Hi, can you please say where can I find the manuka honey
How do you like their ingredients?
Appreciate u going thru the steps
You’re the best! Thank you so much! Will deffo experiment!
Thank you! Happy to help. Yes, I am thinking of starting a “Testing/Experimenting” Series. I’ll be testing mostly shampoos and conditioners. 😊💜
I want to thank you for the website recommendations. Lord wiling I plan on using this for my brand.
Thank you!!!
Yaya you are amazing
Thank you! 😊💜
I love your channel
Amazing ❤❤
Thank you! 😊💜
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I think your consistency issue is caused by the temperature of the water & oil (emulsifier) phases. BTMS25 (and BTMS50) tend to create issues if the oil solution isn't added into the water solution at a hot enough temperature, or if you combine them in a cool beaker. You end up with separation, clumping, or ricing (which I could see in your video) as well as a thinner consistency, even if you use the immersion blender to gain emulsion. The best way to avoid this is to pour your oil phase into the water phase and have them both at the same temp (hot). When I make conditioner, I use this technique to prevent any separation. If you are adding ingredients that are heat sensitive, add them after you've combined your water & oil phases together and emulsified. Once you've got the emulsion, it's fine to add the other oil or water based ingredients - but while I love BTMS25, it's tricky to work with if you don't emulsify hot. Just my suggestion, you may have already figured it out. Otherwise a lovely formulation! I will try to incorporate some honey into a conditioner, it's a great idea!
i wonder if you slowly added water phase to the xanthan slurry while stirring, it might blend together better than adding the slurry to the water phase all at once
That is exactly what I did with the 50 gram batch. 😅
Great observation! This could have been the problem with the larger batch.
Hi pls can u make a leave in conditioner with manuka honey?
Great work Yaya recently I crossed you from taralee channel your channel & videos are really great & informative ❤️ and got subscribed and one great thing you mentioned where you learned that was really great really loved it subscribed your channel ❤️ really loved it 😍
Thank you so much! I am happy you like the channel. And yes, Tara is a gem to the formulating community!😊💜
When adding my water to my xanthan i stir while pouring the water. This prevents the clumping. Nice video.
Just mix it in glycerin first
Great dear
Thank you! 😊💜
Does it need to be washed out or could it be used as a beard leave in conditioner
What if i don't want to use the hair conditioner concentrate. Can i replace that with something else?
Where can i locate the essential shop im in ghana
This looks ready great, what can I use in place the conditioning concentrate
Thank you! The hair conditioning concentrate is unique to Essential Labs, so I’m not sure of an exactly replacement. However, you can use other conditioning agents like a Polyquaternium, Stearalkonium Chloride, or Behentrimonium Methosulfate. 😊💜
@@YayaDIYCreations thank you.
Can you make a leaving condition
Sure thing! 😊💜
Would you be able to make products suitable for low porosity type 4 hair? I’ve been struggling to find products that’ll work for my hair 😩
Try Khalida Natural products they work amazing on my low porosity type 4 hair.
Please followed you lm wont shampoo for dry damage hair ❤
Is this a leave in conditioner ? Pls Sister reply on this comment
Hi yaya , I love your diy, please what can I substitute for sodium phyphate , it’s not available in my country
And also the hair conditioning concentrate, any substitute for it??? @
Hi! You can try an EDTA like Tetrasodium EDTA. For the hair conditioning concentrate, it is unique to Essential Labs. However, you can use other conditioning agents like a Polyquaternium, Stearalkonium Chloride, or Behentrimonium Methosulfate. 💜💜
@@YayaDIYCreations Thanks a lot yaya . But with thesame percent right??
@@YayaDIYCreations can I use BTMS CHLORIDE, cause that’s what it’s available
I thought xanthan gum being an anionic gum will not blend with the cationic emulsfifier??
i mean i heard they are incompatible so despite loving xanthan gums, i tried to find alternative to formulate my hair gel because i was afraid the mix with the leave-in conditioner with cationci emulsifier and the hair gel with the xanthan gum will result in residues??
