Finally after so many years, an explanation of what that "LOUDNESS" button on my grandparents hifi audio receiver does. So when LOUDNESS is depressed, the button enables the receiver's hi/lo EQ curve and modifies the EQ's Gain in conjunction with the master volume knob setting?

Loudness is what cause brain perception to hear things more in your face without clipping sometimes often can be found on a ozone preset.
Maybe the algorithms online as well with the war closely coming to the end when 3D Dolby is coming and new rules set !
