I used to work on a cruiseship for 4 years. I will never forget when we needed to go away from the port in Gibraltar, a storm and high waves were announced and alerted. That where the biggest waves I have experienced. I love the water, the sea and waves but at that time I was scared to death, we had such big waves that the ship was literally dancing up and down with the huge waves, the restaurants, bars, shops needed to stay closed , just one buffet restaurant was working but no one came, not even the guest because everyone felt sea sick and you couldn`t even normaly walk. You couldn`t even go to sleep properly because you would swing in your bed, plus they alerted our crew that we need to be ready in case of any emergency embarking. It was an amazing experience. Thank God nothing bad happened.

You can't underestimate such ruthless power. The ocean is not something anyone should ever test because it has no remorse or sorrow when it claims our loved ones, rips all we have away and changes a once familiar landscape into something you can't recognize for decades after in mere seconds. We have to realize just how little control we have over such a force and respect it. When we continue to challenge it you will only be reminded of it's strength and ability to destroy everything and leave no evidence we ever existed on this planet.
Truly amazing video, you were able to catch the raw beauty and the relentless power our oceans possess. We have been so lucky to be able to live in a place that can leave you breathless with all its beauty, but never underestimate how much power it has over our lives. Respect this fierce place. Please make more vids like this it was by far much better than the same clips that don't do justice to the raw power and unspeakable beauty of this planet but you have some incredible breathtaking clips you don't see often if at all. Thank you.

@@wiesiawojtkowska Natural disasters are Nature's reactions to physical stresses --- and in our recent history include stresses imposed on Nature by human activity, human greed, human unwillingness to think of the consequences of their actions ( a prime example: PLASTICS --- we invent a substance that will take millions of years to degrade and then we proceed to fill the world with it! ....Why didn't we draw the logical conclusions about the impact on Nature of using plastic? ). Humans have concertinaed such a magnitude of stresses on the Natural Order that we have, winthin barely a century and a half, affected the meteorology of this planet that would normally take tens of thousands of years to occur! So, in answer to your question, unfortunately for us and the entire animal populations, NO, disasters will never end.....And there are those of us who actually plan to "conquer" other planets for us to destroy........!

Growing up, I heard my father say, repeatedly, what a terrible idea it is to build a home too close to the ocean (within 8 kilometers, or 5 miles). A freak wave, a flood, and you're somewhere out to sea, potentially. It has happened on my island, happened in many, many places all over the world. It's a matter of common sense, really. Yet many people prefer to remain purposefully, blissfully, ignorant of the inherent risks.

Though there is a video on it, I'll save you time or help peak interest. One of the walls tested is shaped like a C which redirects a wave straight back into itself. Wall design itself ain't the only thing engineers do, they also have to plan the building of sea walls under a tight budget.

I spent a winter living about 30’ off Long Island Sound. The back of the house faced the water, and I parked in front of the house. We had one bad storm in February and the entire sea wall and railings were coated in thick ice and icicles. And the water blew right over the house and coated my car, too! It was beautiful 😊

I consider myself beyond lucky to live in a place that experiences very few weather events. Im tucked in right down at the bottom of the world, where its bays and inlets, yet i can still travel less than 100km and be at the coast. Buckleys chance of a large tsunami down here.
