Cheers for all the nice comments & to settle the debate I was ripping off a version of My Sacrifice by Creed - no idea why!! I think I just like that B to the A chord! Cheers!
CaptAnderton Hi Lee, is it me or is Rory not doing his job properly? 0.o ... I see no other colour options :(
Yeah - he missed that! The Studio is available in Red, Black & Black Cherry Burst - go to our web site to see it, Cheers, Lee
CaptAnderton what scale did u use in that intro jam, sorry I'm kind of a beginner
hey Lee, loved you in the Brittas Empire.
CaptAnderton I knew it! cheesy song, but cool riff...I know that makes little sense.
Lee played really well today
I generally find I prefer Lee's playing. Lee's always nicely in the pocket. Chappers... not so much
Lee's lead over Rob's rhythm fit much better than Rob's lead over Lee's rhythm... on the intro anyway.
Gareth O'Brien while I do agree I think it's that lees blues style lends itself to jamming more than robs metal style. Just my 2 cents take care
As a metal player I agree.
Lee feels the music more and Chappers is always trying too hard imo...
Got to say that I am realatively new to youtube , a couple of months now but after watching lots of the different guitar related channels Chappers and the Capitan are two of my favourite people. I dont care that they are in it to sell stuff , every one got to eat. They are very entettaining and genuinely are great players and possitive and enthusiastic. Congratulations Chappers on your impending Dadness.
can we just appreciate how far the captain's playing has come since they started these videos. I've now come to appreciate his playing as much as, if not more, than Rob's. great to see!
Holy shit Lee, you played great in this episode
Lee has never played better than that solo in the intro. Damn fine playing.
How can anyone give you guys a thumbs down???? Your videos are great!!! Informative, entertaining, etc. Keep up the good work and thank you.
0:20 only time I have seen Lee play 3 notes on a string.
Vishal Sheth he plays lead a lot you must not have seen a lot of their videos
That green one can only be bought by Argonians.
hank is love. hank is life.
I am so early, I see your comment has no likes.
thru a BLACK MARSHall amp.
ill see myself out..
m'aiq the liar can also buy gibson
Keep your riffs to yourself, sneak thief.
got a chance to play the classic in green, felt so damn nice. so easy to play
Necronomicon !! \m/
Ray Torvalds Lovecraft?
yeah
OMG that Green LP looks stunning!
Lee is starting to feel the rock
Love this review! These days when it's fashionable to dump on Gibson, these guys spend a half hour playing and talking positively about these beautiful guitars. And by the way, they know what they're talking about. Bravo!
I actually bought a brand new Studio BECAUSE everyone was dumping on them. I love it. It plays great and everything on it works perfectly. Sometimes being a contrarian works out.
Both of you have gotten far better at playing this year. I know Rob has never struggled with technique but his timing is so good lately, the intro jams are killing it.
For those who don't know, the auto tuners on the pro versions are very nice to have, BUT they wear down on the nut quite a bit over a short period of time. I had a Studio Pro which I only had for a little over a week, and the "A" string started buzzing because it was eating down into the nut. I took it back and got the regular Studio, and so far it has been fabulous, no complaints from me about it at all.
That’s good to know.
I never needed that in the first place. I figured they wouldn’t work right.
Thanks for that…
Faubus
Really loved the first 1.5 minutes of heavenly jamming on those awesome Les Pauls!
I like green guitars. Pretty hard to find though. Been looking for a strat deluxe in candy apple green forever.
Lee's lead in that opening jam was SO good!
I love when The Captain plays a guitar he's obviously really comfortable with, it always makes for much better jamming
Think Rory must have been taking a piss when Lee said he would flash the colours across the screen.
He asked him twice to put up the colours Rory, Lee is the boss when Lee says jump you say how high :-)
Doug J Just victims of the music store drive by...
I'm actually hating those chrome pickup ring!
