  • I think I look at the TPM role as owning when something is going to get done. In my mental model, there’s a product manager, and the product manager is the owner of what the team is going to do.
    So, they’re looking at what the customer needs, what the team is shooting for, what is its goal. The software development manager owns the details of how we’re going to do it, the final analysis of how this is going to be built. The TPM sits in the middle and is translating both the ‘what are we going to do’ into the top-level technical plan and then specifically, the win.
