- I recently got a pet water fountain for Caymus due to his renal disease and constant thirst. Actually, I bought one right when it started, when a friend said that her Ragdolls liked. He was scared of it. So I returned it - thanks, Amazon Prime.
And then a few weeks ago, a guy was commenting on a number of our CZcams videos about cat water fountains, and he was saying how his cat couldn't stay away from this one that he had purchased. So I bought it. And also, I could always return it. Turns out, it's been a hit.
Although it has a flower thing to disperse the water like a fountain, you can remove it and just use it as a bubbler cat drinking fountain. It seems like Caymus and Murphy both prefer a bubbler fountain.
Although this one is plastic, it has a stainless steel top - so their chin, if it hits, hits that. And as the guy I was commenting back and forth with on CZcams about fountains said - "You cannot avoid plastic in water fountains." It's in every single one.
My parents also have a 3-year old German Shepherd, he can drink from it too because it's just plugged in in my parents' bathroom. But he doesn't have any interest in it - maybe because the drinking reservoir is so shallow?

Hi. My cat also had health issues and you may want to try this. Animals cannot process the minerals or toxins in tap water. Vets will tell you this is not true but they either don’t know or don’t want to know. And most filters cannot filter properly. You may want to try fully purified drinking water (I get mine by the gallon at Walmart.
It’s filtered by reverse osmosis and called Great Value Purified Drinking Water). This healed not only mine but both my cats health issues. There is quite an epidemic out there of human and animal health issues being caused by the tap or bottled water.
Plastic pumps yes but you can have the whole thing as ceramic with no other plastic. Plastic is bad for health in humans and animals. Avoid. Buy all ceramic or all stainless steel.
@@martinaharrison9538 That would be rad - I am unaware of a pump or a filter that isn't made of plastic in cat water fountains. Do you know of one?
I bought a different version of this water fountain for my 19 yr old Ragdoll, Gunnar, who battled Stage 4 Renal disease this summer. He lost his battle this past Wed. 9/9 😭. Gunnar loved the water fountain so much that even when he stopped eating the last 2 days, he would still sit and drink a lot of water from the fountain. He sat because he was unable to stand for long at that point. Our fountain was square and all plastic. I used the daisy accessory which was the only one included. Fortunately Gunnar never had chin acne in his life. Gunnar's favorite place in the world to nap all day was my screened in deck. I always put his fountain out there as well as a litter box. He communicated with me that it was time to let go the day before he went to Rainbow Bridge (besides not eating) by not wanting to be outside on the deck. He used to meow at the door and scratch on it daily telling me he wanted out there. He didn't do that that day. So I carried him out there to help him. He came straight to the door to want back in. He definitely was communicating with me. I miss him SO MUCH. I still expect to see him come around the corner of the room each morning. Gunnar was my last if 3 Ragdoll. Bet breed of cat Hands Down!!! Caymus still looks really good and is getting around great. I'm happy for him, your parents and you. (By the way, I don't live far from KC. I'm in St. Louis).
i am so very sorry. i am dreading that day. i am glad you had him for 19 years - and i am sure he is still around, and that's why you feel him around. you know you can always submit Gunnar for Ragdoll of the Week on the site, if you want - here are the guidelines for submission - www.floppycats.com/ragdoll-of-the-week.html
I’m so sorry for your loss.
@@Floppycats My mother bought that for our two cats and neither of them wanted to drink from it
Sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a pet.
I’m so very sorry. I lost Prince very suddenly and thought he was a ragdoll. Looked a lot like ones in the video. I always described him as a dogcat. He was so friendly and smart. Followed me everywhere, came when called(almost always) and wouldn’t mind if other cats hissed at him. He’s just ignore it. Slept on my chest every night. Was very cute and very difficult to sleep after he passed. I feel like he was Himalayan but not positive. He was a rescue and I never knew his breed for certain.
I’m sorry for
Your loss. Thanks for sharing your story. 19 years is wonderful. Sadly, I only had 7 years with Prince. I miss him so much
Love these water fountains. Just got one myself
Harry Ragdoll would love this - especially the daisy head attachment. :)
Thank you for showing this drinking fountain. My little girl Zarrah Rose is a little grey rescue I recently adopted and she is 11 years old. I'm trying to get her to drink more water and she loves the water faucet in the tub if I turn it on real slowly. She has two bowls of water but she likes running water the best. This video was helpful and especially the part where you show the flowers and the different water streams that come down. She likes the water to come out in a stream like that. You also said it is quiet which is a good feature because she is kind of sensitive to sounds and gets scared easily. Best of all it's affordable! Thanks again for the review and your kitties are beautiful.🥰🐾 I just went to Amazon and they said it is unavailable.
Oh, then I might have a better solution for you. First of all, if she's on dry, then remove that and feed wet or raw is best. And then add water to her food. But try the AquaPurr amzn.to/4co3iWJ #affiliate

@@crystalheart9 I am glad it was helpful to you. Good luck with your kitty!