This could also be an oversight on my part. I know Xanthan gum does not work well with BTMS 50, so I initially had a different emulsifier. Somewhere along the way, I was testing out different emulsifiers and the BTMS 25 worked perfectly in the 50 gram batch. Once I scaled it up, the flaws started to show. Wow! Thank you for that observation. I have like 5 different samples of this conditioner with different emulsifiers. None of them have this consistency, but I will try again and share it. Thank you!! 💜💜💜
@@YayaDIYCreations When ingredients are posted, I have the habit of looking at ingredients before looking at the video. When you said that your 50 gm batch came out differently than the larger batch you were making in the video....I smiled to myself, because I knew exactly why. 😁 I'm going to try non-ionic HydroxyEthylCellulose (HEC), and see how it "contributes" to your formula. Thank you for sharing!
@@tddjimmie I am happy to share. I formulate all the time and some times the simplest solutions go over my head. 😅
I believe HEC would be a great replacement. I actually made a batch with it, but the consistency and texture was not exactly what I was looking for. I wish there was a way to force Xanthan gum and BTMS together. 🤣
@@YayaDIYCreations LOL!!
Hi,
Why do some say that Xanthan is not good for hair?
Hi! I have never heard this. Xanthan gum is widely used in hair care and skin. I would love to hear more though. 💜
@@YayaDIYCreations ok. I'm going to do more research...
I just looked up the wheat and oat conditioner base on the website and you get 1 GALLON of conditioner for 25$! I’m wondering from experience, do you feel like it has a lot of softening properties and slip without any Manuka honey? I’m sooooo tired of spending tons of money on natural hair conditioners.
You defineitly do not need the manuka honey. It has amazing softening properties and slip on its on. This, however, can be subjective depending on hair type. I used it for both my hair and my sons hair. We have different density, curl pattern, and porosity. It worked for both of us. In most cases, I start with small batches or samples to test first. Essential Labs offers sample sizes and bulk sizes. 😊💜
@@YayaDIYCreations thank you!!✨✨✨
@@user-nj2qh1pk4tAnytime 😊💜
I’ve tried all their conditioners on my curly hair and I felt like they all were drying, or not conditioning enough for me anyways. I wasn’t impressed and I spent quite a lot just to try sample sizes of all of them.
@@GG-xz7nv I’ll probably try a sample size just for the heck of it, if it works, great, if not, none lost. Thank you for sharing your experience with it!!😊
What did the mixture look like the day after? I make face masks with Hyaluronic acid, the first day it's bubbly and translucent because I use my emersion blender, the next day its thick and transparent. I said all of that to say if it sat overnight would it or did it make a difference. Thank you.
Hi! Nice observation! However, I think another commenter found the problem. I will test it out to be sure, but we believe it was the BTMS25 with the Xanthan gum. Since they have different charges, they repel each other much like water and oil. However, in the small, 50 gram batch the solution stayed uniform and stable. While the larger batch did not work out. I will do some more testing and share the results in another video. 😊💜
@@YayaDIYCreations Thank you.
Will you be selling products again?
Hi! Yes, very soon. I hope. 😊💜
Where did you learn how to formulate?
I am a home maker, so I am mostly self-taught. A lot of trial and error and of course influence from other creators. 😊💜
@@YayaDIYCreations ok.That is great dear.Keep it up😘
@@sharifahmbabazi5175 Thank you! Will try. 😊
I am in Nigeria, i also want to start up a hair care channel
Nice! Wishing you all the best. 😊💜
You should say the shelf life in every formulation cause is a lot of ingredients
It’s still in the experimental phase, so there is no way to actually know right now. Also, I always recommend you test it yourself. Don’t take my word for it. 💜💜
Do you sell your products?I want to buy from you dear
Thank you! I do not currently sell products. I will keep you all posted for the relaunch. 😊💜
Glycerin is terrible for thin, curly hair in humid weather. It makes hair break. Glycerin is like a double-edge-sword ingredient. Anyone can Google this fact. Given this, does anyone know of another ingredient that can substitute glycerin in recipes like these?
Propylene glycol or propanediol or known as a nature's silk
