Reminded me of Uncut Gems. Just the way it builds tension.
I like this format used by shows like Barry. Short 20-30 minute episodes in an 8 episode season. Quality over quantity. Every moment in the short formats seem to carry more weight and there's little to no filler. Production quality can also benefit from this as well. Shots are more deliberate, and there's less general coverage.
The immediacy and quality of art house film, combined with the extended narration and character development of television. Best of both worlds imo.
Found this to be a near perfect show. The last few minutes of the last ep… man. Want more but almost wish they wouldn’t make a season 2. That said, happy to see what’s next.
i don’t want them to make a season 2 out of fear of fucking it up 🤣 but i have faith that the showrunners & writers understand the integrity of the show & what made this first season such a banger

The shot you posted at 4:38 is a perfect example of how the one shot doesn’t allow the audience to catch a single break, genuinely felt like I’m back at work. As Carmy is front and centered in the shot the ticket machine is going off in the background- watching tickets pile up, and there’s his crew in the back counter just watching for a moment. All adding to the pressure
Absolutely love the show as much as possible. As someone who cooks for a living, it's really refreshing to actually get a fairly realistic take at Back Of House work. A lot of other portrayals of restaurant life tend to focus on the server side or are a very romanticized take on fine dining that often have a "if you like cooking, be a chef - follow your dreams!" type of message. The Bear is great because it's about people still trying to follow their dreams and passions in SPITE of the hardships, and every single day being a fight for survival.
I honestly never noticed episode 7's single shot because of the story immersion.
Which was the point of the one take. For story immersion. A one take is best when it serves the story, which it certainly did here.
I’ve been working professionally as a chef for some time now, but I’ve also lived In kitchens and bars my whole life, and I’ve gotta say this show is the absolute best depiction of the Back of House that I’ve ever seen.
I was going nuts when he had that big order, but it's easily able to finish. Not in 8 minutes though. One person for each food item and those that finish first help the one that isn't finished. Salad and fries would be easiest. Cake I hope you just have to slice it up. The sandwiches though would be a bit much. Especially 200 of them reminds me of st Patrick's day when we have fixed menu and have to fire off 100's of orders at a time.
great commentary and insight into ep 7 The Bear weirdly reminds me of Fleabag they are not similar shows at all, but the tightness and pacing, psychological exploration and chaos really resonated in a similar way to me
I'm not sure if I want a second season, the series deserves it, but that ending closes the story so well
right? im afraid that if the second season does well, they'll do a third, then fourth then so on. sometimes shows just need to end before they burn themselves out. not saying this is the destiny for The Bear, just that it is a possibility.

I work in the Industry and Episode 7 was a perfect depiction of a stressful day at Work 😂
For all those who have not worked in hospitality. This show almost perfectly depicts how it feels to be in a restaurant. The fast close action interlaced with long intimate scenes give a really amazing representation of the industry.
I watched it as soon as it came out. As a person that has worked in a commercia kitchen for over 18 years I can relate to the show in one way or another. I can't wait for the next season.
It's brilliant. As a nurse who is a 15-year worker in the food industry in my previous life, this show brought back some crazy PTSD. If I were a Fortune 500 exec, experience in the food service industry would rank HIGH when I was considering any candidates for employment.
You must do well under stress with those 2 career choices 😅
I heard about the one take prior to checking out the show. I kept watching the episodes waiting for it to come up. And by the time it came up,I didn’t even realize it was the episode until halfway through. I became so immersed in the character arcs,the performances,and the sheer panic of the scene. Coming from a year when Better Call Saul season 6 just ended,it’s nuts that this show just came out of nowhere with one of the best scenes and episodes I’ve seen in a fucking minute
When I finished watching episode 7 I felt the same thing when I finished Uncut Gems, like, I could breath out again 😂😂😂 I didn't realize I was holding my breath and stressed out until it was done and I could relax 🙈 AMAZING SHOW
This show is insanely well done. An absolute panic inducing, heart felt show that doesn't skimp on heart. Definitely a standout for this year. All the actors were great and I really hope this catapults Jeremy Allen White into bigger roles because the guy can act his ass off.
as someone who spent years working in high-end fine dining establishments, as well as old mom and pop shops like The Beef was, I found this show absolutely incredible. I know the pain that bringing a proper chef into a nonchalant kitchen can be. but I also know the frustrations of trying to run a proper, respectable kitchen, when the rest of the staff isn't taking anything seriously. this show seriously gave me flashbacks and nostalgia for working in the kitchen. and a strange longing for the type of shitshow depicted in this episode. man I fucking miss working in a professional kitchen.
Very nice vid. I worked in the service industry in my early-mid twenties, but I never really understood the extent to which cooks/chefs talk about their profession as if they're war vets. When I started going to therapy I realized that's because I'm such an angry prick by default, that this type of work environment seemed almost normal to me :D I think I'll give the series a watch too.
P.S. It's nice to see a new channel start with really good content. If you ever want to collab, let me know, because based on this video + your favorites playlist, I think it could be pretty fun :D
It's like monkey see monkey do, i live in asia and if any restaurant runs like this nobody would go there. No matter how tasty the food is. Because we do not want to contribute towards any human suffering, it seems that western civilization have this idea for something to be good it must include human suffering, like it's not bad it's a normality