I recently purchased this fountain and all three of my Ragdolls love it!!! Cleaning it at least every two weeks is a must I let it go over the two weeks and found some mold floating in it YUK my poor kids! I'm now cleaning it every week.
ironically, i cleaned caymus' fountain today - my mom and i have been changing the water in it daily - but i noticed the filter really got gross. so i will change the filter more often. thanks for the reminder to order more filters. how often were you changing the water in the fountian?
Just set this up. Easy to do. My big boy loves it! My little boy...not so much! Lol we’ll see! He’s inquisitive. I can’t imagine he’ll stay away long. I think it’s going to be great, Jenny! I’ve gone thru so many and this is so simple. Very few parts to clean and/or break. It’s in a a corner in my bathroom since my cats have to live in my “suite” since granddaughter moved back with her dog. I have a revolving front door evidently. Oh well, I sorta love it! ❤️🥴❤️
yes, it is so simple! and i like that you can make it into a bubbler or a fountain.

I just emailed you about this. This is the review I was talking about. I bought this and Slippers LOVES it. I bought the round one too. She only likes it though with the white and yellow flowers spout. Slippers won’t drink from it without the flower like your cats. Every cat is different!
I got your email and will respond to it as well - and yes, every cat is different and good for you for trying the spout! glad she loves it.
I absolutely love my flower fountain silver kitty loves it he drinks Lots of water daily. I have a very similar model metal top fountain & it has a interior blue light that stays on the light will turn to red light if the water level gets low so you won't burn out the water pump. Yes the water pump is replacable if that happens
Nice nitelite I can see my way around the kitty toys walking through my kitchen at night.
I thought this one had a light, but doesn’t appear to be
Which brand did you buy? I'm planning to buy one for my cat.

