    I am not learning Polish, but instead Czech, and unfortunately there aren't as many resources to do so online like there are for Polish. However I can sometimes apply what I hear about Polish to Czech. So thank you for your very clear and thoughtful explanation of pronoun changes. I've never seen it explained like this. Amazing job!

      there are some patterns, which may help you distinguish the gender of the noun. In one sentence - In most cases masculine nouns end with a consonant, feminine with 'a' and neutral with 'o'. There are exceptions of course, but still, many nouns follow this rule :)

    Jarek, great video, great quality stuff! I have a question. Female plural personal/impersonal do not exist?

    • @courseofpolish
      @courseofpolish  Před 6 lety

      The distincion between personal and impersonal nouns is made only to help explain the grammar. In reality you can divide nouns in many ways. It is up to you. I guess different books will show you different distincions. There are no specific rules, which you have to follow. Language is something alive and linguistics and scientists only try to do their best to find some rules, explanations and patterns in the language. So, if you want, you can create two artificial groups: female plural personal (eg. kobiety) and female plural impersonal (eg. książki) but does it have sense here? :) The endings are the same ;)

    Dude, you are absolutely awesome! No doubt!
    But, maybe you bother making also a "training" video for each such theory?
    Cus training alone it is so easy to get messed up and confused.
    We could take some popular words like car, house, phone, mb some more (depending on how much time it takes for you)
    It is just more chance to get this information correctly up in the head if someone who knows what he is doing guids you through the first tries.

    Dzień dobry.
    Ja uczę się teraz języka polskiego.
    Mieszkam w Afryce i mam nauczyciela tutaj.
    Anyway, my biggest problem is not remembering a noun's gender, but knowing which case to use.
    At 3:50 you say that the verb widzieć needs przypadek Biernik.
    But why? Which other (types of) verbs "need" Biernik and why?
    I understand that Mianownik answers "kto and co" and that Biernik answers "kogo and co", but how do you know that it's "co" from Biernik and not "co" from Mianownik?
    Hope you can assist me.
    Dziękuję.

    • @courseofpolish
      @courseofpolish  Před 4 lety

      Hi Manus. Each case has some specific use cases, so sometimes you can guess which case should be used after a verb. Unfortunately very often you just have to learn it by heart. There are no strict rules. Even for Polish people, the cases are sometimes hard and we do mistakes. Especially with Genitive and Accusative Cases, because both have the same question "kogo". I've created for you a table with verbs and example sentences on my website. You can check it here courseofpolish.com/grammar/cases/cases-after-verbs/list-of-verbs It's not very extensive, but better than nothing :D You can also find articles about cases usage on the website.

    • @courseofpolish
      @courseofpolish  Před 5 lety +1

      English is strange here and allows to use "this" in both sentences. "to = it/this" and "ten = the/this"
