If they're subscribed to this channel, that's a green flag. I'm not even joking/patronizing.
Please don’t ever quit putting out content.
Please do a live stream of the OpenAI presentation.
I second this request. Much more fun to watch along with Dave and this awesome community.
Thirded
Yeah that'd be awesome
Yes that would be awesome.
Would ❤
“Just wait 6 months” is so true.
He said that 6 months ago. And 6 months before that.
The new "just wait" moment will be easy to use AI agents
I was just thinking about this a few days ago. Like - companies need Ai, but there is so much AI out there and evolving so fast... they need someone to look into this internally and specifically to their needs.
Great vid as always!
It's s true. This channel and Wes Roth led me to start messing with the LLMs in the first place. Realized we had Copilot at work being in the Microsoft ecosystem. Saved some time using it for customer responses when our service rep was out. Now they're letting me test with OCR to extract data from our pdf invoices. Now I'm working on generating production planning per part number. It can be amazing for small-mid sized businesses to hit a factor above where they should be if they had to carry the same administrative load as bigger companies.
My role is chief engineer and automation lead of a large company. I've done alot of the things you've suggested for engineering and automation initiatives and have been very keen to go all in on AI. This advise is super encouraging. I'm not as technical as I've been in the past, certainly never been an AI researcher, but the tech leadership I can certainly get behind. Really appreciate this video, it's helped light a fire in me to push more in to a CAIO role as I've been wanting to.
$800-900k a year for an AI expert? If 10 employees are fired to be able to pay that salary, this is how AI leads to a situation where there are few highly paid guys and the rest are unemployed.
exactly, that's the future I foresee happening
a really dystopian future
3M salary for an Ai expert. In the next 10 year save this comment
For a while yet the replacements are likely to be in the “task” space rather than the “job” space, but not entirely. I know it’s an “edge case” but I was watching a guy restore some old machinery the other day with all the trying something, backing up, trying something else, looking at the problem from various angles, etc, and the physicality/dexterity that was needed and one of my thoughts was, AI/robots are unlikely to be able to replace what this guy is doing anywhere in the foreseeable future. I think there will be many opportunities to apply the principles of what this guy was doing in his particular job to other jobs (from the problem solving perspective). If the job is just a routine, repeat the same thing over and over, it will probably go, but there will be scope in many, many jobs for human input and contribution. What we really need to do as a society is ensure that there is a safety net for all those who are unable to change or are unable to re-skill themselves, or, fundamentally where that higher level capability is not a full time job any more.
Whenever there is a scenario where it can be described as, 'AI/robots cannot ', always add "yet" to the end.
Instructional designers are an excellent fit for these types of roles. They understand learning and development of humans and also understand learning models that many neural networks use. Also they usually work in learning and org development and/or talent development departments in HR. They are also trained to understand the learning gaps for business needs.Their jobs are tech adjacent and many are front end devs who use Gen AI.
So uh. What if an AI takes the CAIO job?
"Just wait."
Yes, 1-2 years away probably 😂
I was thinking the EXACT same thing
What are your personal expectations/ predictions for todays OpenAI event and googles event tomorrow?
Great resolution man 🎞️
long time DSS here (Dave Sharp STAN), this might just be one of those videos that changes my life. I'm currently volunteering to train my entire company on AI (image generation for now) simply because I eat/sleep/dream AI. I might be that story of the guy they find internally that grows into a CAIO (hopefully). Keep up the great work!
Let's get it done!
Your CTO is your CAIO. I'm not sure splitting it in to a seperate position is wise. Call a CTO a CAIO, and have your technology stack and personnel pivot to a AI focus, sure.
Because most CTOs are not equipped with the ability to pivot to ai and maintain current systems and training until systems are implemented. Also, if they deal with sensitive information there will be other issues...if there is a CTO, there needs to be a director of AI AND manager of AI AND some kind of AI project manager for the short term getting the tech up to speed.
I work for local government in the UK. There is tons of areas over-ripe for automation with excel macros let alone agents. I wonder if the strategies for integration are the same for public services as they are for private business?
hello David, love your videos. keep making 'em. I always watch your videos and love them all, thank you for doing a deep research and provide your view and input. Thanks!
through the use of natural language any office employee can become his own caio.
Thanks from heart. Every word is invaluable
What do you think of Alphafold 3? A big step towards simulated biology and LEV?
This man only understands hype, not science
Normalcy bias is wild. Even when you actively take steps to mitigate it, it's a daily practice.
The Empathy Encore: So, what’s the deal with AI and empathy? AI’s nailing the imitation game, but when it comes to the soul-stirring stuff, humans are the OGs. As we buddy up with bots, keeping it real with empathy is the secret sauce to a tech-tastic future.
It cant get feelings because of morality. Look how peoples empathy is often based on their own biases.
@@infiniteabundant1176 True, how feelings and morals can get tangled up is tricky. People's empathy sometimes has a mind of its own, depending on what they believe.
@@infiniteabundant1176 some humans has cero to Non empathy ( psycopaths )
Fire Equality officers and hire AI officers. Doesn’t even have to cost any more money.
