The seats are e30 BMW sports seats, worth decent money in nice condition
Came here to say this, definitely the right audience around here for this channel lol
" It's relatively un-molested." Did I hear that right. ? Almost lost my India Oven...😂
Yeah I mean all they did was cut it in half, plaster it with fiberglass and weld in shed siding. Practically untouched!
This brings me back to my tow truck days. Some guy had a 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am converted into a limo. I had to tow this hot mess but before I hooked it up to my tow truck I had them sign a liability contract that I am not responsible for anything is something happens. I also told them that this thing will fold in half as soon as I pick it up. They were assured by the body shop that created this mess that it was stretched the right way and had all steel rockers and plates in the floor. Well as soon as I picked up the front end it folded in half. The rockers were made out of wooden 1x3 planks hidden in body filler. The roof sagged right in the middle even before I picked it up. There was zero plates in the floor holding it together. I tried to warn them that this was not a safe car and had no business even being on the road. What is the sad part is the owner paid the body shop $33.000 Canadian for the unsafe car. I am glad it folded in half on the back of my truck and not under its own power killing how many people on the highway.
I would refabricate the rockers with heavier gauge steel ( you could also run tubing inside of them) the body kit can cover and hide all the work.
Replace the homade floor section with a new factory pan, and make a hoop hidden in the centre section with it all tied in together.
I agree 100percent
Doesn't the piping for the heater run inside the rocker panels?
Which factory makes floor pan for a stretched Porsche?
"I'm not gonna put a WRX Subaru motor back here, I just can't do that." I'm literally putting a Subaru 3.6 in my '77 Targa🤣🤣
This vs jared pinks honda rousey limo would be a cool show down
That's a great idea
Don't see Jared limo ever being resurrected
@@anthonyslazas6413 I have faith in Jared, now if Tavarish owned the limo it would scrap.
@@KellysCanoeing I have faith in Jared, it's the car that worries me.
@@anthonyslazas6413 agreed neither are my dream car.
The ‘74 front end is so they could used the shorter ‘74 and later hood and hood latch for the 959 kit.
An internet legend and a Porsche limo 😂
I would weld pipes inside sills front to back to stiffen it. You can build your cage starting from it. You are not going to use original way of heating in this any way.
This has been discussed. It's a tempting idea.
Please put a protective "scrape" plate over the transmission number to preserve it. Silly request, I know, but you probably have it laying in a scrap pile.
Looks like pacific blue, gorgeous colour on an SC targa. Not a massive Porsche fan but had to sub for this.
Would the engine from a Boxster (986) work in it??
It's both modern enough and yet old enough for this project to be cheap and readily available.
The #2904 is a sign from Brock that the tradition needs reborn!
I got a feeling the reason they blocked in the front targa was because of chassis flex.
I'm assuming they sheeted in the front targa top for rigity reasons, especially if it was going around a track, even minimally
Love this car and the whole idea of it. You will do this car justice...
Tavarish just took a 911 motor out of a car, might be worth asking him if he needs a home for it
Interesting. I love the beautiful 928's in the background. I really hope that this limo is rebuilt much better than it was. Looks like it's in good hands. Thank you.
Just amazing. Thank you for all the content you’ve provided.
What as awesome machine. I’d like to see it restored, wrap and all.
The Rothman’s livery would be cool but my vote is recreating the original Kirin livery
I think that it would be VERY COOL, if you end up re-doing the stretch, if you made it longer by the amount of a full length of the front doors and if you could make it work...flip the back doors to the opposit side and have coach/suicide doors on the back, then you might be big enough to have 4 conference style seats in the back which would make it more limo like as a 6-8 seater.
Hi John 👋 I've been patiently waiting for this.
Thanks for your patience!
If you do cage it keep the targa sections open. Please do put back on the road, wall art a replica
Maybe, if there's no other way than building a cage, it can be built so that upper tubes run side by side in the middle of the car, creating kinda T-Top look. Otherwise, tubes running near where the top of the windows are would look just awful.
Lady Liberty you got from Baron belongs on the backseat when you finish this thing up and present it.
Cool vid! I look forward to seeing it being done,
This is awesome. Please keep us updated. I love this build.
I’m so excited to see the results for this project 🤩
I am sure you could strip to body shell and make space frame under it , its how much time and money do you want put into it ? To make it safe and run ! but amazing project love the rothmans livery idea would look lush with 4 spotlight on the nose
This thing is begging for a Whittington brothers race livery if you ask me
That metal used to stretch it looks like the roof of a van.
It's like a Grass valley CSI mystery. I don't know how many times I emailed my friends this car and had it emailed to me as well. Can't wait to see what the end results are.
LOVE IT! Whateva ya wanna do, is good. Ya ask for ideas, so here goes:
Keep it air cooled 6; late gen, N/A & EFI. It's simple
Run cage thru midsection & do a T-Top; rather than a full Targa. Heaps more rigidity and no cage; at the door entry
2904! It is a sign!!
21:44 damn! this was always going to be yours, i guess.. that is trippy!
I think it would be really sick to make it a slant nose, I realize then it wouldnt be like Rocky had it but the front end doesnt really look like a 959 to me anyway so a Slant Nose conversion would be sick.
saw it in Rocklin on a car carrier. Thought “that’s weird”
I love this history of cannonball 😊
What an interesting project.
U need to fix this beast up she needs love and you are the right person to get it or give it .
If not an LS...maybe a Subaru H6, Boxter 6, Audi V10, VW 5L TDI V10?
