- Philosopher of Religion and Co-founder of Sapience Institute Mohammed Hijab has clashed with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan over the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Mr Hijab questioned Mr Morgan if he would condemn the actions of the Israeli Defense Force following the deaths of civilians in Gaza.
“I want you to condemn the fact that the IDF knows that it's more probable than not pressing buttons from the sky killing innocent civilians - one thousand of them children - that is a war crime, and that is not acceptable morally,” he said.
“Even if we assume that the killing of combatants in most definitions of terrorism is something which brings someone to be a terrorist, I would say that if that is the case, then the state of Israel breaks that threshold.
“What differentiates an Israeli in the sky pressing a button and killing the civilians from somebody in any terrorist organisation shooting the people.
“Is the only way to defend itself against Hamas by dropping bombs in … one of the most densely populated areas in the world.”

Commercial breaks have to happen every so many minutes to average a certain amount of ads within a period since advertisers paid for the ad spots. They can't just not run an ad because an interview is in progress.

Couldn't agree more. All of the interviews with the Muslim people since this happened has been the same. It is clear where they stand. They are not compatible with western society. They just aren't. He only said he does not “like” civilians being killed and Isreal has a right to defend itself. Which brings us to the question of what was Israel defending itself at that time since the oct 7 threat has passed. What he's arguing is that even that attack doesn't justify the indiscriminate bombing of a civilian population. And he's right. Israel is the occupying power. They created this mess, the onus is on them to resolve it without slaughter of innocents, even if it's difficult to do.
