  • It can be difficult to make a choice when you're looking for an at home IPL (laser) device. There's many out there on the market and most of them are quite expensive.
    I've gone with the Philips Lumea Prestige 9000 Series years ago, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. There are pros and cons, but overall, I'd say I'm happy with how this device has changed my body hair.
    Let me know if you have any questions!

    Honestly this thing did wonders on my skin. I used it for about 8 months (first every two weeks and then once a month) and then I was practically hairless for about two years. I would shave my body once a month.
    I'm using it again because I see that my body hair now grows faster than it did before but honestly, this changed my life for the better.
    Excellent review, I recommend it too 💯

      Hey 👋🏻 I started using the IPL once a week for about a month, then twice a month, and now I only do it every 1-2 months because almost all the hair around my top lip is gone.
      These devices are definitely worth it! They all use more or less the same technology so depending on your budget, you can go with any device that has good reviews, no necessarily the Philips one. I'm of course partial to it, but I've seen reviews for other brands that were just as effective, so definitely look around before you make your purchase. I hope you get the results you're looking for 🌸

    Hey,
    I have BRI956 (looks the same) since 2019 but I used it for about 10 months and quit because I just didn't find time for my procedures, also had very good results. I still have some spots with no hair and the best thing for me is that there is so much less pain when I went back to waxing after I zapped my hairs (shaved troughout the treatment period). My hairs (medium brown) have very deep roots and i guess the Lumea did have effect on them. Found your video while searching advice for restarting treatment. Also considering a laser treatment, because IPL does take a lot of time.

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Thanks for sharing your experience, sounds like it has helped your maintenance as well. I agree that it takes a long time. It would take around 10-15 min per leg for me, but mentally that felt like much longer 👀

    • @ThePukanka
      @ThePukanka Před 3 měsíci

      @@rucola.dragonIt was at leat 30 mins per leg for me (sadly, I am very, very hairy), also had to do my legs in 2 parts, because the zap got too hot when I was done with 1. But yes, after the Lumea procedures waxing was just unnecessary for a long time, it also became painless and had effect for much longer periods, I also loved the moment a few days after each proceure when hairs just fell off on their own and some of them never grew back, I'd say more than 30% are still missing 3 years after I stopped using it (50+ for armpits).
      Your review is great. Good luck with the channel. 🍀

      @rucola.dragon  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Hey! Yes, my armpit area did get lighter, that was such an amazing benefit! As for smells, I didn't notice anything weird going on. Just make sure you shave really well beforehand. If the hairs are just a bit too long then they will burn above the surface of the skin and you'll smell burnt hair in the air, but that goes away, it doesn't stick to you or anything 😊

    8:50 I had the same problem. I even taught that my entry product don’t work, but when I changed the attachment with my second, it start working again. I even try to return my product or pay for the repair, but they told me that they don’t have parts for replacement and I have to buy new product or try to find new attachment somehow…. Philips should fix this.

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 2 měsíci +2

      I actually have good news about this. A month ago I reached out to Philips (via their Dutch website), I explained the situation to customer service and they delivered a new attachment to my house. I thought they wouldn't do it because I had only checked their website and couldn't find anything 😆 I was wrong, so maybe you could try via the official customer service of Philips in your country? But I'm not sure where you purchased the device from. If you already tried it, then I'm sorry to hear that they didn't help you :(

    What about moles? Do you cover them or it's safe ?

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 25 dny +2

      I'd recommend covering them because they're dark and they will hurt if you zap them. I normally draw over them with a white (makeup) pencil or avoid the area if possible, but you could cover them with little plasters as well if that works better for you 🌸

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 3 měsíci +3

      There's no need to wear glasses, but it's recommended that you don't look directly at the flash. I simply look away and I've never had an issue 🌸

  • @breadislife.breadislove9451

    Thanks for the review! May I ask do you think that the heads are necessary? I want to use the device all over my body, but im afraid the base head is too big and it wouldnt light up in the bikini area. The additional 100 dollars difference for heads is quite huge

