enough to pay for the creation of content and turn a profit. Channels like Hoovies Garage show this as he occasionally reveals the add revenue from certain videos and it's often six figures. That's more than enough to cover a large production team (who are already on a salary from motor trend) and also turn a profit. The truth is Motor Trend got gready. They figured there were enough people like yourself who didn't understand how CZcams add revenue works to sell a subscription. They were right, but they lost the CZcams community. CZcams doesn't take a cut of their subscription revenue, but they also don't get the same exposure they did when their content was free to view (but generating lots of add revenue) on CZcams.
They're making more money, but reaching less people. Great formula for profit, not a good formula for growth and introducing the next generation to the brand. They also managed to annoy a lot of people who had supported their growth by watching adds which made them money.
I used to run an online marketing company. The Motortrend model is used as a "what not to do" in brand and content monetisation. Their hard core subscribers like yourself can defend them to the hilt, but after you guys stop paying your subscriptions nobody else will have even heard of them, they'll have experienced very little growth, and will have been replaced in the minds of the next generation by brands like Hoonigan who use the merchandise model to churn out tons and tons of content with just as high, sometimes higher production value as MT, all free to view.
Motor trend is just run by old guys who didn't understand the value of free to view content. Fortunately for them in the short term there are enough people who don't understand youtubes add revenue who buy the whole "these videos don't make money" lie they MT pedalled.
Enjoy your subscription. I enjoy watching all the roadkill episodes for free after people rip them and make them available for free download. The old guys at Motortrend up in thay big office building still making those paper magazines never really considered that would even be an issue I guess.

More of these type of videos please! Reminds me of when I work on cars with my family.
I got to about 5 minutes and wanted to cry. Reminded me of my poor ole' 79 10th anniversary limited edition bandit style TA thats been sitting outside in storage for about 18 years now :'( Rebuilt that 403 Olds K-block with my brother back in '91. That damn crank comin back from being mic'd and polished with a scatch in one of the journals. Which spun on me 8 years later. Remember takin my dad out for a 1/4 mile run to get his opinion, first time ever in my life I ever heard him say, "Yeah she's got some big balls." I miss drivin that damn thing so much. Not to mention workin on it when I had the time. Now I got all the time, but a bad back from the war... so there it sits all broken hearted, wants to run low 12's but cant even get it started. lol Thanks for the great upload. Nothing like a little walk down memory lane and seein the crack that twisted your ankle. ;-) God all the great memories I have from that one car... a bunch more than from my ex-wife that for sure!

Damn, so cool to see it running. I love my Marty Blue 78 with Butler POWER!!!
Man that 77 trans am alone is worth more than $1800. I would have bought the 77 for that much by itself.
Good video very informative and I learned a few things I'm,62 and I bought my first 1978 firebird spirit T top in March 1980 it had a 350 and I also had the 1978 Grand Prix also W/ t top after that I think that's when Pontiac went down hill I was sorry to see that.
It’s worth the time and money to bring a Trans Am back to life...I’d love to be able to do what y’all do...the closet to a TransAm/Firebird/Formula I’ve ever came close to was a Pontiac Grand Prix...drinks are on me!!!
And YES I did subscribe!! 👍🏼👍🏼
