  • Manchester United Women's Team Captain Katie Zelem joins the UTD Podcast this week. She comes highly recommended on previous episodes with her team mates, and she didn't disappoint!
Katie opened up about the difficulties she faced as the only girl in her childhood football teams, receiving verbal abuse on the pitch and the sidelines. She spoke about how that made her stronger and how she wants to make sure other girls don't have to go through that, and how proud she is to see fans with the name 'Zelem' on the back of their shirts.
She also recalled how her dad 'tricked' her into trialling for Manchester United at The Cliff Training Ground, and her mum's reaction to seeing Katie's mural painted on a wall in Manchester city centre.
Helen, Sam and special guest host Pien Meulensteen also read out your emails at the end of the episode. If you'd like to write to the only official Manchester United Podcast then e-mail utdpodcast@manutd.co.uk
If you'd like to listen through our back-catalogue, the best place to do that is over on the Manchester United App, where you can listen to and watch all of our episodes in full for free!
We'd also love it if you could leave us a rating and review wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Football as a sport has for sure become so huge all over the world this days with social media & the norm this days is that football as a sport grew up with men/boys/guys playing the game we all love. It could have been so different if the sport was played by girls/womens in the early days when football was born back in the day when football wasn't all about money. It's now very important to break the norm in the world of football & grow the brand football so it can become a sport that we all can be proud of playing & love that is for the both genders. // Coming from a (latino) adopted from Colombia who lives in Sweden. Just wanted to comment show my support. All sport in any shape or form should this days be equal in the new modern world.

Like even today the dirsprect is still happening, a coach that I knew so well and respected, tried to pip me from my girls team to coach a boys team, telling me there's no point cos the drop off rate is so high, but then we'll just be back to where we started, keep doing your thing girls and ladies 💪🏿💪🏿

  • @royjones404

We have been embarrassed and bantered by loosing at home to our two main rival teams. Owners, coaches and board do not care. They then hide away for a week, come back, PR department in overdrive as though nothing has happened. ABSOLUTE discrace, board and ALL coaches need to be sacked !!!

Glazers out. The women’s team will not be successful under the ownership. The manager had to walk out. Nicky butt walked out.
Time to march onto old Trafford again and protest. We need to drive the owners out like Liverpool did to hicks and Gillette.
    Stop buying merch people ffs!

It like the super league is more important than Man Utd FC. Five nil lost at home to liverpool is far worse than us joining the super league. Man utd fans need to get their priorities right.
