    I used cream of mushroom soup instead of condensed cream of chicken and it came out amazingly!!! Definitely going to make it again!!

    I agree...that is a ton of salt! I'm going to try this, but I'm going to substitute the celery salt for celery seed and the garlic salt for garlic powder. And I'll probably leave out the bouillon cube, because the cans of soup add enough flavor.

    Been making a variation of this for years. With way less salt though! I usually use only reduced sodium canned soup and add nothing extra. The highlights of this meal are cheap and easy. Not as good or healthy as everything made from scratch, but a college student can pull it off or a super busy set of parents commuting 3 hrs to and from work each day. Been there both times. And kids usually love it.

    To everyone complaining about the salt: use reduced sodium soup, sodium free bouillon cube, garlic powder and celery seed powder instead of the salted versions, and... don't add salt! Recipes aren't written in stone. I'm also wondering where all these people complaining about salt eat all of their un salted food other then at home. most food made in restaurants and take out and pre packed are loaded with salt.

    I made this dish in my crockpot for dinner at it taste really good. I deviated the recipe just a little. To the mix I had added 2 Maggie's chicken bouillon cubes, 26 oz can of Cream of Chicken and Cream of Celery soup

    Thanks for your question. If you want to cook this on low it will take about 7-8 hours, followed by an additional 1-2 hours after the vegetables are added. Enjoy :)

    Wow call the salt police. I can't believe all the people complaining about the salt. The chicken was not seasoned, the vegetables weren't seasoned so I don't see the problem. I have a friend who complains about salt and cheese in recipes. Yet she never has a problem eating my food that I make with a normal amount of salt and lots of cheese. Some people just like to complain.

  • @TheMissjujubee24
    @TheMissjujubee24 Před 10 lety +8

    I think the cooking time isn't correct. Usually takes 4 hours on high and 6 hours on low. Should take less than an hour to cook the frozen veggies. I agree with everyone about the high sodium. U can always use the low sodium cream of chicken. I think one can should be enough. The bouillon can be left out. I would also sub the garlic salt and celery salt. Other than that just looks like a chicken soup/stew can add rice to it or even noodles.

  • @nvd2ceb4
    @nvd2ceb4 Před 8 lety

    I've been looking for simple crock pot chicken pot pie recipes and find it difficult to find the right one because NONE of the recipes says the size of the crock pot. I have a 4qt crock pot because it's just me. I keep finding frozen peas and carrots and I'm not a fan of peas. It says cook on low for 6 hours. I like to find recipes where I can make my meal in 4 hours. I guess I'm going to have to keep searching or come up with my own concoction.

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  Před 8 lety

      Good thoughts here, nvd2ceb4, and we have a tip for you. You can determine which size crock pot or slow cooker the recipe uses by checking the number of servings. (You'll find serving amounts with each original recipe. Click the link to the original recipe at the top of the page, right below the "Published on" date, to open the original recipe page.)
      Here's a general key for sizes:
      - The smallest size -- 1 to 3 quarts -- will make 2-3 servings for a couple or single person.
      - A slow cooker that's 4 to 5 quarts will make 4 to six servings and serve a family of four. (Or you'll have leftovers!)
      - A slow cooker that's 6 quarts or larger will serve a crowd, and can be used for entertaining.
      One more tip: If you go to Allrecipes.com, you can search for recipes by ingredients. Look to the right of the "Find a recipe" box and you'll see "Ingredient Search," which will open boxes where you type in ingredients to include or exclude.
      Happy cooking, and we'd love to see your recipes!
