Hey Mike, the use of thinner paint in the reflections versus thick paint in the houses was very effective. The thin paint gives that watery quality, while the thicker paint conveys solidity. Nicely done sir.
Beautiful painting, Michael! I love how you did the buildings. Always a challenge for me! I can't believe your daughter is now being used in advertisements for Walmart (one ad was on the top of my CZcams homepage)!
I really love the reflections you were able to achieve and the simplicity of the buildings. Thanks for sharing Michael! Always look forward to your videos on Sunday!
I enjoyed thinking about your references about how you learned certain things by painting in watercolor then using oils…very interesting info. I anticipated smooth brushstrokes for painting reflections in the sand but you used almost choppy brushstrokes on this one, and with amazing results. Wow! I like this painting.😊
I think we tend to get too much involved in detail. Your presentation certainly shows the value of a more impressionistic and/or semi-abstract approach.
You did a really good job on this view. i've been wondering how i would handle that composition when we've contemplated painting that on a few occasions. Can't wait to paint tomorrow!! yew!
Good one. Was wondering how you were going to paint all of the houses . Maybe a little too heavy color saturation of sky reflection in foreground but otherwise Iam liking where your going with the last paintings you’ve done !
Very good lovely sunny day. I still do my reflections like the eighties pulling down and then light "dry" strokes horizontally to create the effect. Silly question do you film your own videos while holding the phone 😮?
Your videos, seeing the process and hearing your comments from start to finish are extremely instructive and helpful. Thank you for making them.

Your videos inspire me a lot but also feel very therapeutic. Thank you
Great job on the reflections, you really nailed it. Love the lose freestyle pace you work at.

What a beautiful place to paint plain air. My son lives in San Francisco. So beautiful the light. I am here in Scotland with the dull grey skies. ☹️

Thank you Michael for another wonderful painting. I am enjoying the "suggestions" by your brushwork.
Thanks Gary!
Very nicely done .

Beautiful abstraction and feel!
- Beautiful deep chasm reflections ❤️😁
Love this painting but wish that I could also see the watercolor that you did of this same scene.
Unfortunately the watercolor is back home in Northern California.
I really, really, really like this one!

Did you make your pochade box?
Hi, which blues did you use in this one, and what kind of blues do you prefer for clear skies?
I usually use a mix of phthalo blue and titanium white to start.
Is that your voice I hear in Emma's Walmart commercial? 🤔

are any of your works for sale? thank you!
Aren’t your feet cold?
It was 75 degree and sunny!! So the answer is NO
If you had to decided between oil painting and watercoloring which one satisfies you more artistically ?
I'd choose oil if I had to decide between the two, but I love them both!
Beautiful