On Amazon
NICREW Cat Water Fountain, Cat flower drinking fountain.Has stainless steel bowl with led blue light and a low water level red light & auto shutoff feature.
This is a similar model to the fountain I purchased.
I highly recommend this type of fountain
Steel bowl stay clean longer & don't harbor bacteria. Flower has several water options low bubbler, flower top with streaming bubbling soft falling water sound. My kitty loves his fountain & drinks lots of water.
Fountain requires water fountain filters & need to be changed regularly.
I clean my fountain regularly soap & water. Change water rinse the unit and refill every 2 days. If water start getting frothy & slimy time to clean unit. Good luck 🐾
I have two of this type of fountain and have been using them for about 4 months.
Mine have the little indicator light that’s blue for good and it turns red and shuts off the pump if the water gets too low. It works fine and if you keep it filled to the upper level it is soundless, even when using the yellow flower- which my two kittens seem to like. It is easy to clean and comes with cleaning brushes too.
I don’t use the filters ( I am not sure what chemicals are in them ) and use bottled spring water instead.
I clean out the fountains every week.
I like the fact it is so quiet and the lit water indicator the best , and the stainless top is better for the kittens. I have been really pleased with our,
Thanks for sharing. I have to switch water daily. I can’t imagine drinking week old water. But maybe it’s different than tap water after 24 hours. I try to drink tap water after 24 hours in a glass and spit it out.
@@Floppycats If the water is constantly flowing and being moved through the filter, assuming it's a clean filter, isn't that quite a bit different than stagnant water left overnight in a glass? I am picking up my first Ragdoll kitty in a couple of days and have also bought a fountain. It's a little different but same principle. So since I haven't used it yet, I'm not sure. But it seemed to me that water through a fountain will stay fresher than water sitting in a bowl. My dogs always just drank from a bowl and I would change that each morning and night so changing water isn't an issue. I'm sort of equating it with my fish tank filters which draw water through them constantly, removing impurities, waste, etc and returning cleaner water to the tank. Then weekly or bi-weekly, I clean filters and change half the tank water.
@@suedonnelly438 I am not sure - I am no moving water/fountain expert. I just think the idea of days old water is gross. Your comparison between fish tanks, etc. makes sense. Do you have your kitten yet?
@@Floppycats Hoping for middle of this coming week. Can't wait. Lost my elderly dog (17 yrs) this past June and it's been too quiet around here.
@@suedonnelly438 so sorry to hear about the loss of your pup. Waiting for a new kitty - I can understand the "can't wait".
Thank you for your review, think I will give this one a try. My guy also needs to be well hydrated due to a medical condition. His Foster Folks had a fountain so I bought the same thing. Not sure if it was defective...he liked it but it didn't work so great. Now we have a different one, even with frequent cleaning and filter changing it gets yucky carbon smudges. And he will use it for only a few days after the fresh filter is added. Plus it doesn't have a window to see the water level. Going to give this one a go. 😊
i hope it works for you. it's pretty darn easy to clean too - i did a video showing how to clean it here: czcams.com/video/pSccfLfIuMI/video.html
Of all the water fountains I have purchased this is the one my cat likes the best Bought it from Chewy it's called Pioneer Pet Big Max stainless steel. It is awful expensive and so are the filters but that's OK. I buy her water that has been filtered by osmosis. This looks like a good inexpensive fountain thanks for video
The cat isn't getting the minerals it should with osmosis water, as all the minerals are removed. I use filtered water, but not distilled or reverse osmosis water, so my cats get the minerals they should. I'd rather put up with cleaning their water containers with vinegar to remove the mineral buildup, than leave them mineral deprived.
Nice fountain....if the kitty drinks...it's perfect! Nice to see caymus, jenny! Dawn cierelli
I've checked several videos for this fountain and yours is one of a few that show and explain the black sponge filter (which has to be replaced every so often) next to the pump. Thanks!
yay! glad you found it helpful!
I got this one, and loved it, and so did kitties. I loved the water window so I could be sure it was full. My pump gave out after a month of full time use. Sigh.
oh, interesting! good to know. did you return to amazon?
Floppycats not yet. I will post about how that goes.
@@christinecharbonneau4448 ok, thanks.
How are you able to return it if it’s over thirty days? I thought the Return window was that long. Following to see but will probably order.
I just ordered this fountain using your link. I bought a very expensive And larger all ceramic made to order fountain a while back but this seems so much easier to use. I also like that I can put this one near Slippers scratching post so she can just get up after a nap and take a drink without getting down or going to the kitchen. She now has beginning stages of renal disease, was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and is being checked in two weeks for IBD and/or lymphoma. Any extra water intake, the better for her right now.
I am so sorry to hear about Slippers - but yes, hopefully this will be inviting to help her drink. My mom and I change the water in the fountain daily. I don't know why people leave it in there for a week - gross. hope the IBD/Lymphoma is negative.
I hope she is ok too but I have to decide if I want to do an endoscopy to get her diagnosed. For an almost 19 year old cat, that procedure can be rough. It obviously also requires general anesthesia. I’m not sure what to do so I’m seeing a diagnostic specialist first. Both diseases require very different treatment protocols so I’m not sure how to proceed if I don’t get her the endoscopy. Luckily the hyperthyroidism can be treated with a daily pill.
@@212davisesq yes, they suspected lymphoma with my parents' murphy and we opted to just put him on the low dose chemo pills than put him through surgery - he's 16.
Thanks! Turns out it’s on lightning deal right now with a 40% coupon. So grabbed one for $11. Hope my cats like it.
thanks for the head's up - i will share with my followers - and glad you got a great deal! i hope your cat does too - plmk how it goes!
I will add this here too so everyone sees it. Hi. My cat and myself also had health issues and you may want to try this. Animals cannot process the minerals or toxins in tap water. Vets will tell you this is not true but they either don’t know or don’t want to know.
And most filters like water pitcher filters (besides Zero Water, it works), fridge dispenser filters, fountain filters and most others cannot filter properly. You may want to try fully purified drinking water (I get mine by the gallon at Walmart. It’s filtered by reverse osmosis and called Great Value Purified Drinking Water). NOT spring water, or bottled water. It must test less than 10ppm on a little TDS meter which you can get for less than $20 anywhere online.
This healed not only mine but both my cats health issues. There is quite an epidemic out there of human and animal health issues being caused by the tap or bottled water. I live in a good area and the tap water should be good.
Unfortunately, there is no place on Earth who’s tap water is good anymore. Marco, my cat had FIC back in the summer. When I asked the vet if the water in my home could cause it he said no. But when I got home I switched his water and he never had another episode. Stress supposedly causes it but he is no less stressed out now.
It’s worth it to try this for a few months to fully be sure that it’s not the water. Because the water will cause all kinds of other health issues in humans and all animals as well. Be sure to not let them drink out of the toilet either. Toilet water is very hard and is terrible for animals. This can be found online. I came across a bunch of information about cases of FIC being much higher in areas with hard water.
Going to give this a try. I had a fountain but it was plastic and a pain to clean (lots of small plastic parts) so I went back to the glass mixing bowls. This looks basic and easy to clean. I also like it without the flower parts... Hope my Sams does too.
Please let me know how it goes. I need to figure out how often to change the filter.
@@Floppycats just placed my order thru your link, hope I did it correctly so you get credit. Hope to have tomorrow. Will let you know for sure!

