I usually do not comment on your videos, but love watching. When you went to the mall, and I saw LUSH cosmetics behind you, I knew that you were right about the wealth in that state. You see, LUSH is like wholefoods, You will NEVER find a Whole Foods in a poor area ANY where in the US. I live for LUSH products, and having them in a mall near were you live is certaintly a sign of comfort, and prestige. Great job on choosing that state, I am a luxury traveler when I travel, being able to get high quality skin care goods in that location says A LOT about the location. It's a good place, secure, fresh, pretty, has a lot of culture, clean air, sense of community and is half hour between Queretaro City and 2 and a half hour or 3 hours between Mexico City. The first problem is that most of the people doesn't speak English but I see that you speak very good Spanish so I think you wouldn't have to deal with that. @@rebeccar4312 Hello there. We're at the airport in Queretaro leaving for a couple of days in Cancun prior to a direct flight home. We loved Queretaro though a lot of our time was spent at a dentist's office (fully English speaking) as we had planned to have our dental work done in Mexico. Anyway, while many people don't speak English, we found certainly quite a few that did, particularly in the tourist area of the Centro Historico where we stayed. In other cases we just used Google Translate and gave people our question to read and had them type in their answer. Also, we're members of Queretaro Expats on Facebook, so went for questions there when necessary. It's a very helpful and friendly group, we found. Finally, when we were stumped (like in an Oxxo to get more phone and data time on our Mexican SIM card, often some Mexican that happened to be around offered to help. I find them extremely nice and open. I would urge you to go and just be ready for having to push your comfort zone a little bit. It certainly did not freak us out at all. It's a wonderful place! The weather really is great. I have lived close by in San Miguel de Allende for 12 years now and the weather is virtually identical to Queretaro. When sunny or in the summer months it is glorious and pleasant. One of the reasons we moved here, but starting around November to February you will certainly require some heating device(s) in your home. We have 3 gas fireplaces that cannot heat our home and also have in-floor radiant heat for the coldest periods. Quite expensive in gas, which is not cheap at all. The temperature drops at night and if it is a rainy or cloudy day you will be cold. Fortunately we get around 320 sunny days a year! The housing here is made of brick, cement and rebar with no insulation. Spent 40 years in Quebec, Canada so I am familiar with cold weather but at least the houses up there have central heat and insulation. Do enjoy the lovely summer weather, but be prepared for the cold times.

As long as you live in a mid to big size city in Mexico the cost of living is decent, getting any type of pre-owned or CPO will be cheap since there are A LOT of cars.
Mostly full size to compact SUVs.
For comparison getting a 2010 suburban will cost you around 4-7k USD .
Clean, mint, and they are super common.
Getting a 2015+ premium car costs around 10-20k.
Brand new cars are around the same 10-40k.
      Premium cars are around 30-80k.
Exotic cars are common in big cities .
Those cities also have exotic or supercar dealerships.
Most cities have s vibrant nightlife.
All sorts of entertainment cutting edge and traditional can be found in mid to big size cities.
Also México is part of the North American region, so we share a lot of aspects when it comes to the. market.
Full size vehicles are not uncommon.
Expect every major US store and even small stores.
      Home Depot,Walmart,HEB, Carl's Jrs,Ace,Costco,etc.
      Expect every us brand.
And to all of that add Mexican corporate brands which as of now dominate the Market, premium supermarkets, middle class Supermarkets, working class Supermarkets, cutting edge top of the trim Mexican designed and owned stores.
Big Mexican retailers and Mexican restaurants.
Overall if you lived in a US suburb you basically lived in a Mexican suburb.
Even the architecture is about the same on middle to upper middle class suburbs.

Queretaro state is definitely on my list as one of my possible destinations for my future home in Mexico. The city there looks beautiful and seems like a very nice place to call home. But me being more of a "country living" guy, I prefer a more rural location. I really like Bernal (with its very own "Devil's Tower"!😎) Or out in (or near) one of Queretaro's rural vineyard lands, which looks beautiful and pretty tranquil. The state has various possibilities for me (along with other Mexican locations I am thinking about). One thing that is for sure is I am really looking forward to begin my new life in Mexico very soon.

I have recently requested the permanent resident visa from the Mexican consulate, Portland, Oregon. The initial process is now on-line. The request is emailed, with a short description of the reason for the request. An official replies with a PDF file. The PDF is completed and returned via email. After 10 days, an in-person appointment date is sent by email. Even though I requested a permanent visa request form, I only received a temporary request form. Communication with the consulate is quite terse.

Guanajuato is so lovely, but it is a small town. We were planning to move there thinking we would be moving on in six months to a year (perfect). We stopped here for five days on our way....and stayed. Prior to Covid we loved all of the activities on weekends. While we cant wait for all the music to come back- we still appreciate how much there is to do here. Not bored yet. I also love that it is so easily walkable.