"Caio" sounds like the first name of "Caio Giulio Cesare", while "ciao" is the colloquial way of saying "HI" in italian. Fun fact, it comes from old Venetian "Sciao", meaning "slave", which sounded like "I'm your slave, sir". Ciao from Italy
Using AI is already fully integrated into my work. Tasks that used to take me 2-3 hours now only take 30-45 minutes. I keep saying, "Hey, just write a prompt," but my coworkers just shake their heads in disbelief, thinking I'm cheating. This message was spellchecked using GPT-4o
Being one that eats, breathes and sleeps AI. This resonates.
had no idea! well, nice 2 know! Hmm! sopping this up! yup! great AI scape model.. Observation & recognize is the key I use, in all these steps.
this is also a great place for AI agents to be working.. the future is just the future! I just hate people in developed Countries don't have a better Economy than this!! yup! it's harder to ''help'' people learn & grow towards a new future!! breaks my heart! it's so fun to bounce around to see how Companies structure CS & AI.. good luck David! super rap up ! thanks!
Patiently waiting for your impression of 4o.
Yes David agree with you! We need to get onboard now. Deployed an AI life coach, but people are resisting, but some are embracing him! This is fascinating and I love what AI can offer now, just thinking what’s it’s going to offer in 5 years time. Also letting people access for free as believe that it’s so useful for people to use and process their own lives and believe in access for all people and their should be no barriers to access the technology! Thanks David loving your content!
Great video! Love the outside walks but prefer the wider angle with the background in focus. The closeup give me motion sickness :/
Great video thanks for the content could you point me in the direction of a good certification or course for prompt engineering
love the end notes here. i still dunno what i want to build. nor am i sure what should be considered a waste of time and not XD
thx for forest walk, good time! XD
Great and important video.
"CAIO"
Ironically it's likely the last executive role that will exist
Hello Mr Shapiro I'm a long-time fan of your show. I'm really interested in your take on AI, especially with the new GPT-4.0. Also, with 60% of men under 30 being single or not dating, I'm curious about the future of relationships and how AI might play a role. Looking forward to your insights!
"Chief A.I.O." should work 👍
I can envision how AI could be of help to psychotherapists (and their patients) in the mental health space. Modules could be used in the assessment phase, developing treatment plans, and between sessions to address problem areas and then process the experience in session with the therapist (did you feel less anxious/depressed after following the module? How so or how not?). Of course, AI is already being "experimented with" clinical notes, but rules around informed consent and confidentiality will have to be developed. I can foresee where simpler problems (i.e. how can I stop smoking? or lose weight?) could be totally devoted to AI with human follow-up, but rules and regulations around the licensing and whose responsibility to perform these functions will need to be addressed. As far as overcoming resistance to AI usage, this may be where some of your ideas on employee co-ownership come into play. If the firm is able to move towards employee co-ownership, it empowers workers to have a say in the deployment of AI as well as tapping into innovation within the firm in ways not previously discussed.
I want to do this job.
I have no idea how to get myself in anywhere, I have no formal education past highschool.
I am however obsessed with AI and always tinkering with it since characterai was a new website
I can't look away from AI and it occupies all of my thoughts but idk how to make myself commercially viable for it.
David - can you suggest a feature to Gemini or other Ais - I would like the voice to read where I select a text from the response. Currently, the voice is not useful for longer responses.
I would like to hear only some passages not from top to bottom without any control. If the suggestion comes from you they might implement it.
When is the next Q&A? This was a great episode but now I have a lot of questions. I don’t know anyone who pays more attention to this stuff than me and some people get mad at me for talking about it too much.
Hey David, which voice to text tool did u use while speaking with AI models on mobile? I remember u said its an app outside of the models themselves
Built in on Android
I'm waiting for Suno AI to get over the two minutes song initial cap.
My skepticism regarding AI is based upon trying to use it, but then again I was never curious enough to burn a lot of money experimenting.
Interesting. I am not from the ai field (I am from health optimization), but aim for chief scientific officer role, and are looking into info like this
Robo-Feels and Silicon Sincerity: The empathy chat’s getting wild, with robots joining the party. But can a bot really get the warm fuzzies? That’s the million-dollar question. In the world of care and connection, AI’s still sitting at the kiddie table.
I would like to ask you guys if you think coursera courses and the likes about ai will add value to a non IT career?
has it been 18 months yet? wen AGI?
Which career my soon should go for ? Construction ( steelframing wood framing school ?) or Ai development ( computer science , Math degree)
hi, I'm am here a master already in generative AI and software engineer for 14 years ❤
I’m worried that it’s too late for me to get very far in this field now that things are progressing so quickly. I just finished my second semester of college towards my degree in IT-AI. By the time school ends the AI will have the jobs I wanted.
make ai hypnotize people into learning things that might replace the meaning that they get from thiere work
When it comes to building this internal AI jobs, what if a person has the personality of the AI motivation, but not a leader? Meaning, a person who finds purpose in the design side or product building part of work?
The primary metric for success of a Chief AI Officer is this: they use AI to eliminate their own job, and that of all other Chief AI Officers, as quickly as possible. A truly great Chief AI Officer would offer this as a service, obviating the need for companies to hire anyone for the position.