My cat doesn't have renal disease but i got a cat water fountain. She didn't care for it. Plus i cant see how much shes drinking.
I returned it and have gone qith a gravity waterer and feeder. She loves it.
glad you found something that works for you guys!
Thx!
I have a water fountain for my cat but I like the looks of this one better because of the stainless steel top..the one I have now is all plastic and the top is getting tougher to clean for me(I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands don't work as well as they used to) and maybe the stainless steel top would be easier for me to clean..I thought my cat would be hesitant about the fountain when I first got it but she started drinking from it as soon as I plugged it in..she loves it 😸
I hope it would be easier to clean, but i am not sure - but definitely would be better for kitties that have feline acne problems.
FYI I have this unit. I had the pump fail after about 40ish days. They replaced it free. That pump failed about 30 days later. I finally foudn the actual pump on amazon for 14 bucks. Great fountain if you didn't have to replace the pump so often. Filters were changed etc on a schedule .
how bizarre - my parents have had theirs since september and the pump has never failed.
I have one of these. My two love it, but they won't use the flower either.
Do you just remove it then?
How much water do you put in? The directions say to fill the bowl to a half in from the top and to not get the cord wet. If I fill the bottom bowl, then the cord and what it’s connected to go underwater. Is that right?
I think I filled it about half way.
Are those Himalayan cats? I lost my cat last Summer very suddenly and he was a rescue. I never knew exactly what he was but he looked a lot like your cats. Bigger than the average cat and super friendly and intelligent. There’s 3 breeds that look very similar. I just want to get the same breed as I miss him so much
sorry to hear about your Summer. No, these are Ragdoll cats. If you send me an email (see my channel's about section) - I can take a look at Summer's photo and make my best guess.
My cats love this - however, a red light is flashing... I cleaned it and replaced the filter and the red light is still flashing. Have experienced this?
No. I haven’t. Never seen a red light on it
What is the height of this one? My 10 yr old cat is not drinking much water for a while. So I found Wonder Creature's fountain, the square one, Looks same as this one and little reasonable for me. But not sure if the height will be appropriate for him.
I pulled this from the Amazon listing that I linked to in this video - 7.5'x7.5'x5.9'

My cat is enjoying this drinking fountain! I put it next to her other water bowl and she chooses the pet fountain.🙂Also she doesn’t use it when the flowers are on top, so I left those off. Happy I got this for my cat. Thanks to your video!
Kare B wonderful. Glad to hear it. Thanks for sharing!
I have an 18 year old cat who still drinks from the toilet and her vet said she has renal disease (kidney failure)😢. I’m shopping around for a fountain. I think the metal one would be great for her. My other cat doesn’t care where her water comes from. Lady Bugs is very picky though. She won’t eat the kidney wet food so I still feed her Fancy Feast to keep her happy. She eats the kidney dry food. Do you have any food suggestions?
sorry to hear about your kitty. has the veterinarian recommended giving her fluids? that's the biggest thing for a renal cat in my opinion. food suggestions - it comes down to what the cat will eat - this group on facebook has great recommendations - facebook.com/groups/felinecrf - dry food won't help her kidneys much though - she's already dehydrated, so if you can avoid dry food, all the better. all that is explained in the group. but really it comes down to the individual cat.
There is a complete stainless steel version....base and bowl.
Can you tell me after using it for a while how easy it is to clean and how often do you clean it?
I just cleaned it for the first time this weekend. However, we change out the water daily, which would change how often you clean it. There’s a lot of factors that would go into how often to clean it. But manufacturer says every two weeks. And then replace the filter. But literally took me maybe 5 minutes?
How did you get the blue light to turn off? I don’t see a flip switch or anything on mine to turn the blue light off.
Dont know. Didn’t do It intentionally
My dog won't go near it, I've tried putting snacks on the rim but he will just grab them off he's scared of it. What can I do to help him drink from the monster?
Maybe fill it up, but turn it off. So just let it be a water bowl. And once he’s used to that, turn it on to use? Also, try moving it to a different spot? Can you play with him near it? I’d need to see what he’s doing to think of what to try. But you might try all of those and it might still not work. So you might need to return eventually.
Have you tried

how old is your cat and what is his/her diet? dry food? wet food?
My Peanut is 15yrs old. He eats Wet food Now. I just ordered another fountain from Chewy. It's a Swan. I should get around this week.I also make sure he has his water too.
@@roxannesmaldone3465 honestly, I wouldn’t worry. The fact that he’s not thirsty is great! Especially at 15. Do you add water to his wet? Like a tablespoon or something?
The upper holes will get clogged with cat hair, then it will overflow all over the floor.
could if you don't watch it - but you should be watching it anyway....so that's a user issue, not a fountain issue.
Put ice cubes in their water so they will more. It does work.