Maybe get Benihana sponsorship great promo tool for them
You bought a challenge, it's not going to be easy to put back together, almost Freddie like 😀
Wonder if a Cayenne V8 would be feasible.
Love This!!!!!
Good luck with that hot mess! I’m excited to see the progress.
Can’t wait to see what the limo experts and fabricators say about making it safe and strong. Besides “run away”. I think this is a super interesting project! The engine needs to be beefy, can’t wait to see this unfold
Put a 928 V8 in it 🤣🚀❤️
Man John I wish I could show you this SRT MAGNUM that this guy put a RR front end on it and he put these weird suicide doors on it then left the wagon back part on it .
I would remove the floor pan they added look at the stretch job closer and see how it can be improved.
Those wheels are epically cool!
Gotti 3 piece I think
I'd remove the steel bar though, out of safety considerations. Can preserve it maybe.
I wonder if the front clip donor was also the center section, second targa donor
Looking forward as to where this goes
Interesting video. Looking forward to seeing the inside with the interior out. The 959 tail looks out of place on that car. The whale tail would be better, in my opinion.
I've googled sunrise autobody in CA be nice if the company that did the stretch still existsq
“Relatively unmolested” is what I did not think I would hear about this.
got to have a porsche engine.. loads of power to
Make Big Daddy proud...i would say purple or gold, crazy metalflake,...oldskool insanity is dissappearing. But it only takes a few people to revive the weird,i think. Preserving history is great...making a great new creation is better. The Baron would approve✌️😁🥳🌴I know you want it...you are buying these crazy things for a reason. And i dont think its money😉. Ps.visiting a purist Porsche meeting is gonna be fun with this!!
I thought I heard you mention that you didn't think this was made by a limo company, but I remember reading it was an Ultra Limo from Vini Bergeman?
I remember an Austin Healey in the Belleville lot and the police cars I forget the movie.
I was worried when it was discussed to cannonball it and where was I going to get and sort out a limo. But now seeing this not so worried I have plenty of time lol.
The prime example of can't see it from my house. But glad to see it.
"We have the technology to rebuild it. I want it done no matter the cost!"
Indeed BMW E30 leather bucket sport seats worth some money 💰
The Ed Bolin Special 😂😂😂
More Freddy special than ED my opinion
Nice
I would keep the build wild and resto mod it..maybe put a turbo s awd
Crazy car needs z crazy dreamer to get it right again...or maybe the first time it will be right.
Those Gottis have to be pretty high dollar items. Ended up watching bits of the earlier video just because of the wheels and now this, again, to see the wheels.
The back floor pan looks more like wood than metal, probably the camera 😀
So the front car is a long hood 73! Wonder what the back half is?
Go Rothmans!!
Love watching your videos and your vinwiki cant wait for more limo content !!! Need to definitely do it Dakar style !!!!
More to come!
Car could end up being pretty cool. Take a lot of time n patience, but worth to save it.
2904 . Unreal
Air-ride and 959 style wheels. 959 style headlights.
Yes on the Rothmans idea!
It needs a turbo rotary for power!
PS2: Rothmans YESSSS!!!!
Its relatively unmolested?
It would make the blind flinch!
Condition: Ed approves.
Twin Turbo Twin Targa! lol
Benihana has to live on it somewhere if it comes back from the dead
I have a set of those wheels tires are too expensive for the rear.
Rothmans livery and lifted! :)
If you can’t keep it a limo I would love to see you put it back to a two door. And then turn the stretched portion into a period correct wet bar for your shop or maybe a small tow behind travel bar for RADwood (that way if it can’t be a “structural” part of the car it can still be a indispensable piece of its history and story).
Maybe some marbleized mirrors, dark wood fold out bar with vinyl padded armrest, some of the artwork on display, maybe a custom mixtape playing in a period correct head unit or videos from the VCR.
Really, the kind of place where a red crushed velvet smoking jacket or a Miami Vice rolled sleeve wouldn’t look too out of place. Maybe even show your moves with some Tom Cruise Cocktail bottle tricks….lol
I look forward to seeing the progress in whatever form Sir! Thank you for taking the time to share.
The best idea yet, but could you be a bit more specific please?
@@jonlyons1033 lol now now, I wouldn’t want to be pedantic, just brief overview will work for now 😉🙃
John, you bought this?
i want the wheels and seats for a vw fastback im building please seriously please
Engine ideas, late model VW diesel Tdi, Grind hard plumbing swapped one into a Westfalia from Boxeer who make conversion kit/mounts. Or maybe a Porsche V8 out of the Cayenne?
'This all Gotti go.'
I think my main take away from this video was "caulk" and the bawls you have for standing underneath it.
O.G Panamera
You could LS swap it.... or if you really wanna get funky.... 928 V8 swap it.
I wish a 928 V8 would fit! I might have a few laying around...
Everybody Wang Chung 2Nite🤙🏁
Get a Subaru H6 3.6R from a Legacy way cheaper to build than a Porsche motor
Jaguar V12 is obviously the correct power plant.
1:39 have we looked at it? No
20:40 we looked at this earlier
Exo cage it! Make a safari Porsche limo, since that's the only way it can be more ridiculous. And it would preserve interior space.
Looking forward to see what you do with this.
The Fake Dakar Livery idea is Perfect
Engine? What engine? (I recognized this vid-clip was the better place to put this idea) Put in one of the many V8 Porsche 928 engines You store in Your driveway with all those 928s surrounding 'em ...
