Very useful video. I was rather shocked to see how much sealant he put on the water pump! 99% of that was squished out; half outside, half inside the pump housing!
Eine sehr gute Beschreibung! Bei unserem Fiat 500 312 1,2 69PS habe ich nun -auch dank dieses Tutorials- den ersten Zahnriemen meines Lebens eingebaut. Was mir aber dringend gefehlt hat, ist der Hinweis darauf, dass die Zahnriemen-Spannrolle mit einer Segering Zange mit richtig viel Kraft gespannt werden muss. Mit der benannten Original Zange ist das fast nicht möglich. Ich habe mir eine Zange mit langen Griff gekauft und diese mit der Flex zurecht geschliffen, denn die Mutter zum Feststellen der Spannrolle kann man nur drehen, wenn die Segering Zange an den entsprechenden Stellen flachgeschliffen worden ist, ansonsten würde die Mutter der Spannrolle beim festdrehen die Segering Zange wegheben. Das ist richtig kompliziert! Und vor allem überlebenswichtig für den Motor. Übrigens: Meine Wasserpumpe hatte eine Dichtung dabei. Somit habe ich den Klebebatz nicht machen müssen.
Reicht eine Papierdichtung aus?

Das war mal eine ausführliche und gut erklärte anleitung. Der 1.2 Panda von meiner Freundin braucht auch mal wieder einen neuen Zahnriemen. Allerdings werde ich den Motor wohl so wie wir es immer in der Werkstatt gemacht haben mit nem Wagenheber abstützen.

+Liviu Roman Hallo Roman, geht im Prinzip, aber die Ölwanne trägt nicht und das Getriebe sitzt an der anderen Seit des Motors. Es ist also nicht einfach den Motor von unten zu unterbauen. Es kommt dazu, dass man von unten arbeiten muss, sprich die Grube offen bleiben muss. Auch Ford benutzt eine spezielle Motoraufhängung für diese Arbeit. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

Ich will auch bei nem Fiat 500 dem Zahnriemen wechseln, bloß mir ist aufgefallen, dass das entlüftungventil vom Schlauch der zum Wärmetauscher führt abgebrochen ist. Wie soll ich vorgehen, wenn ich da nicht entlüften kann? Ist es schlimm ? Könnte ich den Zahnriemensatz trotzdem wechseln wenn ich nur den kühler entlüfte? Mit freundlichen Grüßen

A very useful tutorial. Thank you! I did not use a special tool, just a 15 mm ring wrench to loosen the bolts of the engine strut. May I ask what type/brand of kit you used for the water pump (silicon-type?)

Bei diesen Motoren wird der Zahnriemen bei Kolbenmittelstellung mit Nockenwellenlineal gemacht. Spannrolle auch falsch gespannt, erst bis auf Anschlag dann Motor 2xdurchdrehen dann kann erst korrekt eingestellt werden.
Hallo, Lineal ist überflüssig, wie man im Video sieht. Für die Benutzung des Lineals müsste man die Ventilkammer öffnen und neu abdichten. Spannung wurde genau wie in Deinem Kommentar gefordert eingestellt. Viele Grüße, Jürgen
Papierfochtung hält bei mir schon ewig. Habe mir extra eine Wapu mit Papierdichtung bestellt gehabt. Viel Spaß, ist aufwändig, aber der Erfolg krönt die Arbeit. Habe das schon zweimal repariert, beim 500 und beim Panda. Beide laufen noch wie geschmiert.
Also hattest du nur die Papierdichtung dran? Ohne Hylomar etc?

Hallo Jürgen, tolles Video, ich soll morgen beim Fiat 500 den Zahnriemen wechseln, muss da nicht die Kurbelwelle und Nockenwelle festgesetzt werden?
Nice video, but a bit too over the top with the silicone half that amount would have done it the water pump will have been flooded with silicone which will block up the water radiator system!!!.
Also you dont need to hang the engine on a bar, just pop your jack under neat the engine easey and quicker.
I've never done the support beam thing, it just looks in the way. If I was doing this in doors, I would just take the whole engine and subframe as one out of the bottom - it's a lot to remove, but it would take a fraction of the time and saves messing with bolts in 2 inches of space (although there's a lot of space on the Panda) .

Super erklärt. Nur das mit der Zähnezahl ist mit Vorsicht zu nehmen. Die Fire Maschine gab es beim 8V mit zwei verschiedener Anzahl an Zähnen. 108 und 129 Zähnen gesamt.

Hi ! nice video. Why did you not just put an extra jack with some rubbercuschion under the engine instead of the complicated "bridge" to hold the engine . I always do that when i change the timingbelt on my renault .The mototmount its similar to Fiat and Ford Ka. Regards. Bjorn.
Probably because there is an inspection pit right underneath the engine. :)
The car structure is the same as Fiat Panda 169 from 2004. The engine mount bolts end-on into the engine block need a socket to loosen without damage. I used a large timber to lever the engine away from the inner wheel arch.
For anyone attempting this, just get yourself a timing kit, they're like £25 and then you definitely know you got the timing right, also when putting the belt on, the camshaft pulley has a bit of play in one direction, you need to use this play when putting the belt on otherwise one side of the belt will be tighter than the other as you'll be out of time by 1 tooth. The timing tools make this really easy as they hold everything at tdc, also when taking off the water pump don't be afraid to smack it on the pulley part with a hammer to remove it. When using the timing kit you will end up taking off the rocker cover, get a new gasket and put some instant gasket in the groove where the rubber gasket will go in the cover, make sure the bead of instant gasket is thin and against the outside of the groove, when tightening the bolts down do a cross pattern and do them wrist tight by holding the head of your ratchet (or use a torque wrench that can be set to 10nm), also be prepared to jack the engine up and down with a block of wood between the jack and the sump to get to things once the mount is off, whilst you're there you may as well also replace your aux belt tensioner and aux belt if they haven't been replaced too. Hope this helps

A 3/8s drive ratchet and 15mm socket is fine for the engine mount to block bolts plus take the rocker cover off there's a locking slot in the cam for the timing tools so no guess work
Ah! i wonderered why the Haynes manual says to take the rocker cover off, this is the reason.

jokes aside excellent video, a small tip 1/2 ratchet wont fit for the motor mounts you need a 3/8 with a shallow; 15mm; very tight space! also it is very important to check the tensioner after tightening, The action of tightening the nut loosens the tensioner unless you hold it in position at the same time.
After doing this timing belt i will never buy a Fiat my old Honda was a breeze and left a far better impression, even my Defender is better thought out.
car runs better than new as the timing was off from the factory!

Is an engine light on or flashing? It may be a phonic wheel adaption - drive your car down the motorway, get it to operating temp, rev to 5000rpm and let it drop to idle, do this three times - the light will go out. I just did this after I accidentally reset the phonic wheel in a diagnostic check. :)

irina25661 at the minute 11:11 the engine is in phase? Because the locking tool OE 2000004500 for crankshaft to crankshaft pulley don't fit.

Fabio 2345 At 11:11 the old belt is still mounted, thus timing is still in phase. And the new belt is mounted in the same relation. At this type of engine, the timing is not changing when tensioning the belt. At the V6 from Audi it is different. Watch the video for the Audi and you see, why I need the speciallocking tools there.
