  • In this video Sony photographer Gary Friedman talks about the pro-level features of the Sony Alpha 7R IV (A7R IV) and Alpha 9 II (A9 II) cameras that nobody's talking about. (These features appear on the newer A1 as well.) Included in this demonstration:
    * Downloading thumbnails and images while your camera is still off
    * Uploading your images automatically to your FTP server the moment you take them.
    * Captioning and keywording your images first before uploading to an FTP server.
    * (And a 4th surprise for owners of A9 and A9 II cameras only)
    By now you're wondering, "What ELSE haven't people told me about these cameras?" Find out by reading Gary's incredibly-detailed (750+ pages!) on each of these cameras! Entire library can be found at FriedmanArchives.com/ebooks
    Apps discussed in this video:
    Sony Transfer and Tagging Add-On
    Cnct. during Power OFF function
    Bluetooth
    FTP Transfer Func.
    Imaging Edge Mobile

    Thanks Gary, this is helpful, as always. This will make me look harder at the bluetooth power/transfer feature. Sometimes that ability to grab, edit, and share, without messing with wifi/cards/the camera/etc. is needed. On my A7RIV, I sometimes also use the FTP-to-mobile device option via Sony's Transfer & Tagging app as a way to have files - as I shoot - streaming to my phone in the background. When quick stops allow, I grab a few inside of that app to export into other phone apps for editing or social media and sharing. It's not a replacement for wifi, bluetooth, or card transfer, but an alternative for certain scenarios. The pro is, I don't have to do anything else to get the files because they're already on my device when I have a moment to review and share on the go. The con is that Transfer & Tagging app - right now - doesn't auto import all the files into your device's photos library (where the Sony ImageEdgeMobile app does). So, you have to export one by one. Sony should consider adding that feature to its Transfer & Tagging app. Thanks again!

    Nice video Gary! One thing that jumped out to me is the shutter speed on this is on the slow side so you're getting quite a lot of motion blur which can make the video look soft. Look forward to the next one!

    My A7RIV connects fine to my wifi access point. But my Desktop PC which is connected via cable to the same network can't see it (does not show up for pairing when I activate pairing mode on the A7RIV). Can wifi remoting only work if *both* are using wifi to connect to the access point?

    • @FriedmanArchives
      @FriedmanArchives  Před 3 lety

      Yes, both have to be connected to the access point via wi-fi. I agree with you that it would be nice if your cabled destktop could be used too.

    *Gary Friedman* Your videos are always so great, but no reference on the "resolution" of objectives. I wonder if i can take advantage of the high resolution 42MP (A7R2 or A7R3) camera, by using a non-G objective, such as the Vario-Sonnar® T* DT 16-80mm F3.5-4.5 ZA *AND* the old Minolta zoom 100-300mm APO.

    • @FriedmanArchives
      @FriedmanArchives  Před 3 lety +1

      The answer is yes, although newer lenses which can resolve up to 50 lp/mm will always look better when you examine your images with an electron microscope.
