    That looked like an enjoyable experience. The fragrance must’ve been fantastic.
    My Grandpa used to dig up the sassafras roots and taught us how to make tea with them which tasted and smelled like root beer. Great memory.

    You can use a protractor or sliding T bevel to help drill angled holes in wood.

    I've made one of these but I use some power tools especially for drilling. The only difference was I used some leather and some chain at the back of the angled board instead of making it stationary so you can adjust the height and angle of your working surface.

    Nice work! Only handtools and raw wood, love it. Maybe i'll copy that. I think for me it would be a little bit too high. Working with 90 degree elbows is not my favourite. Thank you! Greetings Gerrit

      @@BecomeaWoodcraftingWizard I would've never guessed. Seems like if it's not perfectly symmetrical, that over time it would develop a wobble, and start falling apart. Just goes to show what happens when I assume things. I need one of these very soon. Looking forward to getting through all these surgeries, and healing, so I can get back to working on projects again. 😁

    I had the pleasure of finding a large sassafras and obtained a log big enough to build custom front door for my house.
    Too bad it's not more readily obtained, it works wonderfully.

      It only has three legs because it's hard to find a spot where the ground is flat enough that all the legs on a four legged bench could reach the ground at once.

      Three legs is more stable on uneven ground. 4 will always rock.

      The mallet was free and is as heavy as a sledge. It also does less damage to what I hit with it.
