    My slowpitch setup. 150g-350g rod. Ocea jigger2000 spooled with 30lbs braid. Amazing setup! Great for rockfish from 150'-450'. Also caught YT around the Islands. So much fun!

    greats explanations, thanks. Concerning the acid assembly, should the rings turn to the right or to the left for a right-handed person holding the crank in the left hand? Is it like you hold the rod, the rings turn in direction of the crank?

  • @ShinkiZer0
    @ShinkiZer0 Před rokem +2

    Great vid! How much drag do you set your reel? Thanks!

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  Před rokem +2

      This one is more dealers choice. Ceasar mentioned in this video (or possibly part 1), that he will actually lock down his drag all the way. But the point he was trying to make when he said that was that the rod could handle it. At the same time, this is indeed how he sets his drag.
      I'm not sure how Anthony sets up his reels but I'm guessing it'll be somewhere in between Ceasar and the standard 25% to 30%. Apologies on not having as definitive of an answer!

    Any recommendations on rods n reels for slow pitch micro jiggin for spotties?

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  Před rokem

      The Titan 63UL would be your closest bet. Jig rating of 20 to 40 so still on the heavier side assuming you want to go with 10 to 15 gram jigs. I'm guessing it would be super shallow water fishing so honestly you could just fish your standard bass rods with em with maybe 15 pound braid. 2500 to 3k on a spinning reel would do just fine. 100 size bait caster would work as well. The more finesse the more fun imo!

  • @JD.California_monkey_mackerel

    I would like to get a all around moltye spices fish for pier fishing a light nut strong rod how abut for pier fishing what lb braided fishing line would be great a 30lb or 40lb

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  Před rokem +1

      So when it comes to pier fishing, I'm not sure that we would recommend a traditional slow pitch setup. Just your standard medium to medium heavy rod with an appropriate line rating (maybe 15 to 30? or 20 to 40)....but it also depends on what you're targeting (bass/croaker/halibut or sharks and big rays). I'm not very experienced when it comes to pier fishing so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. But 30 to 40 lb braid sounds more than adequate...especially if you're going after smaller species (bonito, mackerel, bass, etc).

      @@BenjieKimFishing I love fishing for mackerel halibut and calico bass stingray or moltye spices of fish the 15lb 20lb 40lb is it in braided fishing line I just bought some 30 and 15lb spiderwier braided fishing line for my medium and medium Harvey 7"foot spinning combo and for my medium Harvey 7" foot bait caster combo I Spoiled it up with the 30lb I don't know how to tie a a leader line so I'm going to just fish straight braided fishing line

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  Před rokem +1

      @@JD.California_monkey_mackerel the 15 and 30 pound braid you bought will be fine. I’m not sure how fishing straight braid will be but pretty sure it’ll be fine for mackerel, rays, and such.
      Practice that connection knot a little bit at a time. You’ll perfect it in no time.
      Or put about 100 yards of braid as backing. Then go to your local tackle shop and have them tie a connection for you and put on another 100 to 200 mono. Then you’ll be good to go for a bit. Just a thought. Tight lines.

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  Před rokem +2

      Hey Gerard! Not too important from what the guys told me. You can keep it short and it'll be fine or if you make it longer (like down to your spool), it'll allow you a lot more reties. Hope that helps!

    Never buy spiral wrap guide, the line will always line up one sided on your spool, you will need to use your thumb to constantly realign the lines on your spool
    Normal overhead line guide is better choice, you wont have issues on lines end on one side

    • @kizzjd9578
      @kizzjd9578 Před rokem +2

      My spiral wrap rods dont do that, you can even get the neutral guide rods where the line is centred before the stripper guide if it’s a problem for you.
