I'v subscription to Air Force times, for air forced in my veterans. We buy back retired aircraft and the latest Russian fighters and aircraft from different countries. I don't doubt if we already bought a Gripen via Thailand or any third country.

Is it me only or this is the best, most aggressive fighter display that has ever been flown?😲 The Swedes (and the Hungarians and all the other countries that own the Gripen) got a mighty winner on their hands with this awesome jet, and such brave talented pilots to fly them!👏👌💪
Yes it was also one of my favorite displays, but at this show i was at a special spotter aera in the middle of the display, they circle around me
underrated which is good. let the expensive machine lovers fall in love with their underperforming machines. smart air forces will use Gripen

Impressive display! One of the best I have ever seen by the 39 Gripen and by its Pilot! Pros to the Pilot and to the awesome flying. I am seeing the Gripen every week as I live in the town were they are built, but mostly I just see them taking off and land... and that gives us just a tricky feeling.

Sweden knows how to arrange a fireworks display. A joke aside, of course, it's a nice aircraft. I think the new E version is really sharp.

Fantastic manoeuver. Thinks to Hungarian pilote and sweedesh combat aircraft JAS-39C Gripen. What is difficult, in my point of view, is the fast switching from Russian combat planes to western technology aircrafts. But it seems that Hungarian air force did it with success.
Well it was much easier than you think because Russian aircrafts had no advanced gagets therefore thoes pilots who have trained on a soviet planes considered to be the best pilots on the world. Even in the commercial sector cause when the Hungarian airlines went to bankrupt all pilots got a contract within an hour from other flight companies.

Jerker Dahlblom Trust me brother. Finland needs other plane like euro fighter for instance. Jas-39 got only one engine so its functioning distance is quite short compared to F-18 or other planes in the same generation. Jas is exellent due to its easy-to-use fame. The Swedish even claim that Jas can take off from a road. In a small area country like Hungary or country in the middle of europe it works quite well but in Finland. A large country like Finland needs a long distance plane. Thats why your government bought F-18 a few years ago.

Apparently we Swedes have no problem with either range or using a single engined aircraft since we had it sinces the 1950:s..Also funny seing the US of A who's gonna pour in 1.5 trillion dollars (Total costs) into their hypertech F-35 project settling with the same solution as the Gripen.
Gripen E compared to the Typhoon also have better range. Gripen E have a ferry range of 4000 km with full external tanks while the Typhoon got 3790km...
Gripen also work way better under the rough conditions that climate in the nordic countries represents. It only needs a team of conscripts 10 minutes to turn around a Gripen with new settings, wepaons and fuel. All that and then start on a 400m paved highway.
You do that with your Typhoon.
The Finns need a rugged easily maintained aircraft with low cost couple with high performance. They don't have the luxury if the Ruskies attacks to have airbases all over the place, they use the same tactics as us: Spread out.
And they didn't buy the Hornet a "few years ago", it's over 25 years years ago, and back then the Gripen lost because it was a new unproven system compared to the old proven F-18.
Today both the F-18 Hornet and the Super Hornet pretty obsolete.
Before that tenure the Finns flew Mig-21 and Swedish Drakens.
The Gripen E has longer range by the way. If Canada actually thinking of buying Gripen wich is way much larger country. There shouldn´t be any problem for Finland

There is now an available upgrade to model E, wich is even faster and smarter than earlier versions. It's apparently a very good upgrade to make to have if you fly aircrafts like these 😊

Back in the day when it was debated that Hungary should get either F-16s or Gripens I was kind of disappointed that we didn't get the much better known F-16s which were my favourites at the time. I basicly didn't know anything about the Saabs. Nowadays I have to admit the Gripens are much more special, interesting and the most beautiful birds currently flying.

When we talk about gripen agility, i also think f35 is an airbus. Hehe
The F35 would wipe the Gripen out before the Gripen knew that the F35 was wvwn there. That's the difference. The Gripen is an agile fighter, the F35 is an air superiority jet.