Love the show! It kind of reminds me of Succession somehow.. There’s the dark comedy, the writing that feels improvised yet sharp and precise, the chaos and constant bickering between characters, and the camera work with long takes and quick cuts. Also there’s something about the character of Carmen that reminds me of Kendall in some way?
Sick show, working most of my life in a kitchen . Almost depicts the kitchen perfect. Sydney first days , Carm is a perfect chefs demeanor, the abuses , the catastrophe, the coming together. Bravo 🐻

It's like being drafted into war when you work full time in a mom and pop style kitchen. Days just sling by and every dinner service is just a mountain to get through and when your cleaning up and going home you know you have to do the same thing say after day until Sunday and it goes by so fast you barely had time to recharge yourself. Then it's back into it for the next week.

In india , we dont have hulu or fx , but the bear is available on Disney+ hotstar , one kind of OTT service tht lets u stream movies shows and live sports , like football , cricket, motoGP etc so anyway while browsing through countless drab peices of Marvel Disney shows , which i personally dont like and abhor , I came across The Bear - something about the art work, the setting , etc felt so unique and itriguing, and one fine weeknd I decided to check it out. And Instantly i qas hooked , i remember staying uptil 5 in the morning watching the episodes back ro back , what an amazing underrated gem of a show we have here guys unbelievable.
I am not a cook but my sister is, and just based on this small sample, its F###ing spot on. Love this show. Can't wait for the next season.

I looooved this show, watched it with my husband and we even repeat watched it immediately. Recomeneded it to my parents and for some reason they are not getting it, its weird because usually we love the same shows, but maybe its the stress and screaming they are up to ep 5 and even wanted to drop it :( Convinced them to keep watching, this show is amazing, I hope they like it by the end.

I know some people in the comments said they would’ve been happy w just the first season. In fear that the second season won’t be as good and I truly understand but I’d have to disagree. It’s a really good show but what surprised me w how real the people were and how diverse it is as well. It’s not often that you see a characters like Sydney portrayed by a black women that looks like how she does. Natural. Her character was a breath of fresh air and can’t wait too see more of her and everyone else in season 2

Best show I’ve seen in a long time. Season 1 has some corny lines sprinkled in, but season 2 pretty much corrects that and elevates the characters even more. I was shocked upon realizing that episode 7 of season 1 is not the craziest in the show. Buckle up kids, it’s gonna be a wild ride

I work in the office across the street from Mr. Beef. It was cool watching them film, but I wasn't able to park in my usual spot since they closed the street down.
It’s not surprising at all if you work in the industry your whole life like I and many of my mates have it’s not surprising at all the hand in the show who helped create it the very influential people who have Cameo characters on there as well. That show is a love letter to anyone who holds themselves as a chef/line cook. I swear people shit on us all the time bc of what we do but the bear once again re ignited my passion for the culinary world . Omg it’s such a good show I literally got PTSD watching.

Most of my adult life has been in the restaurant world. I've had to deal with some demons of my own before and sure I'll have some more down the road. So for that I'm prbly biased but I loved this first season.

It can be anxiety inducing, but with it there are some very sweet moments.

Have you seen the movie Boiling point with Stephen Graham? I loved the bear, but boiling point did it first and hit a very similar note. And it was all shot in a single take, without feeling gimmicky

To be honest you are a great story Teller. I enjoyed ever moment. This kid is such a great actor in shameless. He couldn't get out of his own way. He is smart but again he is waiting to fail and it doesn't care who goes down with him. I bet he's like this in real life. He doesn't care if anyone goes down with his friendly fire.
