    This is absolutely perfect. The song the dialogs the transitions. Mass Effect is still one of the best trilogy ever made. So many feelings with this trilogy

    It would’ve been so much better if the illusive man stayed as an anti-villain not just another puppet for the reapers I would’ve loved to see Cerberus fight against the reapers and working with Shepard even though he betrayed them Jack knows there is a bigger threat (jack harper is his real name by the way)

      True my goodwill towards the galaxy dried up when the turians opened fire without warning on a species unaware of what it was even doing, when a child pokes a fork into an electrical outlet do you just shoot them or explain its wrong? Or when the asari kept prothean tech to themselves for thousands of years while also demanding it of everyone else or the salarians neutering an entire race it their short-sightedness. Every species is out for their own no matter what rhetoric they may spout humanity needs an organisation like cerbarus just not one that's indoctrinated

    • @matthewthompson2403
      @matthewthompson2403 Před 5 měsíci

      My opinion, I think he was bound to become the villain from the start, he's ruthlessness, he determination of control whatever the cost took him on a dark path, he wasn't a good person in the second game either, basically used you so he can achieve reaper tech which without knowing would indoctrinate him.
      I really loved his character tho, one of my favourite anti villain, seran another favourite, if you watch both seran and illusive man dialogue, they're eairly similar, both did what they thought best for their people.

      @@starlord1637 I'd say a lot of fans know TIM's real name is Jack Harper.

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 Před 4 měsíci

      @@matthewthompson2403 I agree, It seems pretty obvious to me that TIM wants to control the Galaxy with humans at the top of the food chain. This is made especially clear in the Omega DLC in ME3. Look how the non-humans are treated when his soldiers take control of Omega and it is very apparent he sees hon-humans of all species as dirt beneath the feat of the human race. Likewise, he sees himself as the ultimate leader. He'd become a dictator even over humans.
      All of that being said, I do agree that it would have been interesting if Bioware HAD done what Frankmark suggested and made him and Cerberus into another faction fighting the Reapers for their own survival, despite having different beliefs.

    "He could never have taken control, because we already controlled him"
    That line from the starchild just cements the indoctrination theory to me, meaning if Shep chooses control now the reapers control Shepard.
    Also, why after all this time would you follow what The Illusive Man (bad guy) wants and not what Anderson (good guy) wants, yaknow?

    • @tomaslimer

      the indoctrination theory was denied and dismissed by bioware

    • @Sigurjon96
      @Sigurjon96 Před rokem +3

      I wouldn't necessarily call Anderson a good guy. He's just this overbearing and controlling father figure that you never asked for. Being better than Udina isn't something to be too proud of. Always liked Hackett more he's the face of the Alliance as far as I'm concerned. Anderson reminds me too much of Ashley and her egotism. He's overrated in my opinion.

      @@Sigurjon96I know I'm abit late to the party, I don't understand why Anderson gets hate, he just a dad that always has your back no matter what, what wrong with that and udina, everyone better then the backstabbing prick, just wanna know why you and others don't like him,

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 Před 4 měsíci +2

      Bioware has already said the Indoctrination Theory is a completely fan made up idea. It's not part of lore. But, if you like it for your head cannon for your own games, go for it.

    The Reapers were the main enemy of the Mass Effect trilogy, but I would argue that the Illusive Man is the main antagonist of the trilogy.
    The Illusive Man would sell humanity's soul to save them from the Reapers. He would screw over the rest of the galaxy to put humanity at the top of the food chain.
    Shepard, even if you chose the Renegade route, had lines he/she wouldn't cross. Shepard's mission is to end the Reaper threat once and for all for the benefit of the galaxy.
    They're character mirrors. The Illusive Man is who Shepard could become if he/she didn't have influences like Anderson, if he/she didn't have people like Garrus and Ashley watching his/her back. Without people like Liara and Tali to pick him/her up when he/she's down, who's to say he wouldn't be exactly like the Illusive Man?

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 Před 4 měsíci

      This is especially so for a Renegade Shepard, who is often portrayed as both selfish and the "I'll do whatever it takes to finish this mission successfully, even let innocents die."

    Illusive Man would’ve been a much cooler villain in ME3 if he wasn’t indoctrinated and playing to the will of the Reapers. Cause in ME2 what made him interesting was that he and Cerberus were viewed by both Shepard and his crew as a necessary evil. He was an anti hero character of sorts.

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 Před 4 měsíci

      I agree. It'd have made him and Cerberus the logical choice for the main opposition in ME4, also (I do not count Andromeda as ME4, but rather a spin off, but that is another discussion entirely).

      @@shepardn7art That's why I've never seen it. I don't think I've ever picked that ending honestly, especially after indoctrination theory XD. That makes a lot more sense though. I was thinking that was them repairing the relay that got destroyed in Arrival. Thanks. :D

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@agroed I do not follow the indoctrination fan-theory. That being said, to me, literally the only ending is Destroy. That's what Shepard has been fighting for the entire trilogy. If one chooses Synthesis or Control, the Reapers win. Saren parroted Synthesis bit in ME1, and TIM Control in ME3. Both were indoctrinated. Which, I will admit does play well with the Indoctrination Theory, but it also plays into the game without it.

    Good video. A lot of focus on Cerberus and their plotlines especially in ME3. Would have liked to see more of the Reapers and crew members. TIM is an indoctrinated narcissistic fool everyone could see that. Kai Leng might have been the most frustrating character ever. If it wasn't for Troy Baker's charisma and him voicing I think he would have been the worst villain of all time if he isn't already that.
