✨Benefits of Herbs with High Mucilage✨
🌱 AMBUNU: African herb that hydrates, cleanses, and provides slip to make detangling a breeze.
🌱 Slippery Elm: herb that strengthens and protects the hair from hair loss. It also adds slip to your DIY Creations.
🌱 Marshmallow Root: herb that has a high mucilage payoff, which means even more slip. This mucilage will nourish the hair & easily remove knots & tangles.
🌱 Fenugreek: herb that provides moisture to dry hair & scalp and promotes hair growth. It also adds slip to ease the detangling process.

    FAQ:
    1. Should I add a preservative to the DIY Detangling Leave-in Conditioner?
    ✨Answer: Yes, Period!
Reason: Bacteria, Mold, Fungus in your hair! EWWW. Refrigeration will NOT preserve your product. Nasties start growing within 24 hours even when refrigerated. However, please refrigerate if you do not use a preservative at your own risk.
⚠️ IMPORTANT! Whenever you add raw or food grade ingredients to a product, it WILL reduce the shelf life. Take caution when using for long periods of time. In most cases, a preservative is not enough. Here are some tips:
1️⃣ I added rosemary extract and butylene glycol to this conditioner because they both have antimicrobial properties. The rosemary extract and butylene glycol will work with the preservative to help add more protection.
2️⃣ I also believe using a pump or squeeze bottle will lessen the chances of contamination.
3️⃣ When using raw or food grade ingredients, I recommend making a small batch that you can use up quickly.
4️⃣ You can also refrigerate the product even with a preservative added. This will help extend its life.

This works awesome as rinse out as well. I prepared and freeze in small quantities. Used alone or added to commercial conditioner. Really awesome. I actually reduced the water phase a bit and added more oil since I am using as a rinse out. It’s super awesome. Just a freezer tip though for longevity or larger batches.

Hi Yaya, thanks so much for this video. I recently made a leave-in conditioner quite similar to this but without the herbal tea and guarcar but didn't get as much slip. Which ingredient would you say provided the structure for the slip of your product? Thanks so much

Ambunu and slippery elm for the slip. Maybe your water was too much for the quantity of these two herbs I mentioned

Thank you so much! Love all your creations. Will the raw ingredients reduce the shelf life of the product? I know preservative has been added. Yet a doubt

Great question! I wanted to mention this in the video. The raw ingredients "WILL" reduce the shelf life. To help this, I added the rosemary extract and butylene glycol; because they both have antimicrobial properties. The rosemary extract and butylene glycol will work with the preservative to help add more protection. I also believe using a pump or squeeze bottle will lessen the chances of contamination.
When using raw or food grade ingredients, I recommend making a small batch that you can use up quickly. You can also refrigerate the product even with a preservative added. This will help extend its life.
I am so grateful you asked this question because this is so important. I will also add this information to the description box for others to see. Thank you. 💜😊