Mr Muck and the metal knobs, wtf are they doing its putting me off the otherwise perfecr high performance
Dhruv Kotecha the metal knobs and pickup rings look hideous, but the selector switch looks ok with out the ring on the more modern colors, and awful on the traditional colors.
Mr Muck They are awful
You know if there's a way to replace them to the traditional looking ones?
You can change them if they do not please you.
I just got the '17 Classic T in Seafoam Green (GC Exclusive color). I also noticed the thing is way brighter than expected. For one, '57 Classics and then I opened the control cavity and WOW! HANDWIRED W/ ORANGE DROPS!! This is MY Les Paul :)
My dear Captain!
Your playing in this episode is smooth as f.... You are getting better and better!
I wonder what Captain charges to fiddle with your knobs?;-)
hey im a big fan man. I watch your videos all the time here at the pyramids
SWEET:-)
Captain back at it again with the awesome solos
Rory showed none of the other color options :(
The pinch harmonic is to the 2000s what tapping was to the 9O s
wade wilson So, you're saying they're both badass and timeless?
Dude...
DamageIncM that's his point
It''s the 2010's not the 2000's...
The thing about the 2017 les Pauls, is that the chrome stuff looks good on the new experimental colors, especially blue, but on the gold top and honey burst it looks awful.
THE KNIGHTS WHO SAY NI! Gibson are so hard up for new ideas they resorted to chrome on the rims. Just give us what we want lol
wade wilson I don't mid it on the burst as much but gold top looks terrible
Rob, calm down yo shred
omfg did the capt learn some new shit?! that intro was fucking great! you know when a lick is good when you just cant stop smiling listening to it
I like the poker chip under the pickup selector - they look naked without it.
wayfaerer320 if you buy a 2017-2018 Gibson without the poker chip, they come with it as an option to put it on. I HATED the no poker chip and then I found out they threw one into the case after purchase!
The Green kick ass !
I love Lee's playing and phrasing.
"None of the electronics do anything at all..." =D
I like that green LP together with zebra pickups. Looks killer!
I'm not a very big fan of Les Pauls, nor do I like green guitars....but that one in Capt's hands is 😍😍😍
The Gibson classic 57's are my favorite PU combo in a LP. I've got another one with a SD Pearly Gates/ 59 combo in it and while it's a great combo 8 times out of 10 when I want a LP I reach for my one with the 57's.
The PG/59's blew the 490's they replaced out of the water though. I know many people love them but they just aren't my cup of tea at all.
I actually don't mind the chrome pickup rings! But I don't get the removal of the poker chip, which will absolutely be back next year.
don't think I've ever seen you two have a better jam than at the start of this
Lee's tone was so great this video!
Easily my favourite jam from The Capitan in the intro. Great Job with those licks Cap'!
Lee stole the show with his playing and that beautiful green color.
Captain Lee was killing it
Still cannot get over how good your jam sessions are! Great review (as always) y'all!
What I believe is the cause of the wah sound, is because when it's out-of-phase, the sound from the neck pickup is going to be processed a split second after the bridge pickup. Because the neck is more responsive to bass and the bridge more responsive to treble, it gives it that sort of wah sound. And, this effect is MUCH more noticeable with Alnico pickups, too.
Do another of the challenge videos!
I need to stop watching these. Every time I watch one I'm sat here justifying how I could afford a Les Paul, they give me the special feelings. Can't afford new trainers but I'm trying to figure out where I can get £2,000 from. Good work guys!!
Somebody fire that dude who suggested to take the magical poker chip behind the switch.
Fucking why. Buy one for $2 and add it on your self. If you want an old Les Paul, go buy an old Les Paul. I swear you traditionalist freaks would rather have Gibson not even exist as a company anymore if all they're making are copies of a guitar made nearly 50 years ago.
