  • Today I grit blast the inside of this steel tank to profile the steel so it can be rubber lined. 600cfm using course steel grit. Just another day day in the life of a blaster well this was 4 days overall :)

    As always thanks for watching much appreciated!
    Hard doing for easy viewing :)
    If you are a blaster and require help please drop me a message on here. PLEASE don't email or call asking advice on how to setup or operate your Rig. I need to prioritise my free time doing work calls, emails and quote enquiries. I will always try to respond to comments on my videos :)
    kind Regards

    in the interedt of safety,rather than bang the bladt nozzel on the shell,why don't you install a remote control or deadman handle? it wohld also be beneficial if you informed the viewers of the abrasive size and possible mixture of grit & shot for production rates and to achieve the ideal profile.

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  Před rokem

      Oh sorry I stop the blaster with the deadmans and bang in the side to tell the man out side to turn the grit up. If I stop for any longer than say normal 2 or 3 minutes the guy out side shuts the full rig down and opens up to check see if everything is OK. Every fill of the media another guy checks for CO2 and other gasses. He also checks the air extraction is still taking the dust away as designed a tank this size has been calculated and converted into time for full air extraction. I don't do this bit as all the numbers and kit involved is beyond me 😂 this is a perfect reason why I say these videos arnt a how too as alot of stuff is happening that I don't film. Even down to the fact we cannot follow HSE to have a meter in the tank at all times it simply wouldn't last the shift its that hard on equipment and the body 👌 it's checked aproxx every 40 to 60 minutes. I would be able to tell if the extraction wasn't performing as I wouldn't be able to see from the dust.
      Job sheet was to blast clean to SA2.5 spec and mesh grade profile was to match a sample plate set by the blast suppler saying that any one of the on the plate would do just fine for the rubber they intended on using my test blast exceeded SA2.5 and the mesh grade was more than adequate. I hit the top chart dropping to the next 1 down in areas this will do as I could afford to drop 2 more in the profile. Don't confuse this with the SA spec I exceeded this throughout.

    What was the RA value after blasting and which grit did you use like G16 or G18? Looks nice.

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  Před 8 měsíci

      Maximum possible from blasting steel grit course grade 175psi 12bar 2000cfm but choked to 550cfm because the Maximum nosel size is 1050. The mesh grades have been tested before and well exceed the requirements ive forgot what the grades was we just keep to these settings and we dont have any issues 👌👍

      On this job I was using 600cfm @ 12bar its way more than anyone should have to work with 8bar is about my recommendation for progress and blaster comfort or workability 😊 1600 wow I can pitcher me trying to cling onto the pipe and it blowing me around like a rag dole haha

      @@Mobileblaster we are using a machine called ARS “advanced recycling system “ and what it does is it separates the steel shot from all the dust and lead particles so you can reuse the steel grit, that machine works also as our pot. We have a group of 3 guys in the morning, 2 guys blasting and 1 Guy feeding the ars. The second crew is 3 guys sweeping and making piles of the spent media and vacuuming , and the other guy switching out barrels as they get full. That ARS is also a vacuum and we have about 1000 feet of vacuum hose connected to it. Vacuum is very powerful and dangerous

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  Před rokem

      Hi, Duncan short answer is no I reached out to them to see if they wanted me to do a video I've had no response if a product was as good as they say I would personally have jumped at the opportunity all I was asking if they would send me 1 free of charge I would do a video just on that. I don't fink it will make a difference hence me not willing to invest any money in a product I know won't do much if anything at all possibly restricts the flow of air if anything. I have had another product very similar in the past and I returned that 8k blast pot that's designed for soft stone I won't mention the company but that wasn't worth it's selling point 👍

      Yeah screw fix 10w work lamp £25 each👍 they are fairly poor to what they ust to sell tho lucky to get a decent shift out of a lamp normal blasting should be fine but these tanks aren't a nice environment to be in with 600cfm at 12bar with steel grit bouncing back 😬
