    We’re sailin’ down the river from Liverpool,
    The wind’s set fair and our sails are full,
    We’re heading away, at break of day,
    To round Cape Horn for ‘Frisco Bay,
    Santiana was a good old man,
    ‘Til he went to war with Uncle Sam,
    When General Taylor gained the day,
    Santiana, he ran away,
    So, Heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    Heave away, Santiano,
    Heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    All on the plains of Mexico;
    Santiana, Santiana, Santiana aye-O,
    Let’s heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    All on the plains of Mexico;
    I’m gonna leave this ship,
    I’m gonna leave this ship,
    This ship;
    In Mexico I’m gonna settle down,
    I’m gonna marry that girl, sweet Sally Brown,
    There’s hoards of gold, so I’ve been told,
    We’ll be rich, before we’re old,
    So, Heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    Heave away Santiano,
    Heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    All on the plains of Mexico;
    Santiana, Santiana, Santiana aye-O,
    Let’s heave ‘er up and away we’ll go,
    All on the plains of Mexico,
    Mexico,
    Mexico;

      @@Dave.Mustaine.Is.Genius An interesting set of questions Mr Space. We have performed at many events and venues over the last few years to audiences ranging from just a few to many thousands but now, we mainly concentrate on the recording side and upload our music to the net, allowing people all over the world to hear our material if they want to. People can now purchase our music via download or listen through streaming platforms... we also have CDs available for those who enjoy a more traditional approach to buying music. As far as making money from our material goes and our thoughts on whether those revenue streams are viable going forward, your guess is as good as ours. The most fundamental and important thing about doing what we do is to keep alive these wonderful songs that drove exploration and built empires. Your respect is reciprocated to all the good people from beautiful Turkey.

      @@topgallantjack7506 thank ye a lot fer answering . I also wanna compose music in different kinds and share it; just fer the sake of art, metaphysical feelings, expressing the "human", "nature" etc... But ye know I also wanna make money out of it to dedicate more time and energy to the things that I primarily do. I hope someday I can do it just like ye guys do. Btw, I keep promoting yer band in different places. Cheers.

      Thanks Zecmyon. When we record, we like to work organically and go where the music takes us, therefore, we don't have or use sheet music for the guitar or vocal which we can pass on. We simply discuss and work out an arrangement in our heads as we go and ride the wave of creativity until we have a finished track. Glad you like our version of the song and keep listening to A Pirate's Life for more! 👍

      We always try to differ a bit from the well trodden ways of singing trad songs in a trad style... everyone does that and they always end up sounding virtually the same. Sometimes, you just have to try to be different! 👍

      Hiya and thanks for the comment. Aweigh, as in Anchors Aweigh? It's possible, in some versions I'm not familiar with, perhaps, but as the shanty was used originally at the pumps, any version containing "Aweigh" would be a later addition. And no, I've never been part of a crew on a tall ship, a galleon or a Man O'War, I've never been seen stowing sugar in a 19th century tropical port and I didn't fight with Nelson at Trafalgar but, I, along with many other people around the world, enjoy the sentiment and history of these great songs. There are many different versions of this song which transformed and mutated as they were passed on from person to person and this is simply our take on one of those versions. If you don't like it then I can live with that, each to their own. You'll never please everyone all of the time. Cést la vie!

      @@topgallantjack7506 - I'm also not quite sure how General Santa Anna ties in to a sea shanty, that originally had nothing to do with him.

    • @topgallantjack7506
      @topgallantjack7506 Před 2 lety +1

      @@fleetcenturion I don't understand why you are confused about this shanty's origins? Surely the name of the song, "Santiana", speaks for itself, doesn't it? According to Stan Hugill, Santiana (or Santianna, Santy Anno, Santiano, among other variants) was originally a pump shanty which transformed over time to become a capstan shanty. As Stan was the last of the working shantymen employed aboard working sailing vessels, I think I'll take my information from him rather than you. Thanks for your comment though.
