Lyrics:
Well the church bells are calling
Police cars on fire
And as they call you to the eye of the storm
All the people say "Stay at home tonight"
I say we are the pigs, we are the swine
We are the stars of the firing line
And as the smack cracks at your window
You wake up with a gun in your mouth
Oh let the nuclear wind blow away my sins
And I'll stay at home in my house
I say, we are the pigs
We are the swine
We are the stars of the firing line
But deceit can't save you so
We will watch them burn...

My god, the guitar work is absolute brilliance.
This is a great song from a great band and I don't understand why they're not recognized in all their glory. Suede was and stil are a fenomenous band!!!
"Let the nuclear wind blow away my sins..." never tire of hearing that
The most unique and respected band of the 90s
the best
The best band of the 90s!
I disagree but ok
Raj Nirvan: but oh, so underrated. They were overshadowed by Oasis and Blur etc and consequently never reached the heights they deserved.
Wrong on both counts, great band tho
lyrically, it's their finest single
so underrated. suede STILL awesome
I am 16 and I wonder how I didn't discover this band before...
I'm 28 and have only recently discovered Suede. Better late than never, I suppose.
I love this band so much. I'm actually obsessed. I write music all day everyday, and this has added a whole new element to my whole life. Literally, a life changing band. Butterfly effect in effect.
One of the greatest songs of the '90s
Orwellian overtones with such an aria of its time. I still get chills watching and listening to this, a great opener to an amazing album, accompanied by powerful visuals, even today. No nostalgia, no halcyon days, just powerful, meaningful art made in a beautiful way. Thank you Suede.
What a guitar! Butler is unique!
this magnificent lp "dog man star" is one of the best 90's album ! as the band suede too !
I know (now!) it is an effect, but Brett's voice sounds massive and extremely rich on this track in especial
If there was ever a Bond movie called "We Are The Pigs", this would make the perfect theme tune.
Alas there isn't.
PERFECTION.
underrated..................
Totally
agreed
The best Song from Suede!!!
Richard Nemeth no that was picnic by the motorway!
mine, too
i am so in love with brett
One of my top 5 suede songs ever! Forgot how great this is! So Young, Stay Together, Pantomime Horse, this and The 2 of us :-)
what about Aniimal Nitrate, Trash ?
totally agree with you! Stay together , The 2 of us, So young!! Also like a lot Indian Strings and from their last album The fuer and the feathers!! You know what is great about Suede and what make them so unique for sure!!
Masterpiece
One of the best music videos ever made.
Suede were an anathema ...a band out of kilter with their time, but yet so modern...the guitars sounded like Bowie a la Mick Ronson Ziggy era....but they had an artistic/fashion verve to match.....they really truly did NOT fit the crude, crass 'Brit Pop' nomenclature many gave them at the time ...no...looking back,.they were altogether something else...far more special, unique....for me, this song represents them at their glorious best.....'we all watch them burn...'
La mejor banda de los 90,,,y si no es cierto, desmientémelo.
matando güeros
divine comedy, auteurs y pulp pueden plantarles cara tranquilamente
That bass line
This is an anthem!
this clip presented a truly dystopian future with gigantic screens of brett anderson plasterd over skyscrapers, luckily things didnt turn out quite that bleak
what a TRULY GREAT FUCKING GROUP! they have so many wonderful songs from ( The Living Dead to It Starts And Ends With You) but for some strange reason they could not make it big in the United States.
Amazing guitar work
Magnifica
that horn sound
and Brett acting as if he is Big Brother
great song!
No puedo creer que recién ahora conozca esta banda... sonido fresco, excelentes videos, buena producción. Gracias por compartilo! Argentina presente.
The bomb - the vid and the song are the best from the best Dog Man Star...
I just watch they played this song on live tonight :)
SEMPRE FICO PENSANDO COMO ALGUÉM CONSEGUE ESCREVER UMA MUSICA TAO PERFEITA ....
I can only imagine the shitstorm this music video would cause if it was released nowadays.
Great video. This and Beautiful Ones are their best videos.
Bernard Butler, a genius one
Agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grande Suede!!!!
i love this
VOICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Vieram, viram e venceram! Estes sao o Suede.
Great song. Reminds me of 'Made of Stone' in terms of song structure, plus lyrics. Also both tracks have top solos
Exactly. We are the pig. We are all the pig.
Excelente!!!
britpop golden era
Som elegante e muito lindo!
This is my purge song. Hands down.
awsome
Awesome
Brill band 💚🎵
Essa música foi a minha favorita de primeira...
we r the pigs, we r the swine!!!!!!!!!!!!
"But deceit can't save you..."
That is the only half-decent line in the whole song.
I actually kinda like the lyrics
uno delos mejores discos de los 90as esa guitarra que da un paletazo de colores, grande los dos cerebros de suede
I, for one, welcome our new overlord Brett Brother
don't know why this song makes me think of the book,Lord of the Flies.
PRETTY HARD ROCK
1984 ? ?¿ george orwell,,, maybe ???
Always when i listen to Jack White, i remember this, so great :)
Los 90 y sus noches interminables. Jejje
Never truer than now.
*We are the stars of the firing line.
what is it with sude and their music videos having something to do with the london underground in them?
MMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSIV

A truly stunning song, with political change in the air, this is poignant (no pun intended.)
reminds me too much of an 80's band
Might try to remake this video in gmod using Combine :P
This is song is about George Orwell book??
I think it too
For me it makes a lot of sense
gto0410 “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” -George Santayana

#world'ssexiestband
2017 ;)
2017
I SAY
we are the pigs.............
When Butler left I thought the band may have been shorn of their trade mark sound, but they came back with this amazing song......what a riposte to the doubters!
Interesting vid though not sure why it was banned. TBH I was never really a fan of this song but really like Dog Man Star, unfortunately it was so out of step with what came immediately after. Shame as its a great though sometimes infuriating record which would probably have been better if Bernard Butler had stuck around to finish it. I would have loved to hear The Asphalt World the way he wanted it.
I am the biggest Bernard Butler fan that you could possibly imagine, but I cannot believe that The Asphalt World could possibly sound better then it did as it did on Dog Man Star, Just my opinion, but I fully understand that Bernard has his.
@underworldxxxxx Fenomenous? ;)
Wonder if this will get played b4 the olympics..LOL
@jessamike Actually this little gem was created in 1994.
Less than 1 thousand "like"? mmmh
@Karaiq Why?
Their first two albums were simply staggering, who knows how good they might have become if they hadn't fallen to the age old curse of the 'singer/guitarist divorce'...... After Butler left, the spark was gone. Without the sheer drama Butler's music provided, Anderson's lyrics sounded a bit daft, he couldn't carry off his delusions of grubby glamour without Bernard Butler.
A jigsaw Music video.
poisonous
@Borderminefield cops
Impressive song. 32 persons loves reggaeton.. Jajaja, que inútiles.
a brit pop song to become anti brit pop
We will watch them BERN (#berniesanders2016)
A lot of people have lost their taste in this type of music now a days people are listening to pop music I do not really like
I can play guitar like that. NOT.
Great riffing, soloing and video; but the tune's mediocre and the lyrics stink on ice. Thankfully 'Coming Up' was a comeback of sorts.
