The amount of accurate lore is insane and the set pieces have to be on the best I ever seen in any tv show
its not suprising since they cooperated with bethesda to make this tv show, so they took the lore from fallout games.
Big help that Jonathan Nolan is a big fallout fan so he was gonna do his absolute best to make this a faithful adaptation. Having someone super talented like Nolan onboard who is also a big fan of the series is a massive positive

We watch the complete series twice the weekend it released. This is one of the more emersive shows to come out in a while.

I grew up on the games and, for me, I think it’s way more interesting watching people who don’t know 🤷🏽♂️
Its not that the society in Fallout is less advanced, its just a different timeline. In the Fallout timeline the transistor was never discovered (the transistor makes all modern electronics possible in our version of reality,) and thus there is no digital technology....but that doesn't mean that society stop advancing, it just advanced without switching to the digital age. They have personal robots, nuclear powered cars, power armor, laser weapons, and all this other shit. The nukes were dropped by China, with whom the United States has been fighting over in Alaska and Siberia (if I remember that correctly,) using conventional weapons, like tanks and power armor and stuff. The vaults are a thing sold by a company called Vault-Tec...which has nothing whatsoever to do with that one little bunker in the beginning. Vault-Tec salesmen would go door to door in people's neighborhoods, selling spots in the local vault to the residents, where they could shelter and wait to rebuild society in the event of nuclear war. I don't know if the show will get into it at all, but Vault-Tec also had nefarious plans of its own, and would often use various vaults to conduct experiments on people.

So the Fallout universe is a “retro future” when the bombs dropped it was the year 2077. In the Fallout universe it’s the same as ours until after world war 2 then it starts to differ. The main difference was the transistor was never invented so that’s why their computers are all big and clunky because they have to use old school vacuum tubes. Also nuclear power was used in everything unlike our world. So you have fusion powered cars nuclear batteries and personal robots as butlers, doctors and maids. It’s really how the 1950’s thought the future was going to look like.
Fun fact: According to some old lore fallout nukes have less explosive force but are hella lot more radioactive. You see see multiple nukes land in the city that have one of our first nukes to flatten. That being said still nukes so but being so focused on dispensing radiation basically caused the wasteland situation as apposed to what would happen if we did that. We'd get nuclear winter mostly from the dust kicked up form the explosions of the nukes, everything gets alot colder, quick glacial expansion period, and then back to normal.
I feel like knowing for one hundred percent certainty what would happen in such a situation is simply impossible, you also have to realize that in the Fallout scenario there were SIGNIFICANTLY more bomb stockpiles due to the geopolitical situation and the US and the PRC were exchanging bomb detonations for two hours straight, two hours doesn't sound like a long time in the grand scope of things, but when we're talking about nukes, it's frankly a miracle that anything survived, we have significantly less bomb stockpiles in our own reality due to the Cold War era ending sooner, but in a similar scenario our bomb stockpiles would be comparable or bigger than what they were during the height of the Cold War, any true assessment of how damaging and catastrophic a nuclear war would be would have to take that into account, especially since in such a scenario we would be constantly making bombs that are deadlier and would be trying to 'one up' the competition like we did during the Cold War.
Our world is relatively more peaceful but frankly is getting more unstable with each passing year, as long as geopolitics remains focused on establishing dominance and humanity retains the knowledge and skill required to build WMDs of comparable or worse destructive capabilities than nukes, a scenario like Fallout always remains a possibility, even if all the details aren't exactly the same.
ppl dont realize there is actually different models made for atomic warheads since ww2. some are focused with contained explosion, some is more widespread, longer burn and such. "whats point of making various ones?" if ppl ask, whats point of making various assault rifles, handguns, grenades, hell go more ancient various blade sizes and such? to deal specific type of damage and how big/secure you want it.
What nukes aren’t that destructive it would take several to flatten an average city let alone one as big as LA
alot of ppl dont know it but there is actual various model nuclear warheads with the info online. hell there is an app with said info, pick a location anywhere, pick nuclear warhead with it tells you radiance, potential speed of explosion spread and how many ppl it will wipe out. dead serious.

@@DinkLover69 even before that first giveaway something was wrong was there is no closed captions for the video. first sign of something wasnt enabled when they uploaded it, which also means editing issues. my guess is they were trying to rush out this video. so they didnt edit it right or told their editor to rush it out.
either way if i remember right there is a runtime checkpoints per week when uploading so those 2 mins can be a problem to them if they repeat this again for other videos when rushing it.

Maximus did show bravery when he got branded. Blink and you miss it, just before the brand, one of the priest looking dudes offers Maximus a leather strap to bite on and Maximus declines. He is going to take the brand with no help. The chief Brotherhood guy sees this and seems to approve.

Those statues outside the vault are Ash statues, they are created through super heating something instantly. This has happened irl from a volcanoe (Mt Vesuvius) exploding in pompeii 2103 years ago creating these Ash statues which have been around for thousands of years, so it's totally possible for a nuke to do this after 200 years
For context every Nuke around the world went off all at once

This video is weird. Based on the comments it seems to be pausing at diffetent periods in which most people dodnt scroll forward and see it continues playing after the glitch, the weird part is the Glitch happens at differnt times .

Now you are young, to those of us growing up during The Cold War that intro is what we feared would happen- every day. But we lived our lives. When I teach my The History of The Cold War classes, I always start by showing them a five minute video of nuclear explosions with eerie music, to make your generation understand what it all was- and what you will have to get used to again with Putoloni's sabre-rattling (though he is too much of a coward to do it).
About the "Wild" cars. The game is set in an alternative timeline, where the transistor was never invented, so everything used vacuum-tubes like early computers. And thus the timeline starts diverging from ours in the year after WW2, and progress is generally much slower. But there is also no Cuban Missile Crisis, Long Island, etc, and no reckoning with its past, so the US carries on in a sort of Truman-Eisenhower Superamerica with nuclear powered cars, etc. But in the 21st century fossil fuels and other resources starts running out, and The Resource Wars starts; where Europe, Africa and The Middle East is torn apart, and China invades Alaska to get the last remaining oil resource on the planet. And in 2077... Boom.
And oh yea, the US turns authoritarian semi-Fascist, a bit like Starship Troopers.
Anyway, think of the game and series as set in a sort of retro-futuriatic post apocalypse, IE a future as imagined in the fifties, but then add a nuclear exchange of superpowers.

Worth going and looking up the intro to Fallout 1 the original PC game. They do the intro to the how and why of the war. In short, US and China go to war over the last oil reserves. China invades Alaska and the US invades back. It spirals into nuclear war. Weirdly believable. The game was made in the 90's too.
