  • Quick review of my new apc es 750 va (450 watt) ups that is being used with a quad core desktop. Since it has the apc name, I know that it is going to be very reliable and any servicing needed will be simple and easy. I bought this unit for multiple reasons, one being for the extra wattage (from 200 to 450 from my old es 350) and the green feature. The ups offers a lot of power and features, but lacks avr that many of it's rivals have as standard. One thing to consider when buying this ups and others is the type of power they put out when on battery. This ups puts out a modified / jagged sine wave waveform, which is acceptable for most standard desktops and appliances, but certain desktops with pfc power supply units, nightlights and things like rechargable electrical shavers will not work well with the modified sine wave waveform. The unit has great build quality and is quality control checked before it leaves the factory. The design is also another plus with a shinny plastic insert (top of unit) surrounded by a durable black mat finish body. This is my second apc product (the first is 10 years old and counting) and seeing how well the first one has served me, I expect this unit to last at least the same. The only thing I have to worry about is the occasional battery replacement (2-4 years on average) and dusting around the top of the unit every now an then. I hope you guys enjoyed this review and if your interested in getting your own apc es 750, the unit is readily available in stores and online.

    I got this exact same unit in 2007. Now in 2023 the red battery light is blinking nonstop, so obviously the battery is dead. Not bad for 16 years of service though.
    I just ordered a replacement battery from Home Depot for $22. Still cheaper than a new UPS.

    3/2019 - owned/used the ES 750 since purchase - more than 4 years ago - works great, especially loved that I had time to turn off my PC and finish up the phone conversation during a Storm/Power outage - I just installed my first battery replacement (everything plugged in) works great. I downloaded the manual and saw your u-tube video - yours came with a CD (I can't find mine, not sure if I got one) so I found the software download on the APC site. Problem during install/ error says "unable to locate battery back up connected to your computer. In order to disable the native power management, and APC battery backup needs to be attached. If native power management is not disabled you may receive messages from Windows relating to a 'battery'." (everything is plugged into the device) and everything is working (PC, lights, phone etc.) the manual said it needs 16 hours to fully charge the unit - perhaps that's the issue. I'll try it again tomorrow...and update. I just thought you might read this and have a helpful comment. Your post was 2010 (9 years ago) so I'm not holding my breath.

    I wouldn't bother spending the money. I had an es-750 for 6 years, battery light flashed one day so I bought a new $45 battery. Battery light still flashed, so I called APC. They said sorry, it's not the battery it's the unit and it's out of warranty. For something that sits there and only has to work maybe 2x in 4 yrs, that's pretty lame. So why spend twice the money on something disposable. Btw, I asked if they would sell me a unit at cost considering my frustrations, and they offered a 10% discount on an inflated price plus tax but only if I sent them my old unit. I found the same unit for sale on Amazon for $30 less than their generous offer. Thank you APC we're done here.

    Well, a tiny mistake here. I've got a 650W power suply running in my computer, but the computer doesn't always draw that much power. Only when it's needed, so if the power goes out, just make sure to shut down tough softwares asap, and you're good :)

    @sirmasterpimp but some say's that you need to add capacitor and diode inside circuit of the UPS to make the car battery hold a higher voltage and will run up to 4-5hrs, And i don't know if that's work.

    The transformers for routers and 12 volt devices are space hogs. I have seen some short adapters made to correct the issue but agree they should have at least an inch or two of extra space between the plugs.

  • @BatteryGeekReviews
    @BatteryGeekReviews  Před 12 lety

    @1968toddcarter No, you would need a much larger ups. One of their pro sine units sounds about right for you.

  • @BatteryGeekReviews
    @BatteryGeekReviews  Před 11 lety

    Most likely your battery needs to be replaced. After a few good power outages when the battery is completely drained, the battery gets worn out. You can replace it cheaply with a battery from amazon or ebay. you need a tall and slim 12 volt sla, 7-8 amp hour battery with f2 terminals. It shouldn't run you more than $20-$30 shipped. My ups still shows a fully healthy battery, but next year I will replace the batt and use the old one with a solar setup.

    That will only work with the more expensive pure sine ups systems.....This system as well as all similar priced ones deliver a square wave, which the ups will reject as an input source.

    My unit did not come with a cd/dvd. I had to download the software from their website. Then the software would not open once installed? It was Sunday so I could not call tech support. I went and did some research on their forum. Turns out I had to install a Microsoft font (I used HP's online tech support to get it for me--the font was Arial.tff) and now the software and unit work fine!

    • @kellyr95
      @kellyr95 Před 7 lety +1

      +Tito Lopez The outlets that provide Uninterruptible Power are the top ones labeled "Battery Backup" so you want to plug in your computer, monitor, modem/router and whatever else you want to have power in an outage (such as an external hard drive) to those outlets. The "Surge Protection" bottom outlets will not be powered in an outage but will be protected from power spikes that could damage electronics so plug in things like printers, speakers or chargers that are not as important to have in a power outage. Basically the unit just enables you time to wrap up what you are doing on your computer and shut things off so don't plan on being able to work on your computer for long before the power is exhausted. The main reason I got mine was those annoying power outages that just last a few seconds but would shut my computer down.

    please tell me that you are not using that for a pc :( that model produces square waves instead of sine waves, and square waves will kill your power supply very quickly, you can pick up a decent sine wave ups on ebay, but make sure it has new batteries, if not you run the chance on getting a steal for a seemingly perfect ups, yet its batteries are useless
