Nice to see them do this showstopper, about 50 years after the definitive version by the trio of Doyle Lawson/Larry Rice/JD Crowe and Bobby Sloane slapping on the bass.
gettem boys
Saw them at the Lincoln Theater in Columbus last week. These five guys are beyond talented.
The playing is so clean and effortless. Love Pikelny's playing, of course all these guys are immense.
The Birchmere show of this group might be my favorite show I’ve ever been to
As good as it gets
This is so stinking good
Do I find
Peace of mind
Yes I do
Cause I was born to be with you
Wondrously, love can see
So I knew that I was born to be with you
By your side, satisfied
Through and through
Cause I was born to be with you
To love this song the music, the harmonies and all the pickers espically Noam
Sounds great, Noam! Nice warm vocals and hot pickin'.
Kudos to NP for playing it straight on this Crowe classic. Strong traditional driving bluegrass banjo playing. It might not be as melodically or technically complex as a lot of what he does with the Punch Bros., but it ain’t easy. I never head Jens Kruger play with that much Scruggs/Crowe drive. In fact, he played Crowe’s break almost note for note. I’m kinda surprised that he woodshedded that. That’s bluegrass. Respect.
Maybe just after Critter, Noam is the most adept traditionalist in Punch Brothers I would say. He definitely studied those old records and techniques extremely thoroughly, you can hear it in his playing.
All seems so absolutely effortless .. like drinking a glass of water ... amazing Noam
Brilliant bluegrass performance!
