Today we take a quick look at how the previous gen versions compare to 'Uncaged Edition'
Turns out, they're two very different games!

yep, back in the day the new gen games where nothing like the prior console version. Today is just slightly less resolution, antialising, framerate, but the game is the sameone. Just check Spiderman webs of shadows ps2 vs ps3/360/pc, even the fucking Wii version is similar.
Weird that in the PS2 intro, all the soldiers he kills are robots. But in gameplay, all soldiers are human.
PS2 was rated T. Not sure why
@@shadowhalk225 They could've left the visuals the same, and change robots to humans. If they didn't want to show claws go through a human head, they can do that. If they didn't want to show Wolverine puncture a human through a pole at the end of the intro, they can do that. Just make the soldiers in the intro be human. Flesh and blood

The ps2 was rated T for just lets say "a reason" that to me is also confusing
It was rated T because at the moment they released this game ,ps2 was actually not bringing any new third parties games for the sake of bringing new tittles/attention for the new generation consoles at the time and by that means any game that was going to be released for the ps2 needed to be under the ratings of E-T by the ESRB to not stole the attention for the new gen consoles (more even this has something to do also with the manhunt 2 release by the time)

If the Uncaged Edition was made today for the PS5, they could have done some insane stuff for Wolverine, most of which being the most technologically impressive (and disturbing to boot) feat where if Wolverine was hit by an IED or bomb of some kind (during the time he didn’t have an adamantium skeleton), his limbs and body parts could have blown off, forcing the player to crawl on the ground or fight with one arm or leg less than usual, watching as it would slowly grow back all the way. Imagine if it was the same for part of his face 😳
Well, Insomniac making a new Wolverine game, so we will see

This was just a quick look at two versions of the game.
The older versions are very different, less blood, different combat, and significantly less content! (~40% shorter than 'Uncaged')
If you're on the fence, pick up the 'uncaged' version for a significantly better experience.

I was absolutely mindblown at Uncaged Edition as a kid.
i felt so ripped of as a kid when i bought the ps2 version of this. Same with Spiderman Web of Shadows

Honestly, I have to agree, and I say this as someone who actually enjoyed playing the PS2 version.

Well, tbf, I didn't even realized it myself till years later after buying the game. Of course, I'd argue that those 2 particular scenes weren't TOO graphic.

Wow. The Uncaged Edition is like a straight up Remake/Remaster of sorts. That's pretty cool.
Some of the shouts, grunts, and growls from Wolverine in the Uncaged Version sound better than the standard. I have the PS2 version, but still, the game itself is still good.
The PS3 version looks so bloomy. Definitely a product of its time.

The ps2 version was one of the first "Original" Ps2 games I had as a child, and one of the last I got. Never knew what happened to it, neither I remember if I completed the game or nor, but I still rememver the day mom gave it to me very clearly.
It’s amazing how they basically made two completely different games.
Just To let anyone Know, the “standard” addition was not released for Xbox or game cube,Only for Wii And PS2. There was also Another Different version release for PSP and Another different version That’s the same on both DS and mobile Java :-)
I remember buying the ps2 before I got the next gen version and thinking they were the same as I was watching the intro. Boy did I learn when the gameplay started💀😂
Compared to some other ports from PS3 to PS2 (Web of Shadows…) this one still looks quite good in both gameplay and graphics (for PS2 obviously)
Some PS2 versions of games are better than PS3. For example, Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

I got the PS2 version first and was happy with it but never understood why it didn't look like the trailers. When I got my PS3 my mom accidentally bought me the same game again, or so I thought. And wow. Let me just say my mind was blown

I really liked the ps3 graphics back then, the glows and colors. Killzone 2 is still one of the most beautiful games i've played

I like the fact that the version for PlayStation 2, Wii and PSP is a different game. It allows fans to finish it twice and get a different experience.
I played the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version many years ago, but I think I will fire up the PlayStation 2 version for a run through the game since I have not played that since I got it a couple of years ago. 😀
Tbf, it's only a different game because the Wii version was the main port, and the Wii couldn't do PS3/360 quality, and they wanted motion controls. And then also removed most of the blood and gore since it's Nintendo. Then THAT got ported to PS2 since apparently it was fairly easy and straight forward to port Wii games to PS2. And PSP, well, PSP it's own thing because PSP.
This is the best Woleverine game I've ever seen
One thing i liked about the PS2 version was the battle with Creed. It was much more dificult than the Uncaged Edition and extense. I think they make the battle much more interesting in PS2 version.

I was in high school when this game released. I only got to play a demo of this at the time, so currently I am playing it for the first time. Until Insomniac releases their Wolverine game, this game right here remains the definitive Wolverine game.

I've still got the game and I haven't played Wolverine since Feb 2011 according to my trophy list on my PS3. I do remember getting that birthday cake early on near the beginning of the game.

Damn i didn't know that ps2 was more of a PG film as opposed to an rated R film. Im so lucky then that i played it first on the PS3. Not only that, but this was my first game ever on PS3 upon purchasing it from Target. Fun memories.

I remember playing the PS2 version. It's basically the movie with new areas/enemies. I've played the PC version, but I didn't go far. I just remember a level that has a dam and absolutely hated it, but don't know which version has it.

The ps3 version reminds me of god of war
I recall playing this on the psp for the first time and the cutscenes amazed me and had me wonder how good this game would be until I found out there's a next gen version back then I got it on pc and started playing. I had this on NIntendo ds and psp then got a pc version later, but the pc does have some downsides like the fight with sabretooth never happens idk if its on the wii/ps2 version but it was a really awesome fight as well as the final deadpool boss as well. however the pc version's final chapter was disappointing. gambit was cool in the ps3/pc/xbox360 version tho. still a good and underrated game.

I just brought the uncaged edition on ebay for ps3 for 50 bucks this game is going up on price cuz of the new wolverine game that is coming out in 2/3 years from now also it becoming harder to find a ps3 version uncaged edition for anything under 50 bucks

I kinda like how the ps2 version has men begging for their lives. I don't mean that in psychopath way but it shows the brutality of what Logan is doing to his enemies and to have them react is pretty cool. But hearing it for 100th time in tbe same level is also annoying.
one thing with this game on PS2 the devs could have done the same intro level but they made it exclusive to the PC Xbox 360 and ps3 to make the game stand out as the more intensive version plus they had to make the next-gen at the time different to make it stand out plus the ps 2 could have handled the same with all the blood and body parts tearing apart on the ps2 for example if u play terminator redemption on the ps2 the skin and blood start to pull of the body showing the t800 true form so they could have done it for the ps2 but with lower graphics of cores but they didn't cus really it was 2008/9 and the ps2 was on its way out
