For people who don’t know this game was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge deal back in the day! It’s not enough u’s I can write to explain it. The double screen version with six characters simultaneous…….the single screen version too. It’s like you had to have been there. In the arcades…….early 90s…….during the height of the street fighter craze…….plus turtles, plus final fight……plus Mortal Kombat just entering the arena…..SNES………Sega Genesis………Neo Geo arcade cabinets……with multiple games…..Jordan going for his first three peat…….Dre and Snoop…….Deep Cover……….The Chronic…………..what a time to be a live!

you're not lying about that! any X-Men game was big deal too especially with the success of the animated cartoon at that time. Nintendo Switch needs to bring this beat'em up game back. I use to show up to the arcades with a ziplock bag of quarters lol. the early 90s as a kid was something special and I'm glad I was there.

I remember it must've been about 91 I would've been 7 years old. I was in florida (i'm from the uk) playing TMNT and a girl joined me, we had a really good run then I ran out of quarters and she gave me some so we could continue. Mad that I still remember that. I hope she had a fantastic life.
Back when entering the movie theater or arcade hit you with raw sfx punches explosions machine guns racing tires squealing 16 and 32 bit voice overs digital soundtracks blasting from all directions at once! The smell of popcorn and junk food! Such nostalgia everyone who was born after this era of entertained truly missed out and words can't explain.
I tell that to my kids all the time. Getting dropped off at the mall in the mid ‘80’s and then driving to the mall in the early ‘90’s was the best thing ever. You could spend three hours in the mall and have the best Friday or Saturday night ever. Man I miss the old days. My brother and I spent many quarters in Aladdin’s Castle playing this and numerous other games. By the way, Colossus was my favorite X-Man. My late brother loved Wolverine.
@@49erfan160880 Aladdin's Castle!! Now that brings me back. My family had this giant AC branded cup from there when we visited somewhere fancy I forget where. I would always play the expensive games so I would burn through my quarters too quickly haha. The Lost World Jurassic Parkt and the Star Wars OT arcades. Never ever beat either one but the graphics and the atmosphere blew my mind so I kept playing them anyway. Haha.

I remember this being the biggest arcade game to exist before Tekken and Marvel v Capcom. It was also unique because the arcade unit was MASSIVE with two screens, which was never seen before.

This was a staple at almost every arcade or restaurant that had arcade games. It was so much fun playing this with friends or strangers at the arcade.
I grew up in the arcade era and this is exactly how I run all my retro games too. HD Graphics, no scan lines, just to see them in their best graphical glory. One of my set ups is thru a projector and it’s a blast playing any game on there. Awesome channel!!!

I only played this game once in the arcade, and never again. Not because I didn't like it, but because I didn't get to enjoy it in the manner I wanted to. My parents only gave me four quarters. But after finally getting my chance to play this game for the first time in over 30 years, I was able to enjoy it in its entirety. And its just SO satisfying to plow through the enemies, defeat the bosses, and beat Magneto at the end. This is such a satisfying game.

nah..it was really easy.
i could beat it with 2 or 3 quarters.
I was/am able to play the first level without getting hit and the second level without dying. But after that,... yeah, it definitely got harder.

I was in a local Boys Club in the 90s when I was a kid. They had this arcade for years. I practically played on a daily basis from ‘92 to ‘97.

Gonna be wishing for awhile. Konami in 30 somethin years has only ever released it for consoles for maybe a 2 year span and on the arcade 1up machines recently. Could only download it illegally before. Still have it on my PS3 every now and then along with Simpsons, which actually did release for PC back in the day.

Indeed. Have to sell drinks to appeal to the 30-40 year olds to come play them now. Arcades will remain dead with online multiplayer alive and well. No need for them anymore, sadly. I remember going to play killer instinct and X-Men vs sf against actual people....ahh....so good.

Should have. Marvel wasn't doing shit else during this time. That was their problem, couldnt figure out how to stay relevant on their own so they licensed all their franchises out and let them do the dirty work. Came back and bit them in the ass years later.

For those of you that don't know this was the game that was based off the original pilot that eventually led to X-Men the animated series which is now X-Men 97. That is why it has the exact same characters as the original pilot
We need remakes of these on new consoles. I miss games like these. Not all games need to be a huge open world

When I came back, I had to explain to my mom how I came back broke with no tickets from playing games or anything….but I participated in beating an epic arcade game ahaha

Nostalgic!!! I remember this game when I'm about 8 to 9 years old, some of the older player cowers to the corners to avoid being attack by in coming battalion of enemies ( in arcade it can be played up to 4 players), what a coward, let the kids in the line of fire to die. Instead of a team works, it was selfishly avoiding the enemies..
Notes: back then it cost P3 per token in order to be able to play the arcade game..

First three levels are a masterclass of stage design married with great music.

WELCOME TO DIE! Always wondered how Magneto took over the fleet of sentinels, but still a blast to play.
This game should be available on the ps5, series x, and switch. Another note is the ending of this game implied a sequel game and it’s a shame a sequel was never made. The sequel could’ve been instead of being based on the x men pilot episode, being based on the 92 animated series and their character lineup with Apocalypse being the main antagonist this time. Then have Magneto and Spider-Man as secret playable characters, well just some imagination.
This was one of my favorite arcade games next to the TMNT four player. I had it on Playstation when it was released on the Store. Fun game. One feature that I whole-heartedly enjoyed was being able to attack an enemy while they were down. I wish more multiplayer games had that. Edit: one other thing I will add. This is clearly the Japanese version of the game. The U.S. version did not drop energy pills.
Nightcrawler jumping on the enemies stomachs always had me laughing. Cyclops and dazzler I think were the only ones that had the same animation of kicking them. Proof cyclops has always been a loser 😂

This game is due for an official remaster and re-release. Yes, I know it was released on Xbox Arcade back on the 360, but that was like a decade ago...
It's also no longer available, so the only way to get it is the arcade 1up cabinet