RoLLo we're allowed opinions. It doesn't look as good and we are allowed to say it. Don't be so entitled to think we can't say what we think or want
some people need instructions (poker chip) others are actually players (chip drop)
bob bob just won The Comments. Thanks for playing, everyone!
bob bob it's more of aesthetic thing for me the chip just looks better. Maybe it's just because I'm used to it idk
Holy smokes, Lee. You slayed it in that first jam. Nicely done.
What amazing guitar players:)
Best. Intro. Jam. Ever!
the tone in the intro was sooooo wonderful :)) Really great playing, Rob and Lee.
It's time to upload Fender Pro Tele's and Jazzie's!
Cosy 'ou yes please!
I could listen to that end jam all day!
Wow! What an amazing sound this Gibsons have!
Holy shit! That green Les Paul may be the most beutiful guitar I’ve ever seen!
Yes it is as I own her 😁. Everybody really like as well as myself. Cheers
Locking tuners should become standard on every new guitar that ever gets made from now on. They're bloody amazing. I want to upgrade all the tuners on my guitars when I can afford it.
Never been a big fan of the gold top LP, but that gold.... the new gold Chappers is holding.... that just loox different and majestic!
I believe the reason out of phase sounds a bit like a wah wah is because the wah basically reduces bass and increases treble as you push it down
(or at least we perceive it this way, I think it just moves the peak frequency higher basically moving everything towards higher frequencies).
The out of phase pickups cancel certain frequencies, particularly the bass frequencies get cancelled out more as the volumes are closer together
so it's a similar effect to a wah. I think if you roll one of the pickup volumes down to bring them closer to being in phase and
do volume swells up to out of phase it should give a similar effect to a wah.
One thing I don't like about these vids is that, everything is good and nothing has any imperfections.
I'm not saying I don't like his positivity I'm just saying that I feel they could be a bit more objective.
Spooks Man Plays Agree
These aren't even the best models...by far.
Both of u guys were killing it on this video. Nice demo
I was waiting for this video since forever!!! The Classic is my model of interest and I ended up ordering it... taking a while to be shipped due to CITES regulations and so on, but at least this video will give me a bit more to look forward to.
I'd kill for the green one so much
The wizard hat editing in this video makes it a little silly - in a very good way. Always love the Captain and Chappers videos!
I'm in the US and really like your videos. I've been playing for 40 years and have enjoyed Gibson and Fender guitars (my pref) and have an idea for a show I know I would appreciate. You guys go through wonderful guitars and since I'm in the market for a Les Paul, I would like you guys to identify and demo THE PICKUPS for each of the models. So many combinations of woods, materials and pickups, I'd like to have a better understanding of how they're impacted by wood and material not to mention the different styles each pickups represent! :) What are the "hotter" LP's vs Traditional tones and etc. I'm curious of the 496T and 500T pickups and how they measure to the other pickups. Thanks for all of the videos ... still learning even at mid 50's!!! So cool.
This was my first Andertons video after buying the Wine Red Studio in 2017. I’ve been a fan ever since. Thanks guys!
I'm an American that has watched a lot of BBC comedies and I knew pram and could not recall stroller until he said it. I was thinking baby buggy, but that is more a bed on wheels, while a stroller is a chair on wheels.
Golden top looks fantastic, as always.
That green one is gnarly
I'm not sure why, but that green LP the Captain played so lovely on in the intro defies my "law" of not liking the appearance of green guitars. It looks bad ass.
Stunning jam here lads, lovely and melancholic
Never seen a green les paul before, it looks great.
I still like the blueberry finish the best. That was absolutely gorgeous
Congratulations to you and your wife Rob...
Lee's playing is on point in the intro. Nice.
Another great video guys. I own the 2017 traditional in ocean green burst. So glad I took the plunge and bought something different. I absolutely love the guitar, the build quality this year is superb.
chappers look so much sharper with the clean look!
That black Les Paul Studio looks great.
