To me that represents how Freddie died and John left Queen, and how Brian and Roger continue on with Queen. As always, Freddie's voice is absolutely breathtaking and I find myself listening to this at least once a day. Thanks for releasing this!!!

I really like both versions of this song. Freddie sings this version absolutely beautifully, obviously (and the sound is clearer), while in the original version with Brian's vocals, it feels very personal and you can really feel his emotions about his feline friend that he was putting into the song. Both are beautiful in their own ways, in my opinion.

Indeed, Freddie's voice adds a layer. I am a bit surprised they went for Brian only in the original. Brian has a great voice for harmonies and the occasional verse, but him alone is always a bit... sober.

My cat just died. A friend of mine told me about this song. It sure helps but I know nothing will bring me feline friend back. It's so heartbreaking she was the best of me and will forever stay in my memory. While I breathe, she lives.
Miguel Oliveira Mine was with me since I was 2 :( The cat in this animation has almost the same colorings as mine. Still, I don't regret anything major, only little things like wishing I'd spent even more time with him. But all in all, he lived a long life, my family and I gave him lots of love. 100% worth it in the end, and I would do it all again after some time has passed.
I'm so sorry. I feel the same way while she lived I treated her the best I could because I knew deep down she had a shorter lifespawn than a human and she was separated from her mother after birth to cheer up a little fella at the time - a being treated as a commodity... ughhh.
However, when she needed the most I wasnt there. The day before she died she didnt come home as usual, but I had just finished my 2 weeks of exams, I was so happy and relieved. Latter that night, she still wasnt home and I remember my dad telling me to go look for her, which I didnt. Next morning she was found dead right in front of my garden door souped in blood with her eyes open like she was asking for help. I know it's not my fault but still I can't stop thinking what if I went looking for her, would she still be alive?

Brian doesn't believe that Freddie is dead. He said that during Made In Heaven season it was hard for them because they could hear Freddie's voice from the speaker and it felt like he was in the other room singing. In 2000's he also said that he still feels like Freddie is around like an old family. I also do not believe that Freddie is dead and John left Queen

This is most likely because Freddie’s version was an earlier version of the song and Brian had developed the song more since Freddie did his take on the song.
Freddie's singing is superior (obviously) but I much prefer Brian's version because it feels much more personal and melancholic (since the song is about his own childhood cat)
I don't doubt Brian considered Freddie's lyrical intro - Freddie by this stage had had a few cats himself. But the song is about Bri's cat. Hence the version we heard and loved for so long. But this intro gives me goosebumps. Everytime.

Freddie's vocals are filled with the power and feelings that he passed. All the songs that he sings with his soul and reach the mood of the listener very well. Love Freddie, I miss u.
I do love how at first you see the 4 birds (Mercury, Deacon, May, and Taylor), but at the end it only has two birds (May and Taylor) with the words: "All Dead" (Freddie Mercury), and "And Gone" (John Deacon) symbolising what happened to the band. Although those were the lyrics back in 1977 and were about a cat then, now the lyrics are about the loss of Freddie and John which is just something else.
Just in case anyone didn't know this song really was about Brian's cat, as featured in the video. So sweet.
If you read the book "Queen in 3D" it's not about Brian's cat. It's about a lost love. In this video the Robot is (semi)dead, not the cat. The cat represents the person who remembers "the old days". You have to look up the mythological references to understand who the Robot is, beyond the science fiction.

I like this version a lot more than the News Of The World version with Brian May. It's not that I don't think he sung and wrote that song phenomenally which he did, but it is because I think that this is Freddie's kind of song. Mellow and moving with his wonderful soft voice and having a greater and symbolic meaning. I know this song's about Brian May's cat but after Freddie's death, when you listen to this song you started to feel as if he already knew he was gonna die soon and by soon I mean 14 years later. It's like he is acknowledging the fact that in time death comes to everyone, even him. We don't believe he is dead and gone, we know he is dead but that he is never gone! This song is a perfect song for Freddie because it seems as though that he is officially coming to terms that in time, death does come to everyone and even when it comes to him only a little over a decade after he sung this, that he would always be "All Dead" but he would never be "All Gone".
