    Decent video, but a bit rushed, and obviously doesn't cover the re-assembly, but just do things in reverse. I just replaced the battery on my iPhone 7 plus successfully. Took me a little bit to get the top part of the screen off, as it seems to have a plastic lip along the top, so it doesn't just pop up and off. It cannot be overstated to be careful with the loose screws - they are crazy small. And on at least two parts, one of the screws is bigger than the others, so you have to keep them straight. One of mine got lost in the phone for 10-15 minutes and I used a needle and magnet to fish it out. Also, wait to reconnect the battery *last* after the screen reconnect. I didn't do this, and while it didn't cause any issues, supposedly it can cause components to die. Overall, it took me about 45 minutes to replace the battery, but that was due to the screw that tried to go AWOL. You have to be good with tiny, tiny, tiny parts. If I had to do this again, I would try to do it without removing the screen, but that seems risky with the delicate screen cables.

    What happened to the days when you could just, you know, swap the battery in about 3 seconds! I deserve to become a certified Apple technician if I can compete this! The only reason it’s this complicated is because Apple realised that the battery is just about the only consumable item in the phone and they could make even more money if they bolt half the phone over the top of it so most people pay to get it done when there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be able to just pop the back off and take the battery out!

  • @TerriLeeHolm
    @TerriLeeHolm Před 4 lety +18

    You can ruin the home button by over tightening the bottom two screws when you put it back together. Next time you might wanna walk people through putting it back together so you can tell people this. Now I have to watch another video on how to replace the home button, but it won’t be your video.

  • @Deathsdezire
    @Deathsdezire Před 7 lety +16

    The last few steps arent necessary. You can just use your tweezers and grab the tabs for the battery adhesive. You only need to take it that far apart if your adhesive tears and you cant get the end of it anymore.

    Why are you removing half of the phone? You don’t need to remove Taptic Engine or anything. ALSO you can NEVER get the strips out the way she removed them. You don’t need to heat the phone up. Use tweezers, as your pulling the strip out wrap the strip around the tweezer. Pull, twist, pull twist. Man i can’t wait to make a CZcams channel on how to PROPERLY fix iPhones.

    I did this today. I didn’t have any new adhesive, so I took some silicone caulk and carefully lined it around the edge with a toothpick 👀 it’s working so far (I’m typing on the phone) but we’ll see how it holds up. Not that I would recommend it, I think silicone caulk is acidic so you’ll have to be very careful. Also there’s no guaranteeing the waterproofing worked

      I work in phone repair and am confronted with many iPhone users every day. Letting many of these people service their own phones would cause Apple more headaches than it's worth. Swappable batteries also affect the look (Apple is very focused on looks) and the durability (Apple would sell less phones) of these phones. Not to mention the waterproofing.