Felix Tatmana I just bought that exact guitar. Looks even better in person. Kinda reminds me of a '57 Belair Hot Rod all chromed out.
finally you guys did this video.... I have been asking for this one... thanks..... definitely getting the classic, best bang for your buck......you forgot to say the classic traditional has locking tuners....cheers
The green one: its like a Les Paul should sound! Great tone!
Love the begining playing, you guys have got soul.
Love the GREEN Gibson Les Paul-absolutely SICK!🎸
LOL "They call it a Stroller" , now that is hilarious lol. Congrats Rob on the incoming little one!
Refreshing to see people actually playing the major third
That green one i swear I'm in love!
I've had three studios and just bought a classic. My first studio was a traditional with BB pro pickups and traditional kluson tuners in satin finish. It was terrible... never stayed in tune and didn't sound great. My others were from the modern collection and were very well made and sounded great. In looking at both my last studio next to my classic I don't think one is better constructed than the other...both perfect... actually Les fret buzzing on my studio. The pickups on my last studio were 490's which are very warm. They use these same pickups on several custom shop models and they are very good... especially if you have an amp like a Marshall that doesn't have a lot of bass or warmth when playing clean. For bassier amp like a fender blues deluxe or Peavy classic 50 you have to turn the treble and mids way up. The classic 61 pickups are significantly brighter and have more clarity and attack. It just comes down to preference and the amp you are using. I think I actually prefer the 61's for my playing style... but neither better than the other both great. The push pull on both sound identical... but you get phase switching on the classic... which most people will rarely use. The coil tapping on both guitars sucks next to what you get on a PRS guitar but may still be useful on occasion compared to not having it at all. The only other noticeable difference is no binding on the studio and no hard case. So bottom line...is the classic worth $800 more? I say no. I bought mine used for only $280 more than I sold my studio for... so that was worth it for me... and for the color I preferred more. But I wouldn't have paid $800 more for pretty much the same guitar without binding and hard case... unless you really love the sound of the pickups on the classic more. The studio is a real bargain next to the others... it's just a mental thing that we want what the rock stars have when it really doesn't get any better than the studio other than bling.
How would you contrast the Studio and Classic necks?
@@ldlegrandjr883 hmmm... I haven't noticed the difference... feel about the same to me...both about the right thickness... very comfortable. But I'm not picky about the neck... though I prefer slimmer. I have another PRS single cut that has a really wide neck and I wish it was slimmer... feels like playing a classical guitar almost because of thickness...
These two make a living playing on gibson les pauls all the time in addition to other cool instruments....yea they have this "life" thing figured out pretty damn well....
Rob and The Captain....The best videos on planet earth !!!! Thank you ;-)
Rob! Ooooh Silver Cross. You'll regret that. Look amazing, last for ages... weigh the same as a small family car. After 6 months of hauling that on and off curbs and public transport, you'll trade in for something with big arsed tyres and a carbon space frame that folds into a small square or one of those Maclaren buggies that look like a toy.
Good luck with the nipper mate. It's a crazy crazy ride that'll break you mind and heart to varying degrees but absolutely worth every sleepless minute.
that gold LP without the pick guard looks freaking amazing 0_o sound lovely too
Rory didn't flash any guitars up on the screen, despite Mr. Anderton's indication otherwise! :o)
I love the look of the 2017 range personally. I think they look great without the poker chip & with the chrome pots / pickup rings. The gold tops are my favourite, beautiful guitars!
That green is freaking beautiful.
Looking forward to the Silvercross v McLaren review guys. This ole rock'n'roll gig isn't gonna last for ever. Gotta widen your viewership. QVC here you come!
they sound amazing together.
That green is awesome. I dont really care much dor les pauls but i love that colour. I want a tele that colour
i love the differences they get just by adding less and more mid and bass
Love the ZZ Top riff to end it. Such a classic Les Paul sound.
Lee shredded that gold top
That one bad note that Chappers played and quickly slid from... Gives me hope as I struggle lol. Gosh that Green lp though.... Must have
Man, green guitars tho 👌
