Just saw him live in Barcelona yesterday and wasn't a big follower, just wanted to assist to a good jazz concert, but oh lord, Pat Metheny has to be probably the best guitar alive right now, the best live concert i have ever had the pleasure to assist, another planet's performance. I hope my father could have heard what I did yesterday. Just discovered a genius.

I know those days are gone and can't be repeated, but the Group era was the part I liked best of Metheny's career.

PM is a gift from God and an American treasure. We are lucky to have him living in our time. If you hear him talk, he is very aware of his significance in history and that he is blessed with genius, but somehow he doesn't seem overly conceited, maybe because his big ego is equaled by what he delivers with his art. He is unequaled in his field as a trailblazer, setting a high bar for anybody who tries to follow him.
Pat Matheny music always takes you on a musical journey and brings you back 🏡 home....wow!

“It Starts When We Disappear” from PM’s latest record, is the name of the track. The video, with a different band (obviously) is from the Unity Group video from a few years ago.
Listened to one of Metheny's compositions of decades past titled "James" in Denton, Texas last night. A jazz quartet preformed near where he and Lyle were students 40 years ago. A special place after all these years.
Lyle attended UNT but not Pat. Pat went to Miami as a student and was a teacher within a very short period of time, after a semester or something Gary Burton got him to Berklee. i'm an obsessive fan of many years, not a know it all at all! LOL
@@eleetse6701 Didn't know that, but sort of inferred at one of his concerts it was Pat too. I did hear an interview recently where Lyle attended the Wichita Jazz Festival and was referred to Pat Metheny by Dan Hearle. Frank Zappa was there that year.

it looks like a recording of one of their concerts, but this track 'It Starts When We Disappear' is playing., it's none the less, an awesome track, I love just about everything PMG & Bruce Metheny alone does instrumentally.

That saxophonist is the astonishing Chris Potter........probably the most influential pure creative force right now......Brecker so important to Pat....in Chris a rebirth
yup! watch it again & observe how when the saxophonist is sometimes playing, you hear no saxophone & at the end, you hear clapping, but the musicians are all playing. But, I love PMG, and have most of my adult life since I 1st heard his 'Are You Going With Me' in 1983 & watched the original video that was them actually playing the track, and have watched him twice in Concert, which is phenomenal, and plan to see him again in his most recent tour.
Watch closer and none of the video matches anything and is just choppy and basically looped.

We got to sneak backstage after his show in Portland. He was a bit startled, but was nice about it all as long as we kept our masked distance. We try to catch up with him whenever he hits the road. Always very nice to talk with.

Not crazy with the instrument mixing. Tough for me to hear Pat's guitar and the sax in some of this. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, great jazz track by my fav jazz artist.
