  • "HR must be the voice of the employee at the executive table. That is your job."
Global thought leader Simon Sinek recently addressed a critical aspect of organisational health during his conversation with us here at the Human Capital Leadership Institute. He highlighted the pivotal role HR plays in fostering a thriving workplace.

Agree. HR plays a vital role in making the work environment healthy and encouraging. They should see things on a macro level in order not to have a toxic work environment. It’s all about professionalism and work ethics that needs to be instilled in every employee being hired. Hence the word “Human” in HR. Inspire and motivate to have people believe that they belong, whether family-oriented or corporate-oriented. It’s the way to go to make them stay long or for good within the company.

I love you Simon- you inspire me!! PLEASE advise on the opposite of this issue; mostly Millennials and a few boomers who don't want to put in a full day anymore- brining their problems to managers/HR and wanting them to fix them. They constantly ask for additional time off to "meet the cable guy," "I gotta visit my sick mom" "my back hurts and I cant sit up, can I work from home today?", "I need 2 extra days of leave so I can have a full 7 days of vacation" and the list goes on. The Millennials are especially shameless when it come to asking you for "extra's, they feel its their right because they've been taught to "stand up for yourself" which they confuse with "taking advantage". My company firmly believes in work/life balance, but when an employee(s) constantly takes advantage of your good will its disruptive to the whole staff. PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!

I'm working for HR, but most organizations do not know the actual duties of HR. Sadly I also can't stand for employees. Because top management believes that they know everything.

I get what Simon is trying to say, but it addresses a symptom, not the cause. This is a systemic problem in organisations...HR is trying to have a seat at the table when, in fact, they should be in every seat at the table. What if we had "Resources for Humans" and not looking at humans as another resource. "Humans are resourceful, not resources." - a Clarism.
