  • In America, nearly 30% of those exonerated by DNA tests had previously confessed. This method of slowly building pressure often made it seem that admitting guilt was the easiest way out. But now, a number of police forces are abandoning the Reid technique because of the risk of generating false confessions.
Why would someone confess to a crime they didn’t commit? The 'Reid Technique' has been the favoured way of interrogating suspects for the past 50 years, but the evidence is mounting that its extracted confessions are often false.
In the darkness of the interrogation room, cut off from the world and terrified by police officers, they finally said what the interrogators wanted to hear… the moment their lives changed forever.
We hear from the men and women who have spent more than 20 years in prison for crimes they did not commit.

It's easy. Don't talk to the police. There is a famous lecture between a lawyer and a detective on CZcams explaining the numerous reasons why silence is the only answer to interrogation. Stay informed.

some will crack from fear, is is how it is, however this is solved with a law stating that any forced confession due to investigation techniquies like these then the investigating detetctives automatically go to prison serivn the sentence, even a death sentence, and they do not get a trial becuse a trial has been held and gult has been established, meaning they are f-ed.
and that solves it, to basically make it a two way sword, if it is ever founf out the cop gores straight to joail and no trila since a trial has been held.
I can not see any logical way this is unfair

Having known someone who was coerced into confessing to a crime that they did not commit, my best advice is DEMAND A LAWYER AND KEEP QUITE. No matter what they do to you, assuming that there even WAS a crime committed, think about this. If you confess under duress to a crime you did not commit, all effort and energy will be turned on YOU and the true guilty party still goes free to find and exploit another victim. Though I think there are some good cops out there, for many this is a sick twisted game and they actually ENJOY destroying lives of innocent people. Be strong and do not confess. Also, do not be lulled into a false sense of comfort and security by their small talk and friendly attitudes (it's all a bad act). That is a tactic designed to make you lower your guard (don't be fooled by it!) Remain silent until you speak with an attorney and then tell them how they tried to falsely manipulate you and probably countless others into confessing to a crime which in itself SHOULD be a crime under the statute of filing false charges. Then remember that you can sue them for false imprisonment, falsely detaining you and for any psychological trauma that you endured because of some evil police officers.

The only answer you should give police, whether you're guilty or innocent is "no comment". Questioning without a lawyer should be made illegal. That's talking as a British citizen, though.

When you experience physiological trams prior to being questioned can make it easy for the cops to trick you and they love to use the line(this is your 1free out just tell me what happened).
At some point you just want to be left alone and they make you think you will go home if you tell them what they want to hear-.

Even if you were caught with your hand in the cookie jar holding a cookie, don't admit anything.
Don't lie. Just don't say anything at all. "I want a lawyer. I want to remain silent. " End the conversation there.
