Finnan getting up to enact revenge upon the slave driver who had battered and broken their souls and took Halig’s life is the moment he and Uhtred became brothers in a bond as solid as Uhtred and Ragnar’s, and Uhtred’s acknowledgement of Finnan doing for him what he had not the strength to get up and do himself is the defining moment that both of these men became bound, topped off by the fact that Finnan ensures the last word that monster hears is the same word he hurled at them over so many months of torment is exactly why this show is one of the best and most underrated shows in Netflix’s entire catalogue
Ragnar killing Kjartan and not letting him to Valhalla, Thyra sending dogs to kill Sven, Uhtred and Brida killing Aethelwold, Brida killing Cnut. I could go on. But I've only realised that justice in the series revolves mostly around death and killing.
As a fellow Viking era fan ! I must admit after watching vikings I watched the first episode of this and turnt my nose down at it after around a year later I came back to it to give it another try and boy was I wrong this show in its own right is a masterpiece !
That's how I feel about Vikings I have never tried to watch it because I want the same thing as this show brings, is it worth a watch because ill binge it if it is
@@tsillaots8962 Poassibly - I gave up around episode 5. I now have seasons 1-4 of "The Last Kingdom" on DVD. Season 4 of TLK departed from the books somewhat but I intend to watch Season 5 to see what happens!
Alexander Dreymon is bloody brilliant at these scenes involving raw emotion. This scene and his scream after Iseults death strike are two moments I always remember just for how real they seem. Such a talented actor
@@mirjanazorkic Contact any part way decent bookshop. I have the entire series (in paperback) price for each ranging from just under 3 UK pounds to 20 UK pounds, all ordered by e-mail.
I finished the season 4 yesterday and I'm soo sad but can't wait for the new season and after looking how far Uhtred came I'm coming vack to this episode. I think it's one of the best episodes, all the emotions, the musics (especially when Halig died) and the way Uthred changed forever... Also when Ragnar holds him and later Hild comes to clean him up, you can see the bond between them and love and loyalty...
I have watched it more than anyone can I swear , it made me remember even the dialogues and I actually speak even before they speak, I might never keep me self watch it again and again. ❤
I did not like the ‘Uthred becomes a slave’ storyline, not sure how it fitted into wider story beyond being a consequence of Guthred’s betrayal, but I loved this scene. The raw emotion and vulnerability as Uthred collapses into Ragnar’s arms… 😢 also love how all his friends came to fight for and free him, but no one loses any respect for Uthred seeing him so vulnerable. He inspires the loyalty of good people.
Finnan getting to Kill the slave master was so great and then to top it off he says only one word "pull" the word the slave master had yelled, screamed and taunted them with for months on end.
I hope the next season comes soon I sometimes forget how great a show this is, I also like Vikings but has anyone else noticed that some fans of Vikings have a kind of snobbery and look down on Last Kingdom? The fools if they only knew what they were missing, the storyline is great the plot seems to get stronger and builds with the show and honestly there is some of the best acting you could find. Although all are great for me The King and Queen are just amazing both are so believable
Why not? He's not a threat unless you're a half starved slave or a young girl. Let him carry the story of what happened, his hysterical fear a herald of the bloody doom that's coming for him and his family.
Swen was such an unconvincing character(by who he was played), for who he was imagined to be. He's father, Kjartan, was a badass dude whos actor lived up to character, but sven? I don't know, maybe he was just, meant to be that character.. If I were to hear/read about sven I would be convinced, but seing him as I did, nah.
Bloody ell chopping onions 🧅 😭 when Earl Ragnar embraces his brother Schoolboy error It was actually more moving in the book because Uhtred was too ashamed to look at Ragnar and Steapa (great character unfortunately largely written out of the TV and he fought with a giant sword not an axe 🪓) from my recollection tried to kill himself when he got a weapon because he was so ashamed of being a slave Also the slaver had a very nice death here, in the book by the time Finan had finished with him there wasn’t enough left to fill a shoe box 😃
The king was a pawn to the Abbot. He made up the "dream" about Gunthred, because he needed someone who could be easily manipulated. The abbot was essentially in charge, under the pretense of the church....
Ragnar, Beocca and Leofric were the best characters man always had Uhtreds back and were loyal to the end 😢
And Finan👌
Bradders but he’s alive...
@@alfied46 Good point😅 But I felt Finan still needed a shout out!

I cried when Ragnar held him. Such raw emotion in this scene
Look at Ragnar´s eyes at 3:24, with perplexity knowing Uthred´s spirit was destroyed by what he suffered as a slave. OMG that was an amazing scene.

a painful and honest portrayal of the pain, degradation and brokenness of slavery and what it does to the soul.

Finan killing the slave master is literally the only justice in this whole serie
Ragnar killing Kjartan and not letting him to Valhalla, Thyra sending dogs to kill Sven, Uhtred and Brida killing Aethelwold, Brida killing Cnut. I could go on.

Amazing scene at 3:24 when Ragnar´s eyes reveals his perplexity, knowing Uthred´s spirit was destroyed by what he suffered as a slave.
I cried at this scene. Poor Uhtreed looked so vulnerable when his brother came to save him
"I will be forever the man who stood tall against a helpless slave, yet fled without hesitation in the face of an able-bodied foe."
Yeah, Sven was cringe af. Even his father clearly despised him.
4:16 first time and the last time i see Finan crying, best male (best female friend Hild) friend to Uthred, impressive character, great actor!
I mean, even the strongest man would get broken by being abused like that.

Uthred and Finan relationship reminds me of Thorfinn and Einar from Vinland Saga. They are also look alike and be a brothers after slavery.
In the books Uthred was a slave for two whole years.

pretty shit that he let brida become a slave after he went through this.
Brida is a psychopath who murders children and women for literally no reason, she deserved everything that happened to her.
How did he become a slave again
That dumbass king Guthred sold him into slavery because Uhtred's uncle had wanted his head but he didn't want to kill him.
