If we were living in the late 60's right now ,this song would been playing all radio stations and be an instant hit. It's unfortunate today you don't hear this on radio stations or rarely.

This dude is the real deal. Got to see him at the Chicago Theater and felt I was seeing someone truly special.
Go listen to the rest of the album. The guy is all over the place. He can play anything. The rest of the album is what brings the Jimi comparisons.

Blues is the backbone of 80% of genres out there. I agree with everything except blues became recognized in the 20's. Blues started around 1810.

Agreed. Dave is actually my favourite musician, and I really like Cut Me Some Slack, but I still think Gary should have won the Grammy.
He's not Hendrix in term of similiarity, but Gary Clark Jr has created a very particular fusion of blues and contemporary R&B/soul music, in a similar manner to how Hendrix seamlessly merged blues music with psychedelic and folk music.
Plus, GCJ's guitar skills are incredible. Like Hendrix, he's a guitarist who knows how to do fingerpicking on an acoustic incredibly well.

You can't afford that either, it's a vintage Epiphone from before they became a Gibson umbrella company. Probably set you back $5000

Recently came across Gary in a Clapton Crossroads festival on Palladia. Where the hell have I been? This guy is GOOD! Reminds me of a mix of Robin Trower and Clapton. Great shit!

If all you go by is this one song, then sure. But listen to some of his other stuff before dismissing him out of hand. He channels everything from Clapton to Berry to Johnson to Guy to King, even SRV, yet has his own "feel" that brings a freshness to blues/jazz/funk that is sorely needed.

you got the facts a bit out of order... it started in the 20's/30's with Blues Music, in the 40's/50's it evolved into rock and roll, 'Doo-Wop' and Soul Music. In the early 60's, British musicians picked up on American Blues music, in the late 60's/early 70's, psychedelia and heavy metal music. There were many black guitarists before and after Chuck Berry. And, your forgot Prince in the 80's, still kickin' in his 50's. Hendrix changed the sound of Rock and Roll forever.