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před měsícem +1

      I'd say it's perfectly fine to get the one without the extra attachments. I normally use the big attachment for everything as well (except my face, it's just a bit too big, but technically possible). The other attachments have slightly different shapes and filters on the mirrors (probably for efficiency), but using the main one all over the body has worked fine for me before 😊
      So if you're trying to save up a bit, then the more affordable one is still a good choice 🌸

      Hey! As far as I could see, there aren't any differences between the 958 and the 956 series, except the colour and maybe the price, but that depends on the shop. Specs-wise I believe they're the same, so I recommend you get the one you think looks nicest and you can find for a better price 😊 The pink one wasn't an option when I got mine but if I were to buy one today, I'd go for the pink 💖

    Hey thanks for all the details. I had mine since September 2023 and i kept doing 2 weeks apart session, as I didn’t see a fast result. My last session was almost two weeks ago and i still see some ” noticeable “ hair in all parts of my body ( some in legs some in hands and so on) and still have strawberry legs . I dont know should i keep doing 2 weeks apart sessions until i see no hair or should i do 1 month or more .

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před měsícem +1

      Hey! I think that's normal, and I'd say that as long as you see progress, you should keep going until you're happy with the results. I've never had 100% smooth legs but it did make the hair a lot finer, sparser, and grow slower and that was fine for me.
      Keep doing it 2 weeks apart and it should get better and better over time. Maybe it will take more than 1-2 months, but eventually you'll get to a point where you maybe only need to do it once a month for upkeep 🌸

    I've done 5 treatments every 2 weeks and started with treatments every 4 weeks, but I noticed hair growth again. I did everything right, I've done my treatmants exactly how they told me to, on a highest settings that suits me, I have pale skin and darker hairs, but as soon as I stopped the initial phase, the hairs came back. What could be the problem?

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před měsícem +2

      It's hard to say but I'm pretty sure it's because of the hair growth phases. Everyone is different so maybe some of your hair just grows slower and you're seeing the result of that. It's possible that the ones you lasered so far have been destroyed but the new ones haven't been affected yet. Or maybe you have just a bit more stubborn hair. Continue using it and you should see more results. 5 treatments is not that much so hopefully with more repetition you'll get the results you're looking for 😊 Hang in there!

    Can I ask, I bought the IPL but it had only one attachment - body. Is it worth buying other attachments (bikini, underarms etc) or “body” attachment will work on those areas without the specific attachments?

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 23 dny

      I suggest you try out the body attachment for a few months, and only if you don't see results with that one, maybe you can invest in the other attachments. I've used the main body attachment on all areas of my body and it works perfectly fine 😊
      The only one worth the money imo is the face attachment, because it's smaller and makes the whole process more manageable. Hope that helps! 🌸

    I'm thinking about getting one. When using the IPL kit does it hurt since it uses intense pulses of light?

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 28 dny +1

      It depends a bit. If you shave really close to the skin, then it doesn't really hurt, you just feel the warmth of the light. If not, you'll feel just a very slight pinch every time. And it also depends on the area of your body - more sensitive zones tend to be more sensitive to this as well.
      But nothing really that should deter you from using this. This pain is nothing compared to waxing, for example. I think you'll be fine 😊

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 2 měsíci +3

      I think that would be fine. If I remember correctly, they recommended 2 weeks to account for the different phases the hair grows in, but if you can see that your hair is already growing back, I don't see why you couldn't have another session 😊 Just keep an eye out in case your skin gets irritated and if yes, then stop and go back to every 2 weeks 🌸

    do i have to shave before using IPL or can do directly on hair?

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 2 měsíci +3

      My advice would be to shave, and to shave as close as possible every time. You can technically use the laser if you don't shave, but you'll soon realise it hurts a whole lot and it'll smell like hell 😆 but most importantly, the ipl needs to reach the root of the hair to be effective. If you don't shave, I simply think it won't work.

    • @rucola.dragon
      @rucola.dragon  Před 2 měsíci

      It doesn't have a counter so you can't see how many flashes you used or have left over. It's simply the lifespan of the lamp in the device - could be longer, could be shorter.
      With that said, you have to remember that if you're consistent, you'll only need to do your whole body maybe for a year, anything growing after that will be in patches and you'll need far fewer flashes to achieve the result you want 🌸