What kind of AI talent do you need to have in order to get high paying gigs in it?
Experience for the highest paying ones
If I want to be a CAIO what should I study?
CAIO would be pronounced "K-O", as in the knock out punch for replaceable employees
@daveshap this video helped me realize something and I would love your thoughts on the idea. As AI is integrated everywhere and the glut of AI consumes work environments (the AI everything bubble before all work is replaced), I believe there might be a new position or experience needed for businesses that want to evolve in a post AI world. This would be a Meaning Consultant. A person to come in and evolve a company is processes to include meaningful products or services that can survive the AI revolution. Basically someone who is prolific in your meaning economy. Someone who can shape a company's future to something more meaningful and AI resistant. Thoughts?
Sounds like the perfect Job that I would love to get hired for.. Now I hope, that CEO's, CHRO's and CTO's are scrolling through the comments. 😏🙋🏻♂️
@daveshap Regarding the fear and reluctance mentioned at 12:30 Salim Ismail has some interesting discussion on what he terms the "immune system response" in his recent (excellent) conversation on Impact Theory.
What ic the CAIO is said with a K for example Kayo
That whats in it for me problem when you first training the AI and then AI takes your job, should be solved at the Governement level or else it will be ugly 😅
I was thinking about this, there should be ownership of shares of replacement you trained. Then you will have alignment of incentives. Otherwise people will not teach.
@@EduardsRuzga You mean shares = money or ? 🙌🤗🤔
@@Jeppe4421 I was thinking about a product where experts create their digital clones to scale themselves up. But why would they want to do that if they end up without a job? They need to own stock options of a resulting "clone" so that they are incentivised to do that. They need to "own" their clones in some way.
@@EduardsRuzga Yes that make sense 🙌👍 Humans who now is training an AI resulting in an product, gets a salary and AI trainingshares ( From now on called AITS 🙃) and can make a living that way. It will work fine I think under this age of transition to a future when humans not are able to contribute anymore in developing the AI super intelligence. After this age of transition we need something else I imagine.
@@Jeppe4421 whether we will get to engage with machines can do everything. And humans can still own something. Turn all of us good as well become self-sufficient. The more I think about it the more I suspect that we will just merge. I don't think there will be age of absolute abundance, amount of land is still limited, amount of energy is still limited, love the physics like speed of light is not bendable.
So far is something become cheaper and widely available, it just became less of a concern, we adapt very quickly and take things for granted. Like today we can in a day get from Europe to US, while watching a live stream through starlink. And I don't think you can impress many people that
Have you talked about the ridiculous proposals from ClosedAI yet? And how they want GPUs to be trackable and controllable by an external institution? Please talk more about regulatory capture and their latest take on AI governance. There's a lot of dangerous things happening in the space right now. ClosedAI lobbying to ban open source, axing employees left and right. I'm concerned to say the least 😰
Are joking!? ChIAO sounds great!
AI for Vice President forever!!
Empathy: The Human vs. Robot Remix: Us humans? We’ve got layers of empathy-think emotional parfait. We’ve got the thinky kind, the feely kind, and the let’s-do-something-about-it kind. Society’s got us using empathy like a Swiss Army knife, for better or worse. And AI? It’s trying to get in on the action, but it’s like a parrot squawking love songs-it knows the tune but not the heart.
Will electricians jobs go to?
I think construction is pretty safe
Chaio I like the way you work through that lol no I'm not going to say that
AI Competency FACTS
Why did I think that you meant that the White House was making everyone hire an actual AI to be the CEO haha
Chow officer is not dumb.
The Quirky Quandary of AI Empathy: AI’s been schooling humans in brainy brawls like chess and Go, and some folks reckon these digital whiz kids can out-empathize us flesh-and-blood types in a pinch. But let’s get real-empathy’s about feeling the feels together, and AI’s got the emotional depth of a teaspoon. It’s like a robot playing pretend, knowing the lines but not the feels.
Empathy is biased. How do you code that out? Especially when most coders don't have the experiences that certain demographics have?
Exec in the US? Psychopathy is easy to assess for
that acronym is a little too close to ciao
I was prophesying roles more like Chief Intelligence Office or Chief Knowledge Officer... A.I. is often too broad and sort of impinges on the role of the CTO
I know a solution to employees fear of AI... Never have any employees in the first place, just use AI! However, if you already have employees... woops!
If you need someone that eat sleeps and breathes ai, hit me up.
How is there a lack of ai talent? Isn't everyone studying it now?
Ciao
CAIO. Shortest career ever.
I can't watch these moving camera videos.
800k? .. wow they are really banking on AI's power! .. hoping intentions are good, concerning given the state of things these days
Obiden… omg is Biden GPT4o????
There is a common cognitive mistake on this framing of "employees will be replaced" - the time window where competent employees are replaceable and employers aren't is VERY narrow. Your CAIO/CEO/higher-up guy also will compete and fail against some more efficient machinery in AI-run firms
In the long run, probably
Stop walking in the forest it’s cringey
Why ? Think is much better
